The Miz's Summerslam Opponent...

The_Awesome_One

Occasional Pre-Show
so we all knew that apparently miz was gonna face mysterio at summerslam but it looks like rey might have actually got injured. So now with SS just around the corner and Miz not on the card yet he's obviously gonna have a surprise opponent since they can't keep the most must-see WWE superstar off of the summerslam card. So my question is who do you think it will be?

I think it could be ADR and the way i think it could happen is something like ADR comes out and talks about cashing in his MITB contract against the winner soon. Then Miz could come out and say Alberto doesn't even deserve to be MITB contract holder and that Miz was screwed over by Alex Riley and that Miz is more Awesome than ADR. ADR obviolusly gets pissed which starts a fight. I would hope Miz would win since he hasn't won a PPV match since WM27. SO what do you thiunk will happen?

I think it should be a cross branded match against Daniel Bryan. The two do have history and chemistry in the ring. And both of them are future stars who have nothing to do at the PPV so I think it should happen and I definitely want to see it. If they give Bryan and Miz 15 minutes I'm sure we would get a 3.5 - 40 star match there. Though if he does get a last minute PPV match I have a feeling it's going to be one of the usual 5 minute squash matches against Evan Bourne.. Though It would look pretty weak on the card in a big PPV like Summerslam.

If he does get a match at SummerSlam, it will probably be so sort of Tag Team match with him and R Truth against Kofi and Evan Bourne or something like that. Im kinda disappointed in the amount of weight they are putting on this main event match. I don't think it's gonna go over as well as the MITB.

The Miz is meant to be the next face of the WWE and they havn't focused on him at all over the past 2 months he has been non existent. typical WWE to fuck things up as always....sigh.......but I think it could be a surprise oppenant that we all were not expecting.....maybe.....perhaps......Chris Jerico....lol

I agree with above poster's first sentence. It's really sad, actually. He beat John Cena at WrestleMania. Now he's not on the card. I wouldn't mind him facing Kofi again, or A-Ry but he might face Ziggler, D Bry would be a good match given the right amount of time. Maybe if Rey's not hurt, they will have their match.

Perhaps Sin Cara makes a surprise return.

Didn't they report on here that they were trying to find a way to bring him back earlier than expected? Or they could always use a Sin Cara doppleganger.

He would be a fitting replacement for Rey Mysterio since they're both masked men.

Maybe they'll do an updated version of a classic moment from Summerslam 88 when Honkytonk man didn't have a scheduled opponent: Miz stands in the ring, grabs the mic, and says "I don't care who it is, just get me somebody to wrestle!". Ultimate Warrior's music hits and bolts to the ring!! lol.

All kidding aside, I do believe that that is the scenario they'll go with. It just wont be Warrior as the opponent. But it is Summerslam, and it should be someone special. It's an oppurtuntity to turn a negative, that being Miz not having a match, into a positve classic summerslam memory.

I'm so stuck on this one, I think the miz is farking good, but I can't see him in a match at the moment. I don't know what he is going to do at the moment, all I can see him doing at the moment is cutting a promo on how he is the best, yet he isnt booked. That sort of thing. Sucks that he isn't building a fued with anyone at the moment

Ok, but if WWE knows Rey isn't healthy, why the heck did they announce he's using his rematch clause the night after Summerslam? Come on. Even if they eliminate his title rematch with the injury angle due to Miz's attack, isn't it pointless to announce it?

While I am hoping we get good news with Rey, if Rey isn't healthy I see the Miz standing in the ring ready to fight urging anybody in the back to come out and get a piece.

Now, the whole thing is, as someone stated above with the Warrior and Honky Tonk man, it isn't cool to just see Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne or John Morrison come out to the ring. That can happen routinely on Raw. It has to be something a little "bigger."

Now that being said, you do have two guys in Big Show and Kane who are just resting who could be brought back as a surprise opponent for Miz, but in both scenarios, they've been gone just 1 month and not nearly long enough for it to be considered an unpredicted "return" and it'd likely result in Miz losing handily.

So, now we think of other options and you begin to realize there's not a truly exciting option that WWE has at this point that would make an angle like this go down well.

The only thing that would truly excite is if the Miz is standing in the ring and the Rock returns to have an actual match with the Miz. We all know Rock is facing Cena, but that is still a huge draw even if Rock returns to the ring at Summerslam and maybe even Survivor Series with different opponents. Not to mention it's an automatic classic Summerslam moment. If they give it even just 10 minutes, if Miz puts up a fight he still looks great in a loss and as Rock said on his facebook, Summerslam will be "huge."

Now it's a complete long shot, but, hey, one can dream ha ha

maybe miz is gonna get a ppv off with summerslam as a small little break? but he could always face kofi kingston, evan bourne or alex reily again without announcing it but i think hes gonna have the night off personally...im still expecting alex reily vs dolph ziggler to be announced and john morrison vs truth but well see

Wait what about Diesel. It would be nice to see him in a match in WWE after soo many years. Of course it wouldn´t be a wrestling classic but hell it would be a great surprise.

There is a WWE.com exclusive video, uploaded today, in which Miz rants about not being on the PPV card, blames HHH and states, "I WILL be there and I WILL steal the show". He actually makes a pretty compelling case. You can view it here: http://vids.wwe.com/12875/wwecom-exclusive-the-miz-sounds

Now, that could mean a lot of things, the most obvious thing that pops into one's head is involvement with the main event. I hope not, though. There are plenty of ways he can be involved in the night without fucking up that match, which we're already assuming will be tainted with HHH as the ref.

To whoever suggested he'd have a "surprise" match with The Rock, no way. Having Rocky return for a match would include a LOT of fanfare, especially for the second biggest PPV of the year. I guess it's a wait-and-see kind of thing. We could be in for a number of surprises on Sunday.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not suggesting the Rock will actually show and that's why I said one can dream. But my point was, if the Miz is going to have a mystery opponent then the only truly exciting thing could be the Rock as there's nothing "exciting" from a mystery opponent perspective of Miz facing anyone on the current roster as frankly, we've seen it all multiple times whether it's Kofi, Bourne, Riley, etc.

This I saw and this as you say could mean a lot of things. In all honesty though I feel this means he'll be doing something with the main event, or have a match with a big name in the business. It'll be interesting to see what he does that'll steal the show, but come Sunday we'll see :).

Hopefully Miz beats up Daniel Bryan and challenges him for the MiTB, thus stealing the briefcase and winning it from Orton or Christian. Idk, just pulling stuff from my ass.
