Jason Jordan is better but he has also been at it longer. I think people just respect gable's pedigree and the obvious long term potential he has. I would LOVE for those two to become the gatekeepers of many tag team title divisions. Perfect combo

We’re past Takeover: Respect now and the question is who comes after Finn Balor’s NXT Title next. In theory it’s Samoa Joe, who teamed with Balor to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic last week. Other than that we’re going to find out who is next to go after Bayley now that Sasha Banks is likely gone. Let’s get to it.

Why can NXT set up three title programs and a feud in an hour while it takes WWE three weeks to do the same?

Short answer? Kevin Dunn & Co.


Longer? Kevin Dunn & his underlings think that more is more. More talking. More segments. Fill the time and plug other WWE projects as much as possible. This 3 hour thing is not working like hoped, but they wont change it any time soon. Would have been great if more time meant more wrestling, but it rarely does. NXT is very to the point and just gets to the action. Time away from that is short and sweet. The pacing is way better. If RAW went back to the 2 hour format, this may help it feel less of a chore and focus on moving things along.

Thoughts from this week's show:

A) Finn Balor is the kind of guy that is a friend of a friend and your friend tells you he's a party animal and then he shows up at the party, has three cans of fosters and starts tellibg you 'interesting' facts like "the Brazil but isn't actually a nut" and "Goodyear is named after the guy who invented vulcanised rubber, but it was not his company".

B) The crowd chanting is getting tiresome, although lol at the one guy shouting "Rock Bottom, Rock Bottom!" when Nia Jax did her finisher.

C) A big fan of the Royal Rumble in the 80s style promos, could have done with a blue screen though.

D) Have you all figured out that you're being played by Eva Marie yet, or are we still neckbearding?

E) I think that's the best battle royal I've ever seen. That's a bit of a World's Tallest Dwarf statement, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Eva marie actually looked attractive this time, but she sounded a tad awkward and if she can't even talk I cant understand why WWE keeps pushing her down our throats instead of cutting their losses and reinvesting in someone else (Dana Brooke would seem to be the way to go there).

So glad Apollo Crews won. I wouldnt have been bothered by any of the final 4 winning but I think Joe v Breeze will be much more entertaining than Joe v Balor, surely Breeze goes over at a Takeover for once.

I'm with Tastycles on the crowd. You dont need to start a chant after every sentence in a promo, maybe try letting them progress the story.

According to The Wrestling Observer, the announcement of a second season of Lucha Underground surprised some people in WWE, as the company was interested in signing Ricochet, aka Prince Puma, and Angelico.

Ricochet lives in Orlando and is Apollo Crews’ roommate, and WWE had been discussing fast-tracking Ricochet into matches against Finn Balor in NXT, but WWE is unable to sign him right now as he is under a 7 year deal with Lucha Underground.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer recently noted that he had the chance to examine a Lucha Underground talent contract, and the deals appear to be pretty one-sided.

Talent contracts are usually for 7 seasons, and Lucha Underground star Son of Havoc actually noted this once in a promo. The catch, however, is that Lucha Underground can decide how long a season is, and can make them last as long as they want, as there is no set number of episodes per season.
