The Pointless Thread

Lol, I dont really have of secondary teams, been a Wash Caps fan since I was a little kid because Jagr was a beast, now that they have Vech, I'm probably more of a fan of them then the Stars.

Everything else though is pure Texas. Besides anything to do with Austin and Houston, both suck ass.

I think the closest thing to loving any local sports teams would be the Iowa Hawkeyes (Football) and even then I've never been to a game, because.. well.. they suck. :lmao:

Car. Panthers, Ana. Ducks, SA. Spurs, CHI. White Soxs, & Tony Stewart. Those are my teams. :lmao:

I suppose you could add Tiger Woods to the list too. I love playing putt-putt, but dispise Golf. Woods' game on the 360 is the shit though. hahaha

Spurs are fucked after Duncan Will. Better get ready to hop on another bandwagon because once this Duncan era is over, we'll be the new Hawks.

Well, look at the teams in New York teams closest to me. I live near Buffalo, so sure I cheer for the Bills and the Sabres when they are on, but they are not my favorite teams. The you have the New York City teams, so far away, its not even a comparison, but how can anyone cheer for the Knicks is beyond me, I dont hate the Rangers, but could care less for them. The Islanders are irrelevent and I hate the Yankees and the Mets, which has led me to cheer for out of state teams, it just so happens that they are all in Denver.

Nah, I'll still cheer them. You forget what teams I cheer for. :lmao:

Carolina went 1-15 once, and the Ducks were based off a Disney movie. LOL I've been a Spurs fan since the days of Robinson, I'm sure we'll survive.

Meh, we'll be in rebuilding mode for a few years since we have no young talent and keep winning every year to pick up a good draft pick.

Sly I could give two fucks about that stupid tournament, now stop flame baiting
Flame-baiting? Who was I baiting Justin? The sport of hockey because I said it had little appeal? You really should look up what flame-baiting means if you feel that was a bait.

Agreed Sly but nothing is appealing about Kansas vs Memphis other than Derrick Rose and a one sided victory.
Anytime Kansas loses, it's appealing.

I'm more excited for the Western conference playoffs than anything at the moment. My Spurs are 1/2 game out of the 1 seed :D
I can't stand the NBA, but it's still more exciting to talk about than hockey.

Hockey's boring and has absolutely no appeal.

The best part of the NCAA Tournament is already over, the once you get to the Final Four, all you really see is blow outs.
Umm...no, most Final Fours are not blowouts. And tonight won't be a blowout either.

It will be a decent game, but everytime I try to talk about NCAA basketball I get in a debate with somebody about Hansbrough, so I am neglecting that fact
That's because you don't appreciate the greatness that is Tyler Hansbrough.

.....I will be rooting for Kansas thought, cuz I picked them to win it all.
Bastard. ;)

Haha...I just really hate Kansas.

Oh I see so cause Sly doesn't like Hockey we're not allowed to talk about without him mocking us, cause apparently he is incapable of ignoring the conversation, right gotcha:thumbsup:

I love how everytime I post something some disagrees with, and am the slightest bit sarcastic, they claim I'm flame-baiting, but whenever they do the same is not flame-baiting

The funny thing is I dont really like Kansas either, I root for Texas over them in the Big 12, but this bracket was for money, so I had to choose who I thought would win it, so I chose Kansas. Don't think I will be winning any money though, if anything a little, I underestimated Memphis and that will cost me more than likley.

Its not that I dont see the greatness of Tyler Hansbrough.....Oh wait yeah it is because there nothing great about him, well I guess there is one thing.....he can draw fouls better than anybody else in college basketball, hell thats were he scores all of his damn points!

Justin, you didn't mention how what I said was flame-baiting. Is that you agreeing that it wasn't?

Besides, what I said was that people are talking hockey with the NCAA Championships tonight and that hockey is less popular than a child's program.

But, I suppose since you don't like the NCAA basketball tournament, I'm not allowed to talk about it without you mocking me, cause apparently you are incapable of ignoring the conversation, right?

That sounds a little paranoid to me, Justin...

And the only time I ever said you were flame-baiting me was when you were trolling my posts saying I was a liar and that everything I posted was bullshit. So, not really sure who you're addressing that comment to, but it sounds as if you have such hostility you need to direct at someone else.

That's the advantage of having Hans as a big man, and if you think he only scores points from the line, then you are mistaken. He can shoot from a good range and his low post game and hustle for rebounds is damn near flawless. In the ACC tourney, the refs let them play, and Hans still played well without drawing 2020202020020 fouls.

I'm a big time Mizzou fan, so I hate Kansas with a passion. It was hard for me to even put them in the Final Four.

Try playing and/or coaching against him, and then tell me he's overrated.

Hockey is not that bad of a sport, but I will agree with Sly that it is extremely unpopular, I mean its almost embarassing how bad of a job the NHL markets themselves. How on earth are you a professional sport and have no deal in place with ESPN or CBS, oh wait they chose VS., yeah that was a great move, hockey is pretty good, but it will never get back to the popularity level it used to be at 10 years ago.

And he shot over 50% on the year, and finished 12th in the nation in made field goals.

Let me repeat that, he finished 12th in the nation in made field goals.

And, can someone explain to me why being a good free-throw shooter is a bad thing?

yeah that was a great move, hockey is pretty good, but it will never get back to the popularity level it used to be at 10 years ago.

It might.

If it remains competitive, gets a big deal with a network and lives of the new era of Crosby and Ovechkin. They main gain popularity.

It's a GREAT thing. Something Derrick Rose lack I believe. Hmmm.

I'll look that up.

Yeah he hustles and he can hit a mid range jumper, but I think he is overrated. Now I am not saying he is not good, he is very good, but I dont know how you can say he is better than Beasley and Rose? I will not doubt his hustle, but you have to admit he tries to draw a foul every damn play. There were a couple times against Kansas were he ended up looking like an idiot because the refs actually didn't blow the whistle for him. When comparing his skill set to Rose and Beasley there is no comparison, Rose and Beasley are better, they can take the ball at half court and take over a game, something that is needed at the college level.

Being a good free throw shooter is a good thing, I just hate when guys try to draw fouls every other play, which you cant deny he does.

Beasley shot over 50% for the year too, thats right, the guy who simply "takes a bunch of shots" or "just throws the ball up there", had just as good as shooting percentage as Hansbrough.

You watch the games.

I will not doubt his hustle, but you have to admit he tries to draw a foul every damn play.
So? He still finished 12th in the nation in made field goals, and shot over 50% from the field.

I call that being a smart basketball player.

There were a couple times against Kansas were he ended up looking like an idiot because the refs actually didn't blow the whistle for him.
1) Tyler got hammered on several of those plays.
2) What does looking like an idiot matter if you're scoring?

When comparing his skill set to Rose and Beasley there is no comparison, Rose and Beasley are better, they can take the ball at half court and take over a game, something that is needed at the college level.
Are you telling me that Jalen Rose was a better basketball player than Wilt Chamberlain?

Are you telling me that Hansbrough can't take over a game?

You don't judge big men the same way you do guards and forwards. To do so is silly.

You wont find any numbers that say that Hansbrough is better than Beasley, they all point to Beasley being the better and more dominant player. Rose may be a different story, but he spent the entire year playing extremely unselfish, which is why his numbers aren't so great, at least until the tournament.

That's called being a smart basketball player.

Beasley shot over 50% for the year too, thats right, the guy who simply "takes a bunch of shots" or "just throws the ball up there", had just as good as shooting percentage as Hansbrough.
Great.

Who said he didn't?

Numbers don't mean near as much as value.

I mean, Tim Duncan doesn't lead the league in scoring, but are you telling me you'd rather have Corey Maggette than Tim Duncan?

No, Jalen Rose was not better that Chamberlin, obviously. Hansbrough may be able to take over a game, but not in the manner of a Rose or Beasley, because he still needs people to set him up with the ball. Chamberlain was differnt because of his size, he was way bigger than everybody else. Hansbrough isn't that big, so no he cant dominate a game like Chamberlain. Wait did you just compare Wilt Chamberlain to Tyler Hansbrough?

Hans is surrounded by A talent ya' know?

BTW, not being a dick, but do you know how to use the quote tags?

Again with the Magette reference, you know that is not what I am saying, Magette cant take over a game either.

I have a question for you, were you against Kevin Durant getting player of the year last year?

When it comes to using quote tags, I sort of know how to do it, but I always mess something up when it comes to only quoting part of somebody's post.
