The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

The only thing better than seeing Zayn hug Steen after his title win, was Steen hitting that powerbomb on Sami after the celebration. This shit is gonna be fantastic & WWE is wasting no time with this. We got our feel-good reunion moment & bam, right into a feud pre-loaded with history. I cannot wait to see the first promo from Owens after this.

Damn good show. Again. NXT keeps proving they are far better than anything else around right now. The additions to the roster have just amped the whole thing up for me. Things are going to continue to be very solid in the land of Full Sail. We got another great women's division match out of two divas who will certainly help change people's minds about their time being a snack break. Plus, Corbin\Bull are set to destroy eachother & although it sucks that Graves is out of the game- he is a welcome addition to the table. Time to let KENTA show a little more spark & let what he really does well shine through. Just give him the green light on the damn GTS already, because that pop when he teased it was huge.

Oh, and body paint motherfuckers. That entrance from Devitt was downright awesome.

NXT is the shit.

Graves in his first night ever of doing color commentary is already far better than JBL or Lawler.

CJ Parker is a fucking tool, it's pretty obvious why his push came to a crashing halt & he's essentially become the modern day Brooklyn Brawler after fucking up a palm strike & breaking Owens nose. That said Owens looked awesome last night, you can kinda see that's he's lost some weight & I think his condition may be a bit better too. Kinda hope he eventually gets a different finisher, but for now the pop-up powerbomb should work just fine for him.

Itami/Balor vs. The Ascension, Banks vs. Charlotte, & Zayn vs. Neville all are worthy of the MOTN tag, though if I had to choose I'd give it to Zayn/Neville.

It's amazing how with only 1 hr. a week & a 2 hr. special every 3-4 months how NXT can get more accomplished & put out a more entertaining product from top to bottom than the main roster does with a 6 hrs. of TV a week & a 3 hr. monthly PPV.

I think it works the other way round. If all the main roster had to fill was an hour a week and a PPV every 3 months, their stuff would be hot shit too. Not to mention, NXT is actually allowed to BE a wrestling show, and not a three hour commercial.

Its just stretched WAYYYY too thin on the main roster

Not when there was a match the quality of neville v zayn. Can only hope Vince is sitting somewhere watching and thinking "maybe times have changed" but its more likely that he thinks "how can the crowd be into two midgets". Sooner HHH takes over the better, anyone that thinks otherwise is either a Shane mark, Hunter hater or blind.

Amen to that.

He seriously could have killed Owens with that. He needs to be cut, immediately. Worthless piece of garbage.

Anyways, it was a great show. Loved, loved, loved how Owens was booked and how the crowd reacted to everything. Loved Itami teasing the GTS, although I'd like to see NXT toy with changing up the tag match formula. It's 2014, let's get with the times here, like they have with everything else. Charlotte vs. Banks was great. And of course, Sami vs. Neville killed it and just told an awesome story in there.

First of all, I concur with all of the praise.

Everything was perfect. Balor, K.O., Zayn, Charlotte. Wow.

But I really want to stress how great the commentary was. Just like the wrestling, all night the commentary aided the perception that the product is currently clearly superior to the main roster's TV offerings. Graves was especially excellent.

Among the millions of obvious and well documented reasons why K.O. turning on Sami right away is the perfect move by the WWE, it also fills the void of Sami not having a clear heel challenger ready to work a program.

Also I can't wait for Zayn/Owens because it has an element that Steen/Generico didn't have- Sami participating on the mic. I expect the next promo from each man to be absolutely classic stuff.

I thought Graves was utterly replaceable, but at the same time, he wasn't distractingly moronic like Cole is, so fuck it. Good enough. I'd like to hear him heel it up a little bit.

Like how you mentioned in your column about Jack Tunny just being there, that's how I like my commentators - don't stand out, just do your job. And that's what the NXT crew does for the most part.

Yes, indeed. Though you have to wonder if they are really just saying that particular design is what is permanent or if the body paint in general is. That design was pretty sick, but IDK if the crazy dreads need to stick around.

Either way- How fucking awesome is his Wrestlemania entrance going to be?! I cant wait to see what he has cooked up for that one.

Ok, two things -

I am on the other end of the commentary thing. I think they can enhance the show by one thousand. Then again, I grew up on Ventura/Monsoon and Heenan/Monsoon

second, someone like say, William Regal (or Dusty Rhodes, when he appeared t run NXT like a JR High principle) plays the Jack Tunney role. Make matches/decisions, have it known you exist, but thats the extent of your involvement in the show.

Just feel it should be put out there.

The guy who writes NXT isn't Triple H, but actually a guy called Ryan Ward. MetsFan4Ever, who posts on Reddit and used to work for WWE (hes proven it countless times, like countless) said that Ward's biggest inspiration is indie wrestling, which is probably why they're going straight into Steen/Zayn, because he knows how good It'll be.

So, TL;DR, you're all a bunch of indie marks. Marks.

Where did he say that his biggest inspiration was indy wrestling? He exactly said that he fucking keeps his eyes on indy wrestling. Doesn't mean that he lifts from it all the time. He can have good ideas on his own too.

Not everything about indy wrestling is fucking good though, sometimes it can be wrote moronically, see: All of CZW, most of ROH and the series finale to Chikara (Deucalion could have and should have went further). I would argue the current Wrestle Kingdom main event too and some of its other booking ideas are fucking stupid too (Jeff Jarrett is being put off as a big deal but he's in a meaningless 6 man?).

EVERYONE knows how good Zayn and Steen are and that's why they're hyped. It's nearly the entire reason the NXT crowd popped so big for Owens. He was at his best when he feuded with Zayn. We get it, you look indy wrestling and you're very knowledgeable about it. I just wish you would stop trying to force it. Christ NXT hits a knock out show and what do you say? "Hey guys this is because of the indys."

Dragon Saga's response to AJ Styles breaking someone's neck with 'it was his fault, the dude's shit and it doesn't affect Wrestle Kingdom'. Don't even try to engage him when the indies, or stars from the indies are involved.

So all these places are exactly like WWE in every single way? They get some stuff right and other stuff wrong? Wow, never would have thunk that. And also the booking on Wrestle Kingdom is far from "stupid", what's stupid about putting your two biggest draws who have mainstream appeal, larger than that of John Cena in the US, in your main event in-front of a stadium of 40,000+ people when you know they'll have a great match. If that's stupid, I'd like you to tell me what's smart. And no, AJ Styles main eventing it wouldn't have been smart.

Well... it is. Until about two months ago had I mentioned how good Kevin Steen is, the majority of you would shit on it. Why? This forum is always bandwagon jumping. There is a great thread somewhere about how Bryan was going to fail in the WWE from around the time he started. Yet everyone loved him from the minute he debuted and there were very few and rare apologies. Out of the 18 guys who appeared on NXT Takeover, 10 had previously had success outside WWE, most of whom came from the American independent circuit.

I will shove it down all your throats until you choke on it. Why? Because then maybe some of you will start getting the picture that WWE isn't the be all end all of wrestling. It's what makes this forum so fun for me sometimes. I keep telling you all these things before they ever happen.

Go to MLWRadio.com, listen to Talk n' Shop with AJ Styles. If you like Gallows, Anderson and others making fun of Lionheart and how he couldn't tuck his chin you'll get a blast out of it. Styles won't stop using it, Lionheart's neck is still broken because he took the move wrong, that really is the end of it.

Kudos to NXT for drowning out that fucker that chanted "We Want Kenta". They still have faith despite his mediocre booking. It's a crime they haven't let him do in-ring work besides being beaten down. The roar from the GTS attempt is proof enough that people don't give a fuck if Punk did it on the main stage first. Hideo will eventually prove how amazing he is.
