The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

We’re in a bit of a weird point in NXT as it’s still a few months before the next announced Takeover and we’re just starting to set up the big feuds before we get to the really big feuds. Next week it’s Baron Corbin vs. Samoa Joe vs. Sami Zayn for the #1 contendership so odds are they’ll get some focus tonight. Let’s get to it.

The Other Way

I figured and am very excited.

Is Breaking Ground any good? It looks like it's a behind the scenes reality type show which I love.

Ehhhhh you might like it.

I felt it was a whole lot of missed potential.

Also beating people over the head with "this is basically a minstrel and tumbling dance troupe" stuff zaps life force from me.

I know a lot of the kiddies love that sort of shit though.

It's too much! It's just too much!

I'll tell you what we haven't discussed: James Storm re-signed with TNA. I appreciate he's likely being paid a lot but still, Jesus.

I know a certain podcast which discussed this in great detail

*cough*

But basically TNA offered him 2 1/2 times what NXT did. He only has so many years left to make money on that scale. I don't blame him at all.

I know none of you will believe me but I actually predicted Carmella would win the battle royal. Carmella will lose to Bayley, demand a rematch then turn heel like Chrisitan-Randy Orton.

Except they can't keep ignoring the fact the Asuka deserves a title shot. She's murdered everyone she's come into contact with, and will likely do the same to Nia Jax at some point over the next couple of months.

If that Takeover: Texas is going to be NXT's version of Wrestlemania, they need Asuka vs. Bayley and Finn vs. Sami. Those two matches are the biggest possible matches of their respective divisions.

In fact, the parallels between Sami vs Finn and Austin vs. Rock from late '99 to early '01 are quite interesting. Obviously the former is on a much smaller scale. But Sami was number 1 in the eyes of the fans, until he got injured, at which point Finn carried the promotion (or, at least, the men's division) on his back. Now that Sami's back, most of the crowd will turn on Finn when the two eventually collide, forgetting all the great work he's done over the last year. I dunno, I just thought that was interesting.

Indeed, Asuka is a face though and I can't envision her in a match with Bayley as a face. One would have to be heel, no way Bayley'a turning anytime soon haha

The only way I see it happening would be Jax disrupting the match like Corbin did to Crews.

I think Jax will actually be the first to beat Asuka. Jax would then beat Bayley in a rematch. And Asuka would then beat Jax in some kind of double turn fashion.

Or the three of them could just have a triple threat match lol

I was going to say how amazing it would be to go back to 2013 and see the sort of stuff NXT is pulling off but it's pretty amazing in 2016.

So it's official? A Double is here? My god this is going to be a great year.

So what the fuck is TNA on about now? Saying AJ and co signed with them first and are now backing out? Is this a desparate grab for sympathetic attention or could there be truth to it?

Oddly enough, I've no idea how much truth there is to it on account of not being privy to any meetings, but they themselves admit that it was little more than a handshake agreement, meaning they're basically publicly humiliating themselves for no reason.

It makes them look really bad that they have been out done by a rookie promotion like NXT. Because I am certain that it's the draw of NXT (as much as WWE) with Balor, Joe etc that drew AJ there.

I'm fairly certain that they've only done it to scupper any chance of AJ doing something in the Rumble. Like there's a big chance of that anyway.

Based on the last 2 years or so, I think they have the public humiliation market cornered. Being basically on death watch & having the most lol moments possible while pretending to be a credible promotion doesnt help their case.

When NXT can do more with less, you should re-evaluate your gameplan. A basically useless tounament & hiring Mike Bennett sure isnt going to save anything.

Vince gives no fucks about any promotion anywhere. Money talks and so forth. The guy is solidly at #1 and frankly NXT could technically be considered the #2 promotion in the US. Based in talent and how good the shows are, he has nothing to worry about when he can just have HHH to get anyone he really wants.

Alright, we're probably not getting AJ. Sami can only pull double duty for so long and is probably leaving after he faces Owens at WrestleMania (fingers crossed). Do we get Nakamura as compensation?
