The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

I think the reason we haven't seen the Mechanics is because one of them got hurt like a year ago, they just did nothing with the other while his partner was out.

Dawson got hurt but I was under the impression that he formed The Mechanics after his return from injury. Scott Dawson's a great throwback wrestler - an Arn Anderson type.

The "partner" - Google can exclusively reveal - is Dash Wilder and probably looks like this:

If it means we can get Kalisto/Neville, Kalisto/Sami, Kalisto/Axel, and Kalisto/Owens matches then I'm all in for this idea.

But the outside possibility of Lucha Dragons versus Balor/Itami also makes blood rush to my man regions(but I'd more than "settle" for Kalisto/Balor and Kalisto/Itami one-on-ones too).

One can't help but wonder why they felt they needed to put Kalisto in not one but two tag teams. I suppose they gave Neville the same treatment so it's not exactly an indicator of a lack of confidence.

Not that this has stopped NXT before, but I think the issue is that every team in the division besides the Vaudevillians and Jordan/Dillenger is face. I'll be excited when the Dubstep Cowboys (not their real team name, sadly) finally get their push though. I've enjoyed every match they've had.

I've been walkin' these streets so long
Singin' the same old song
I know every crack in these dirty sidewalks of Broadway
Where hustle's the name of the game
And nice guys get washed away like the snow and the rain
There's been a load of compromisin'
On the road to my horizon
But I'm gonna be where the lights are shinin' on me

Like a dub-step cowboy! Wub wuuub!

Speaking of The Mechanics, I found a recent picture of them together and they actually look pretty badass. They haven't done all that much, if anything, lately, but there's obviously some opportunity for that to change.

Jordan/Dillinger were faces before officials realized they weren't nearly ready nor should they be the ones that take the belts off The Ascension. Blake and Murphy don't have an alignment because they lose to whoever needs to be built up and the Certified G's were stuck feuding with the French connection for like four months too long.

I truly look forward to a solo Kalisto run though.

I think all of you are dreaming a bit on the Kalisto singles run. Too small, both in real life, and to the WWE brass.

Bringing them up as a tag team though? No idea why it hasnt happened ALREADY. They are fantastic, and would get over for sure.

Kalisto is going to have to be one of those things I vehemently disagree with you on, my friend. The next Rey Mysterio - in the most literal sense.

Rey Mysterio is one of the top 10 wrestlers of all time.

Kalisto is smaller and fatter. Not to mention, y'know, he isn't nearly as good as Mysterio. Not even as good as steroid Mysterio.

Not gonna happen.

Top ten of all time? Wow!

I wouldn't have guessed you would go anywhere near that high. To be fair though, if either is a quarter as good as Rey at his peak, then they'll be damn good.

Is Hunico still under the Cara mask?

Numerous matches that I consider to be absolute classics, along with what I consider to be the best match of all time.

Probably has more classic matches in his carreer than anyone. Bret Hart is probably the only one who comes close in that department. Also the only guy that size considered good enough to be a true WHC in wwe. (some may argue for Benoit, but he was built like an absolute brick-shit house when he won the belt)

If you say anyone, who wasn't Japanese, you'd at least have a stronger argument(though it's hard to say he had more than Flair or Benoit).

No way he has more classics than Misawa though. Not even to bring up the likes of Kobashi or Tanahashi.

Kalisto will take up the spot that Sin Cara v1 was supposed to fill with Rey being gone & he will do it 10x better without the need for trampolines or silly mood lighting. The WWE needs a Latino talent who is marketable to kids & that will get their parents to buy merch. If we get someone who can put on superb matches in the process, that is just a bonus for us. Will Kalisto be winning the #1 belt or have a big main event storyline ? No, but a nice mid card career at this point is certainly in the cards.

Besides, with all the great stars we have on the main roster & on the way from NXT- do you really care if Kalisto gets a main event run? Bray Wyatt, Ambrose, Rollins, Reigns, Wade Barrett, Harper, Cesaro, Bo Dallas, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn & Hideo Itami are all looking to take a spot at the top of the card within the next few years. I just dont see Kalisto getting a place up there & that is fine with me. He can still put on a great match to fill out the mid card, but he will not be earning a shot at the 'giant slayer' moniker that Rey had.

Don't really hear it. You must be listening very hard.

When the Full Sail crew doesnt even pop for your entrance, you are having a bit of trouble.

I agree on the booking. It feels like they don't really know what to do with him.

He needs to be put with someone who works really well with him, and be allowed to stretch his legs a bit. I bet a match between he and Cesaro that was given 15+ minutes would be bust-ass

I'd say you're being pretty dismissive, he's not getting Finn Balor chants but in no way is the crowd silent.

The entire problem is that for some reason they let him get destroyed for a majority of every match. It's fairly obvious he can do a variety of moves but someone is limiting him in favor of the "groundbreaking" offense from the likes of Justin Gabriel, Curtis Axel, and The Ascension. Luckily they're slowly allowing him to implement more of an actual moveset.

I have no idea who they can pair him against in the current NXT roster that would be a long term feud, but he'll be fine. When he hits the GTS the crowd will go nuts.

Its not silent, but it is no way indicitive of the level of profile he had when being brought in.

Thats the concept behind putting him in a few long, showcase type matches. Its like they are doing this backwards.

Let him start with a few long matches to showcase him and his unique style, and then send him into normal fueds / give-and-take tv matches.

Given that he barely speaks english, badassery from bell to bell is all he has to connect with the crowd. Why they don't let him exercise that is beyond me.

And he's from(and was trained to wrestle in) Chicago. He speaks perfect English and he is one hundred percent comfortable with the American style of wrestling.

The WWE needs a Latino talent who is marketable to kids & that will get their parents to buy merch. If we get someone who can put on superb matches in the process, that is just a bonus for us.
This.

Kalisto will never mean on an overall scale what Rey did. Rey's too big of an icon in Mexico. But as far as just being able to be marketable to kids in America, he checks every box that Rey did. He's got a cool mask, the flashy lucha moves, and the charismatic presence in a tiny package that made Rey such a breakout hit with the PG era WWE preteen fanbase. He will make the WWE money. Lot's of it. And depending on just how much, the sky's the limit on where they could someday push him. He's only 28. Plus he has the indie-darling support too, which will only help.

Believe it or not, when it's on said and done, Kalisto may just end up with a career further up the main roster card than anyone currently in NXT.

It will stay that way until they smarten up with him, but for now it's not bad considering what they've had him doing for the last couple of months.

It will all take time, he'll need to find himself down in NXT just like the call-ups will need to on the main stage. Apparently he's having awesome matches with Solomon Crowe and Tyler Breeze at live events, when we'll see things like that on the Network who knows but he'll be fine in the long run.

The proof will be in the pudding with Kalisto.

And yes, Rey Mysterio would definitely be in my top ten.

Edit:

Itami's quality of performance has been improving while his crowd support has crumbled. Sad, really.
