The Problem With Entitlements

Are you really this clueless? Are you incapable of thinking that some people are poor and can't save for the future? I know this is difficult, but it costs a lot to live and some live paycheck to paycheck in order to survive and can't save. Those people need help, also saving with longer lives, if you calculate inflation a lot will need help. Stop being so goddamn narrow in your view of reality, not everybody is well to do. We can't feed those people to the wolves because you don't want to help people.

I am just happy your line of thinking is dying and from the looks of it at an accelerated rate. We need more government aid, Universal Healthcare, Education and Government funded Housing and backing of industries to lower fuel and food costs. More needs to go into Sciences and WAY less into a pointless war machine.

Because, I don't sympathize with the poor and lazy you think I'm rich. Surprise, I'm not. I live paycheck to paycheck and check this out I still find ways to save for the future without being in debt. How can this be?

Who said he was ficticious? He's my uncle. I had dinner with him on Saturday.

Well, I appreciate your uncles service in the armed service. I'd appreciate it even more if he had planned for his future instead of counting on food stamps to be there. Why doesn't his family help support him? Oh yeah, that's what government aid is for, right?

You're an idiot, primarily because of your generalizations. He's only been on foodstamps since he's been in his 80s. A lot of his money had been invested in stocks over the years, but due to the financial crash they lost a lot of their value, meaning he lost a lot of money. This entirely invalidates the last 60+ years of his life as an engineer and chef right?

My only problem with entitlements are too many people think they are entitled to something free. With so many people on unemployment that alot are deserving but there are many cases where an individual loses a $100,00 a year job five years ago and are still looking for that same paying job. There are alot of qualified unemployed people who are just lazy and stubborn in finding a job. They refuse to look for any type of job because the government wants people to rely on them. This country wasn't built on lazy slobs and a government that believes in some sort of Socialism. In case some don't know what Socialism is its when a government tries to alter the economy based off of government trying to change some aspects of the average workers mindset of expectations. From both sides of the aisle there are many politicians who believe in some sort of Socialism.

Entitlements suck, they get abused some times. I don't like paying taxes for people I don't know, especially the ones that f'ed up their own life.

But I am not going to be a giant cunt about it. I don't know everyone's story and I hate to think of folks spending all their time worrying or looking for food. I also like knowing that if things go bad for me and my family there is support out there. Certainly not a lifestyle I want for myself, my family, or any other human being but at least there is something.

But mostly I am not going to be a giant cunt about it.

So, it sounds like he actually needs it, but when talking on something this broad you have to generalize because I nor you nor anyone else can speak for 50 million people on an individual basis. Your uncle is the exception in this equation not the rule. If you noticed this thread was titled "The Problem With Entitlements" not "What's Right With Entitlements"

As just a basic matter of debate, you should never argue the personal relation of someone else. You'll never win, because you'll never be privy to the information and history your opponent has.

This coming from someone who has said that entitlements are bad in general, yet my uncle is part of the 50 million. I'm going to go on a short limb and say there are millions more like him, which makes that list of 50 million far smaller when it comes to people that actually need them. I mean, there's at least one so maybe there are a lot more. Just a thought.

Yeah, well when they don't start with that how should I know? I guess I should of assumed at least one of KB's relatives was on government aid.

I mean, there's at least one so maybe there are a lot more. Just a thought.

And as I already said I am positive that your uncle is the minority in this.

Why is that? Because I live in the south? Because I'm a college educated self employed liberal? I'm genuinely curious as to your answer to this.

I always love it when people are talking about the US and have to bring race into the equation. Actually if people take a look at the history of slaves from Africa since the 1600's was with England. But staying on topic with slaves in America if they take a look at the history of slave trade with the US most of the slaves in Africa sold out their siblings to the ole rich white folk that went to those African Villages. Not in all instances that had happened but the majority of slaves were brought to the US from Africa that those slaves were sold out by their own families. If people want to keep up the entitlements which engulfs 20% of the GDP then those people will be slaves of the government. Lets just have free rent, free cable, free phone service, free internet while the government will slowly take your rights away. Got to love the left's version of freedom. Maybe thats what the DNC refers to as the "free" market system

Why is that? Because I live in the south? Because I'm a college educated self employed liberal? I'm genuinely curious as to your answer to this.

I live in the home of the south, doubt that's it. College educated self employed liberal, yeah that does lean towards thinking the government owes you something.

It's the bullshit you constantly spew about how great democrats are, how great Obamacare is, how bad guns are, how England's system is soooo much better then America's. The list goes on and on and on.

I fully expect you to depend on the government before it's all said and done.

Everyone knows Peyton Manning is you CEO.

Btw, any inside information on whether or not Papa John's has sorted out their accounting issues?

Which one in particular?

Let's try the actual version of this.

1. Obamacare would be much greater if it was universal, because access to healthcare is a human right, not a privilege.

2. Guns kill more people than probably anything else man made on this planet. Why you feel the need to own them is between you and the small stature of your penis.

3. England's system is indeed better, as are most countries other than ours. We're the only civilized country in the world with this system and our life expectancy is far lower than many of those countries. But hey, our system ROCKS right?

4. And I fully expect that you were voted most likely to attempt to mate with a horse.

You amuse me greatly and make me feel much smarter about myself. A guy that works in a pizza place is telling me that I'm going to be dependent on the government for the rest of my life. That's hilarious.

One of the few times I'll say this. You are 100% right.
The more you say it, the smarter you'll become.

You knew this already.

Remember Papa John doesn't support Obamacare?
I did know this, I was just holding out hope you wouldn't work for such a sleazy CEO who indirectly threatens people's jobs if they don't vote for the man he likes. I was hoping you wouldn't work for a company who would rather fire or cut hours of its employees instead of providing them healthcare, despite the fact they are giving away twice as much money in free pizzas.

It was a lot to hope for, but it was still hope.

I fully expect you to depend on the government before it's all said and done.
Out of curiosity, where did you go to school? And how do you manage to get to work? Do you purify your own water and grow your own food?

I always love it when people are talking about the US and have to bring race into the equation.
No one brought race into the equation, you just said America wasn't built on the backs of slobs. I agreed with you, in that it was built upon the backs of free and incredibly cheap labor, sometimes involuntary labor.

I guess my point is you were romanticizing the history of our country, trying to play to the nostalgic mindset of how America is a "self-made" country, when the truth really isn't that at all.

If people want to keep up the entitlements which engulfs 20% of the GDP then those people will be slaves of the government. Lets just have free rent, free cable, free phone service, free internet while the government will slowly take your rights away. Got to love the left's version of freedom.
Got to love a good strawman argument. Considering "the left" has never once argued for any of that, I think it's pretty safe to say you're engaging in a pretty obvious logical fallacy.

Let's try the actual version of this.

1. Obamacare would be much greater if it was universal, because access to healthcare is a human right, not a privilege.

It is not a right.

2. Guns kill more people than probably anything else man made on this planet. Why you feel the need to own them is between you and the small stature of your penis.

They also save more lives then most anything on this planet, but hey talk about my dick instead. Whatever floats your boat.

3. England's system is indeed better, as are most countries other than ours. We're the only civilized country in the world with this system and our life expectancy is far lower than many of those countries. But hey, our system ROCKS right?

Yeah, our life expectancy is lower because we don't have universal health care. Not because we indulge to the max in all vices.

4. And I fully expect that you were voted most likely to attempt to mate with a horse.

Pay attention to what I said. I don't have a diploma, so how would I have gotten to the Senior yearbook where they vote on ******ed shit?

You amuse me greatly and make me feel much smarter about myself. A guy that works in a pizza place is telling me that I'm going to be dependent on the government for the rest of my life. That's hilarious.

You amuse me greatly. A guy who makes his living off of the work of others. You might as well be a paparazzi. You contribute nothing to the workforce.

It is not a right.

The fact that there are people that believe this is a sign of American decline.

They also save more lives then most anything on this planet, but hey talk about my dick instead. Whatever floats your boat.

This I have to hear. How do guns save so many people?

Yeah, our life expectancy is lower because we don't have universal health care. Not because we indulge to the max in all vices.

Vices whose effects could be turned around if people had access to healthcare perhaps?

Pay attention to what I said. I don't have a diploma, so how would I have gotten to the Senior yearbook where they vote on ******ed shit?

I rarely pay attention to what you say.

You amuse me greatly. A guy who makes his living off of the work of others. You might as well be a paparazzi. You contribute nothing to the workforce.

Other than entertainment that is.

A free one topping pizza doesn't even cost a dollar to make. Plus, I agree with him on healthcare.

It was a lot to hope for, but it was still hope.
I still hold out hope for ya'll as well.

Out of curiosity, where did you go to school? And how do you manage to get to work? Do you purify your own water and grow your own food?

VA public schools, but since all they did was push the liberal agenda I'm mostly self educated. I.E " The civil war was solely caused by slavery" YES they really try to claim that. I know how to purify water, but I don't. I grow some food and sometimes hunt. I think I see where your going with this, but I'll have to wait and see.

Disclaimer: Leaving work now and then watching RAW on DVR, so if it take awhile to respond that's why. I assure you I'm not dodging you, this is one of our better conversations...Ever

No, you sir amuse me greatly. You make pizzas that contribute to obesity which is a factor in these "lazy and good for nothing" people you are bitching about... See I can make up bullshit and sling it around like a ******ed monkey too.

How many unemployment and welfare dollars do you think fund your store's income? How many of those dollars would you turn away if you knew the customer was on government assistance? I'd bet zero if you wanted to keep running that store.

You seem awfully high and mighty for a lowly store manager of a god damned pizza place. The funny thing is you'd probably be singing a different tune if the CEO of the chain decided to cut your store out with no notice, and gave you and your employees unemployment, especially if you're "living paycheck to paycheck" as a store manager. It's always easy to talk a bunch of shit until you're wearing the shoes that a lot of people have found themselves wearing.

A free one topping pizza doesn't even cost a dollar to make. Plus, I agree with him on healthcare.
That may be, but do you not sell that pizza for between $8 and $10?

VA public schools
Oh, a government program.

but since all they did was push the liberal agenda I'm mostly self educated.
So many jokes, so little time. Question though, who taught you to read and do mathematics?

I.E " The civil war was solely caused by slavery" YES they really try to claim that.
The civil war was not caused by slavery, however slavery was the most glaring issue of the battle between state and federal rights.

It's incorrect, but only because it is superficial, not because it's a lie. If that makes sense.

I know how to purify water, but I don't.
Why not? Is it because you're depending upon government to require a certain standard for drinking water?

I grow some food and sometimes hunt. I think I see where your going with this, but I'll have to wait and see.
It wasn't exactly a subtle point I was making. You depend on government every day. Every morning you wake up without a Chinese rifle in your face, you can thank our strong federal army. Every time you drive to work, you can thank your federal, state and/or local governments for paving the roads you drive on. Every time you eat a piece of meat, you depend on the federal government to set and regulate the standards required for processing meat, as do the customers of Papa Johns who, in essence, pay your salary and provide for your ability to live.

You depend upon the government every day. For you to cast such a phrase at others as an insult is kind of silly.

It's amazing how much things improve when you agree with me. :)
