The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

Critical as I am of Alexa Bliss' new direction, that assisted bottle rocket was a thing of beauty.

One armed Sami Zayn! D'aww. Can he be only the thirteenth person to beat Kevin Owens or will he simply disintegrate when next hit with a pop-up powerbomb? Only time will tell.

We’re officially on the way to the next Takeover in Brooklyn with an announced main event of new NXT Champion Finn Balor defending against former champion Kevin Owens. This makes for an interesting match as Owens has kind of outgrown NXT despite only being there about seven months so far. It should be interesting how they get to the show so let’s get to it.

Let's Get To It

Speaking of moves, who else jumped out of their chair when Jordan and Gable performed their 'impromptu' finisher? That thing was nuts. As one of at least three people who've been waiting for Chad Gable to resurface, I ended up very satisfied.

Me, I like this new tag team.

Samoa Joe's cooled off impressively since his debut. A face/face with Balor is probably his best immediate prospect. It's sad to see a contemporary of Punk, Bryan and Styles performing in front of people sitting on their hands. Maybe new theme music will help.

He's had a pretty boring squash match vs. a nobody, they need to give him a serious feud, or let him & Owens finish theirs, what the hell happen to that anyway?

That new Samoa Joe is theme is better...but not by much. That and his lack of direction is probably what happens when you sign a deal to appear but are still finishing up way too many Indy dates very few people are going to see.

Why is Balor/Owens not a 2 out of 3 Falls match at Takeover? I don't know if it's just me but that would be at least a bit more entertaining than the pretty predictable outcome we'll seemingly get.

Deep down in my heart I hope we see Hideo return in the main event to save Balor from Owens, only for the Itami to turn around right into a belt shot from Balor.

I want Hideo to be the one who turns heel, incorrectly accusing Finn Balor of attacking him. Then make the real attacker Joe or someone down the line.

Alex Riley had a meltdown on-screen and on twitter. A high chance he could've taken out Hideo Itami. Keeps Hideo & Balor as faces (as they intend) and turns Riley heel (who cares) whilst progressing his character of being "the guy held down."

I love this idea, but then I'm one of a what I assume is very few people that want heel Hideo, & have been wanting it for awhile.

It's not that I don't want him to be heel but I still don't think he ever got a fair shake as a face. Hideo was obviously going to win the triple threat and beat Owens in Japan until the injury. We for sure would have gotten heel Balor at that point. They handicapped him move wise and in booking. As long as he's the one to take the belt off Balor I'm all good.

Naw, the person who does it needs to be someone with an actual future, let's not Rikishi this storyline up.

Why does it have to be future? Riley can put over Hideo, gain momentum and face Balor for the title. Build up Hideo again and make him seem like a real threat.

Plus, it allows Finn to be champion longer and we get a heated face vs. face battle. No heel tactics, just straight up competition. Much better this way.

I'm desperately trying to feel anything but apathy during this discussion of Hideo Itami, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe and Alex Riley.

It doesn't help that I've been watching Sami Zayn matches every night, including the fatal four-way last night. This is less preaching to the choir than preaching to the Manson family: my word, Sami Zayn is seriously special - the only indie talent who exceeded their hype and did so immediately, and I'm including Daniel Bryan's debut against Jericho and feud against Michael Cole. In that fatal four-way match alone, him throwing off his elbow pads before he fights Neville and his final house of fire sequence give me goosebumps.

I've been reading Bret Hart's book a lot lately and, between stories about shagging lots of beautiful women, he talks about his idea of what a great wrestler. He talks about what a great champion is. He talks about the art of losing and sympathy. All I could think of was Sami Zayn. Fitting that Hart was the one to introduce Sami on Raw - they're on that same, 0.000001% tier of talent.

I very much like Samoa Joe's new theme. I very much like Eva Marie's new wrestling skills. I very much like Bayley.

The fuck is one of the Dubstep Cowboys blonde?

It's like watching Guerrero versus Benoit or Bret Hart versus Dynamite. What I'm saying is this: Neville's definitely going to go insane.

We have a clear path towards Takeover: Brooklyn now with a main event of Finn Balor defending against Kevin Owens in a rematch from their Beast in the East showdown. Other than that it seems that we’re going to get Bayley challenging for the Women’s Title, but first she wants to get through Charlotte. However, Charlotte first wants to go through Dana Brooke, who she faces tonight. Let’s get to it.

The Fruits of NXT's Labor

My wife is enthralled at the prospect of a potential Enzo and Cass vs New Day feud

I've heard Enzo & Cass are working house shows with the main roster now, I'm reeeeeeeeeally hoping they're at the show I'm going to in a couple weeks, that alone will be worth the ticket price.

So much tag team stuff this week, I love it.

That Wilder and Dawson finisher looked sick as fuck, six months from now Gable is going to be on fire.

New Day vs Enzo and Cass would be amazing.

Imagine the feud. Imagine the two teams emulating each other. Can you imagine Xavier doing the promo they do with the New Day?

My name is Xavier Woods, and I am a positivity expert and a wonderful human being, and you can't teach that.
And this right here, this is Big E. And he's the loudest clapper I know, and you can't teach that.
And this right here, this is Kofi Kingston, and he's elated as heck. And you can't teach that.
BADA BOOM! Happiest guys in the room. How are you?

Or even Enzo and Cass doing the clap with "How you doin'?" I would adore it. Austin/McMahon of our generation.
