Side Notes for the week:

Graves calling the Vaudevillians hipsters is hypocritical given that he is the embodiment of a hipster
Rhyno couldnt have made it all the more obvious that he was transitioning to the next spot after he missed the gore. What's his deal btw? Is he a trainer as well, because I cant imagine he'd be demanding enough coin to live as just a wrestler but he wouldnt need to be on an exclusive deal and could work the indies in between tapings.

The vignettes have done their job: I'm ready for my boy Finn to win the NXT title in Japan. I ways believed in him. Sympathetic, easy to relate to - that's what I always said.
In fairness, I did find him hard to relate to but, quelle surprise, a series of vignettes that painted him as a Lego-loving introvert spawned from the British wrestling scene has made it easier.
Having said that, what I'm most looking forward to - and I think people will sympathise with this - is Eva Marie's in-ring redebut. I want to see two things: cynical neckbeards and suicide dives.
Carmella's popularity is evidence that neckbeards, no matter how ardent their atheism, can be won over. It's like the end of Rocky IV, only with nerds instead of Russians.

I really can't wait for this Finn Balor heel turn, something makes me think we get it on Saturday, but it's definitely coming soon with Hideo being the one to eventually take the belt off him in a couple months.
Also, Paige has no friends is an angle on the main roster so perhaps her and Sasha can do that. They're clearly building up Dana, Alexa, Carmella, Eva Marie etc in preparation of some or all of the fatal four way ladies moving on up. Maybe this is how they will become mates and all move up together.

According to Triple H's twitter, it appears the next Takeover is gonna be in.....
The Barclays Center in Brooklyn??? As in, the same Arena SummerSlam will be in the night after?
Not sure how this makes me feel. I think taking it out of the smaller, grungier venues will take some of the charm off it.

I can't imagine it will be as satisfying as some think.
There's always the possibility that Nakamura could develop Itami Syndrome, i.e. he could overcompensate for his usual stiffness by pulling his punches to the point of his matches looking like playfights. Unlike Itami, I feel Nakamura's greatest strengths (despite being the King of Strong Style) are his mannerisms, his image and his outright uniqueness. There's surely not anybody in professional right now with a better look. Look at this crazy motherfucker:

The crowd and Cole on commentary took away from it a little bit, i think. Dont know if it was that crowd, the venue, the way it was mic'd up or japenese crowds as a whole but it was rather quiet throughout except for brief moments. Full Sail would have been making noise non-stop towards the end especially. Which could be a worrying sign for the next takeover, who knows maybe not.

Culturally speaking, Japanese crowds are a lot quieter. Most times they sit in complete silence until a spot comes at which point they politely clap. It's more of a respect thing then anything, they watch wrestling as a sport rather than a show.

I liked the crowd so much more. No one was drawing attention away from the match by chanting dumb shit. It was refreshing.
