The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

Main page really fucked up covering that tournament. First they reported Neville was going to win the tournament after he was already eliminated and then posted Balor beat Itami in the finals before the match even started
 
The NXT Facebook account initially posted a photo featuring Finn Balor celebrating the win, but the caption read Hideo Itami is moving onto WrestleMania. The following has since been posted to reflect the actual winner of the tournament, Hideo Itami:

Man, I hope they use Friday night's NXT WM event for a tv taping. Trips just posted a small video on twitter showing off the venue, and it looks to be about a 3 thousand seater. Typically the kind of venue they should run if they get this thing to were it appears to be headed.

Should be awesome.
 
Itami's in the Andre the Giant battle royal - that's what I'm supposed to gather from this tournament business? One would've assumed that Balor or Neville would have been better fits, being more immediately striking.
 
I think it's a basic reward for Itami: he's apparently working very hard if Dusty Rjhodes' twitter is to be believed and they just so happen to have a legit, bona-fide Japanese wrestling legend to endorse him (Fujinami's been talking him up in press confrences and Hideo himself was in Fujinami's induction video) which will likely go over huge in Japan.
 
If they'd let Neville hit someone with a deadlift German suplex and then do a red arrow, you know he'd be golden. Even if he got to hit someone with that sitout powerbomb of his, which should be fine with Batista off making James Bond films, the crowd would be into him.

I tried to watch Sami Zayn versus Jack Swagger the other night, only to discover, to my horror, that no NXT prior to 2014 is on the network. Come on, guys - there's not that many episodes.

I miss Sami Zayn.

Hideo Itami needs a better finisher. It's all well and good to build to the GTS as the kill shot but the single leg dropkick looks like shit. He should use a running big boot, he does a nice looking boot.

He hasn't even used the GTS has he? He's teased it a few times I know and the fans go ape shit every time anticipating it but it never follows through. When he finally does hit it the fans are going to lose their shit.

With Punk gone really no reason not to use the GTS. Could even bring up the fact that he innovated it and Punk stole it if they want to take some cheap shots.
 
Unless they want him to go heel saying he innovated it probably isn't a good idea. The Full Sail crowd is above CM Punk chants and disrespect but the main roster will be quite different.

He needs to hit it soon though, would be awesome if he did on Sunday to like the Miz or something but I doubt it.

NXT will be running a huge live event tonight at San Jose State University. Bell time is 10:00pm and PWInsider reports WWE has sold over 4,000 tickets to the show without announcing a single match.



Oh boy.

I'm contemplating flying over and grabbing a show at some point but the logistics of it hurt my head. Anybody fancy a job as my PA? I'll give you a tenner (not per hour; just a tenner).

Supposedly - sort of spoilers - Itami hit the GTS at the house show last night. I don't think that's canon though.
