The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

I really thought more people would incorporate the very interesting ring and stage set up. The only guys who did were Owens, Balor, and Buddy Murphy by almost falling off it. Balor almost fell too.

Kalisto utilized it pretty well also.

Very good show, with the Enzo and Cass segment being excellent. I continue to be legitimately baffled as to what the hold up is on them and the Lucha Dragons moving on.

Dragons have been on a couple episodes of Superstars & Main Event I think, that's sorta like being called up:shrug:

Hmmmm. Mixed feelings. Guess it depends on if they really go the whole way with the idea behind NXT.

NXT should really get a title match on the Mania card. Should open the show yearly.

I kind of wish he would have waited about a year before going to NXT, there are still a lot of matches with indy guys & guys in NJPW I would have loved to see first.

Problem is your NXT champ is still rehabbing his knee after surgery.

Sam will be happy to know I order the new Sami Zayn shirt last night. I would've ordered a Owens shirt too, but that duct tape one is just too fucking stupid looking for me to wear in public, seriously might be the laziest shirt design I've ever seen WWE produce.

.

I didn't mean, like, THIS year, but if the momentum and buzz and overall direction of the brand continues, then absolutely next year it should open the show.

and they should also do so with a belt that doesn't look fucking ridiculous. In WWE2K15, I use the WHC for NXT. I don't see why that wouldn't be a viable option.

I think it would be awesome if they put the finals of that mini-tourny they're doing at Axxess on the pre-show, I mean the pre-show is 2 hrs. I can only take so much previewing the matches, before I get bored, why not put a second match on the pre-show that showcases NXT a bit, & has some relevance to the show as well.

Agree, or use one of the other old title belts, they got plenty sitting down their & most of them look better than that stupid giant X belt.

I love the NXT title. In its defence, I will list a series of adjectives that I believe describe it:

  • Chunky
  • Sleek
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Thick
  • Simple
  • Novel
  • Geometric
  • Unique

We’re back home in Florida tonight with the main event being Kevin Owens defending the NXT Title against Finn Balor. This is the lower level main event that still has the potential to tear the house down if they’re given enough time, which NXT is usually really good about doing. In addition to that, we have Sasha Banks defending the Women’s Title against Alexa Bliss. Let’s get to it.

They're Nothing If Not Perceptive

Bliss improved quite a bit since last week, albeit I wish they'd let her do the 450 splash as her finish. Whoever said she had a great ass wasn't lying either.

Emma's officially a heel now, good for her but I see this being nothing but a small roadblock until Bayley gets her Sami Zayn moment.

Balor/Owens was a little slow for me in the beginning but it got much better during the second half. Balor doesn't need the belt but it'll be interesting to see where he goes from here.

-Breeze is right up there with Enzo & Cass as far as most entertaining guy on the mic in NXT goes.

-I thought the crowd sounded a bit dead for this show compared to most weeks, they came alive at moments but there were a lot of times when it sounded it was pretty quiet too, that said I assume this episode was the 4th hour of their tapings & by then the crowd was probably exhausted.

-I'd like to see Owens vs. Balor on larger stage & with more time, preferably without interruptions from LL Cool J reminding me that Mania is this Sunday.

-Emma slapping the shit out of Baylay's face was pretty brutal, for that she must now perish, preferably at the hands of Baylay & a Baylay to Belly suplex off the top rope. I actually wouldn't mind if this match & Banks vs. Bliss 3 happened at the next Takeover Special.

"Hid-e-ous" had me rolling :lmao:

Hoping to see more tag teams in NXT. If Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards stayed, I wonder how they'd be doing right now. Heard WWE was interested with the Briscoes but that report seems to be around once in a while anyway. Just hoping for more tag teams soon.

Balor/Owens was fantastic. Both guys are ready for the main roster. Glad Balor didn't come out with the paint this time. Should be saving that for special ocassions.

Was it nearly bedtime when this week's episode was filmed or was there another reason the audience was dozing during the women's title match? They popped a bit during Sasha's signature stuff, which they should because Sasha Banks is the best in the world, but were silent during Alexa Bliss' reversals and pinning combinations, which featured stuff I've never seen before. Very poor by Full Sail's standards. An impressive match let down by a crowd who, until all the stops were pulled out right at the end, wouldn't meet the wrestlers half way. Both Blitz and Banks are money. The main roster already has four active female wrestlers though. Four! That's enough for a tag team match.

There's something missing from Finn Balor. Maybe it's my natural aversion to the dramatic flair of the Irish but I don't feel like I like him as much as I should. It could be the fact that he can do a spinning brainbuster but it's not his finish for some reason.

Emma slapped Bayley and went right to the top of The List. You don't just do something like that and get away with it.

Dana Brooke looks like a promising addition. I feel like NorCal was likely frantically trying to tug his... wedding ring off during that hype video.

Carmella. Is. Going. To. Turn. On. Enzo. And. Cass.

I don't understand the logic of Balor not dressing as the demon. Owens told him to bring the demon. Unexpectedly, commentary did a good job of covering - but come on, you're going to wear the paint for The Ascension but not for the champ?

Balor's dropkick is still a thing of beauty, mind you. But the crowd cheering a headlock? Fuck these fuckers.

I've figured out why I don't quite get Balor, several sentences later. He's sculpted like a Greek god. He's a handsome lad. His ring gear's really cool. He's probably had sex with several women. How can I empathise with a man like that? Turn him heel and have him brag about how he can talk to girls without having heart palpitations.

Compare and contrast Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Zayn lost a title match by showing compassion after Adrian Neville faked a knee injury. Owens mercilessly targeted Finn Balor's knee to retain the same championship. What a piece of shit.

The way people start flooding out after Owens gets the pin makes me think it probably was bedtime.

Finally got around to watching Takeover: Rival. Top notch stuff. Balor/Neville was expectedly awesome **** stuff, the four way women's match was fucking boss and the women in NXT continue to put everyone on the main roster to absolute shame ***3/4 ish, and then what an emotional match between Owens and Zayn, another **** match. I like that they didn't blow their load in the first match and go for an all-out spotfest type deal like they've done before (if you've never seen their matches in PWG, get on that shit bud), they just focused on the story with a few big spots sprinkled in. Women literally screaming in the front row, amazing. I need to see this feud continue.

Word is Balor is going to be called up after Mania. He's ready, like a lot of recent signings he didn't even need NXT, but I feel bad for Neville, dude clearly should have been the next call up following the tradition of the NXT champ losing the belt and being called up. Hope he doesn't get lost in the shuffle. And hurry up and get Zayn up to the main roster, dude will get so over so quickly. Owens and Itami could use some more NXT time so there's not a logjam. Hope Itami doesn't become the odd man out, it's starting to feel like it.

Also just watched the Owens/Neville match from the week after Takeover. Fucking awesome stuff. Neville busting out a picture perfect moonsault to the floor and a 450 splash off the apron were both beautiful sights to behold. Yet another **** match.

I hope Balor changes his fucking paint on the next special. I get that he's probably saving stuff for the main roster but there's no difference between his entrance at R Evolution and Rival.

Maybe it's the bias in but I still like Zayn's theme music more.
