The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

Did I just state the obvious? I've never seen the comparison made before and I'm sitting here all stoned thinking that I just had some incredible revelation.

It’s a big week here in NXT as last week saw Samoa Joe challenging Kevin Owens to a title shot but getting turned down because he hasn’t racked up enough wins yet. Fair point said Commissioner William Regal, so it’s a non-title match tonight instead. This is probably just filler until we get to July 4 in Japan but NXT filler is still good stuff. Let’s get to it.

Who Is Fergal Devitt?

Is there a special reason they are going this indepth with Balor right now? Is there a storyline I'm missing or is this just them building him up.

The Tokyo 4th July show?

I don't think they want to add Balor to the Joe/Owens angle, so they're making the fans care about him in a different way. It's really working, I loved it. Then again, I would. Balor is the Irish wrestler that the country is actually proud of.

Who else is astonished that they gave away Joe versus Owens so soon? It was decent; not breathtaking. We didn't even get a "Joooe's gonna kill you/Kill Owens kill!" chant. Fuck you, Full Sail.

We’re getting closer to the big July 4th showdown for the title and that means Finn Balor needs to rack up a few wins. Up first we have the second half of the big sitdown interview with Balor, which is likely focusing on his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Other than that we might get some fallout from Joe vs. Owens from last week. Let’s get to it.

Gunner Training At WWE Performance Center

WZ has also learned that former TNA wrestler Gunner was once again training at the WWE Performance Center as of a few days ago.

The WU TANG FOREVER shirt I bought from Uni Qlo got left on the train - I need to watch some NXT to mend my broken heart.

Is Sami back yet?

Here's the problem with Kevin Owens, and I've said basically the same thing before and I'll likely say it again: he's still a heel in NXT, but he's not a heel. Kevin Owens is NXT's conquering hero.

Finn Balor, meanwhile, I still find it hard to sympathise with, despite the vignettes.

I'm not sure how I feel about Samoa Joe. I was a TNA fan for a good few years so I've obviously got a lot of time for him, and it's not like he's been performing badly - in fact, I think he's been showing just how good he is as a talker, which a lot of people don't realise - but Kevin Owens is Samoa Joe's whole world and Samoa Joe is just a small part of Kevin Owens'.

Basically, unless you're Sami Zayn, I'm not sure I want to see you beat Kevin Owens. I was pretty pissed of when Cena did it.

Ah...it becomes clear why I immeadiately jumped in, and why Sam cant help but be seduced by him...

“No matter where I was during the course of my career, I always felt comfortable in knowing that my character was unique and that my matches were going to be different than anyone else’s on the card. I really think that if Kevin Owens had been around while I was in my peak that he would have forced me to become a better wrestler – to increase my limited offensive arsenal, and to step up the cardio to keep up with his faster pace. I appreciate that so many people miss me on their TV sets each week, but I’m not really gone. Kevin Owens is a faster, stronger, more aggressive version of me who you can see each week on WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown.

So does Foley fear Owens? In a way. I’m afraid that when wrestling’s history book is written and the topic of top wrestlers with unorthodox body types is discussed, that my name will no longer be first on the list!”
