The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

So how many episodes of NXT do they tape at once? Should we expect the outcome of the Cena/Owens match to be spoiled based on what happens?

4, according to an interview A-Ry did with a podcast I listen to that's one of the biggest reasons why they rotate announce teams, 4 hours of calling matches can wreak havoc on your vocal chords apparently.

I've come to the conclusion I need to either take off early from work when these specials happen, or just avoid all social media & forums until I've finished watching the show. The Joe thing was spoiled for me by some indy wrestling fan page I had just liked a mere 4-5 hrs. earlier that day, & it kinda killed a big mark out moment for me.

Kind of a solid part of working graveshift is I didn't wake up until about 45 minutes before the show. Outside of feeding my dogs, setting up my laptop upstairs, and going up the street to get some tacos, I had no time to have any connection to the interwebs.

I agree with the general sentiment of the show, that it was fairly weak, and the womens match was by far the best (despite 100 fuck ups during it)...I too was pretty disappointed with Zayn - Owens, as it felt more like a glorified extended segment than a big title match. Shame, since at about the 6 or 7 minute mark, it had a chance to be an all timer.

Probably give the show a B-/C+, which is barely better than what id give payback, which was about a C. I think Payback had better action, but nothing on it was surprising or in doubt at all beforehand.

I need to add that the Alexa Bliss broke my heart, for various reasons.

For one, Enzo and Cass still somehow have not gotten tag gold

Carmella will still be with them (FUCK!!!)

I no longer want to wrap Alex Bliss up in fleece blankets and hug her.

Ah man, I have been saying for ages that I thought Carmella will stay lotal, but when I saw the segment with Bliss the other week I thought - ah, she's going to be an equaliser after the turn. Bliss definitely needed something extra but her move set isn't exactly heel friendly so hopefully she switches that up.

Like I said on the moon, I don't think Becky Lynch has captured hearts and minds the way the other top women have.

One of the things I love about wrestling is how stupid the fans are. When Corbin goes full heel, people will think it's because the fans made it so. It's not. His literal first video package thing had him talking about "people like me and people like you". They've wanted to go this direction since day 1.

The show wasn't shit, but easily the most dull episode I've seen of NXT I've seen yet.

What the fuck was that main event? Why didn't the match end?

I think Lynch will do fine with some time. They turned her full face (kind of?) only a couple weeks ago. Character hasn't really been fleshed out much, and as was pointed on in that moon meeting, this makes her pale in comparison to the other NXT girls who have VERY clearly defined characters, and play the hell out of them to boot.

One of the more legit looking DDTs I've seen.

I don't like Cass' ring attire. Looks like a diaper. I do like the way he moves in the ring though. Dude has unlimited potential.

Kevin Owens: Gee, I can't wait until I go to the main roster!

Triple H: Don't you ever say that...

Both Sami and Hideo are having/have had shoulder surgery and will be out about three to six months.

Edit: Oh, and is anybody else quietly pleased with the figure of hate Kevin Owens has become since appearing on Raw?

Steen just may take the despicable heel crown away from Orton sooner than I could have hoped.

Excellent.... (cue Mr. Burns .gif)

That is what we call real heel heat folks, not XPac heat or "We pushed _____ instead of Bryan" heat. Actual despicable bastard heat & has pulled it off wonderfully ever since that first attack on Sami.

This only just occurred to me (and I'm sure everybody else has fitted the pieces together before now) but, if Joe is still wrestling indie dates, Samoa Joe could defend the NXT title in Ring of Honor; Samoa Joe could defend the title in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Hey, CM Punk, HOWYOUDOIN'!?

It would appear that MAYBE they are trying to overcome the pratfalls that lost them The Briscoes and to a lesser extent, The Young Bucks.

Perhaps they will bring notable guys in "for a run" to sell tickets and subscriptions, but still pay them the NXT rate, and allow them to continue with Indy bookings. There is probably two different deals to be offered, and exclusive "developmental" plan and a non exclusive "pay per play" deals, like the one Joe is probably on.

That damn sure opens up a ton of options If this is the case.

WWE's selling a t-shirt with his name on it and he's still working ROH shows. It's pretty damn cool.

Following myself down the rabbit hole, you could even have Joe lose the belt - to someone they'd want in WWE, like Adam Cole - and use it as an excuse to get someone new on NXT. I know: a WWE belt changing hands at another company's show isn't going to happen in this lifetime, and Joe's probably not going to beat Owens in the first place, but the possibilities have suddenly made me giddy.

A more reasonable thing could be bringing in guys for a run at the belt, putting over the champ, but remember, we never know which one is which...

So we will assume when a big name comes through they are just there for an angle, when...oh shit, they just won the title. One of two things can then happen.....

They take the belt on the road to various promotions, only to come back and drop it to a true wwe guy at the next takeover (A phenomenal kind of wrestler, maybe?)

They end up BEING a true WWE guy, we just didn't know it, since we cant tell who is working on what kind of deal (if they were to sign Adam Cole, Rod Strong, Moose)

We'll look back at this in a couple of months and realise how foolish we were being. Right now, up is down, black is white.

Speaking of Roderick Strong, I saw the chap wrestle three times at an indie show this weekend (as I'm sure you know, following my exploits with a feverish obsession). I was lukewarm after the first match, which was basically a test to see how long a sequence of moves could get before your opponent had to sell, but he was absolutely phenomenal in the second and third. Not to discredit some of the excellent British talent there, who at the very least all had heaps of raw potential, but he was clearly the best wrestler there by quite a margin.

Roderick Strong is the type of guy that could really benefit from some time at the performance center in the same way that Rollins really benefited from his time in developmental. He's got all the tools & his style could be easily adapted to a more WWE friendly style he he were to just slow down a notch, & he needs someone to work with him on promos, in fact promos are what he needs to most work on.

Feel the same way about Adam Cole. loads of potential.

Back IN 07 he would be brought on by creative as micheal coles surrogate son. The current product may be utterly vapid and souless, but it could be much, much worse
