The List Of Jericho Inspires Real Life "Kill List?"

There's a story on various sites right now stating that, earlier this week, a male student in Florida brought a "kill list" to the middle school he goes to. The police report states that the boy informed officers that the list was inspired by watching WWE and Chris Jericho in which he mimics Jericho who "keeps a list of people he dislikes." This "kill List" reportedly contained the names of most of the members of the middle school's football team, with the student who made the list saying he wanted to kill them.

The boy's family has stated that he had no intention of hurting anyone, but the revelation of this list did lead to many parents taking their kids out of school after all this came out. The report mentions that the school hasn't gone into any specifics or if any disciplinary action has been taken.

When I first read about this, or rather the headline of the article before I read it, I could just picture someone like Nancy Grace salivating over going after WWE if this was all part of some latest school tragedy. She's always ready to pounce on pro wrestling in general whenever some sort of tragic happening goes down in which there's some degree of pro wrestling involvement or inspiration. I was a little confused at first as I hadn't heard of anything on the news regarding another shooting, so it was a relief to read that there hadn't been any incident and that it was all about a "kill list."

It's kind of shocking to see how things have changed. When I was in middle school, something like a "kill list" wouldn't have gotten a second thought from teachers, they'd have chalked it up to being nothing more than the rantings of a hormonal, developing teenage mind pissed off at the world and nothing else.

It's not unlink the media to blow things massively out of proportion. Nor is it uncommon for kids to lie about their inspirations to draw attention away from their actions.

As for the kill list thing, Columbine, that's all there is. Changed a lot of things.

But given I don't live in the US, I don't fully understand the culture, different things tend to get blown out of proportion Down Under where I am from.

This isn't the first or last time we'll hear of a kid bringing a "kill" list to school. First time I've heard Jericho's name attached to it though. Apparently the kid was only 14 and to do something like this doesn't really seem normal. So maybe there is something a little off with him as well. The family said he wouldn't harm anyone, but why make a list like this in the first place? All schoolkids I've ever met, and I worked within the school system, have people they don't like, difference being is they don't go around making lists about killing them.

Jericho's list is supposed to be part of a comedy routine. The crowd always erupts when someone is put on the list, usually for the stupidest things. As I had to go looking for the story JH mentioned, wouldn't say the media has blown this out of proportion at all. It seems that only wrestling sites are reporting it, and only then because Jericho's name is being brought up.

We've heard stories of kids getting injured and killed because of practicing wrestling moves on each other, so not really surprised that something as silly as Jericho's list would be copied as well.

Because school bullies and he is 14. At this age kids become overemotional, this kid is very angry, that's why he wants to "kill" them.

As far as his inspiration goes - anything can be inspired by anything, until mass media come in and do a black pr, just wait and see couple more "kill lists" across the country to appear in a short period of time.

"Games make kids angry", "internet makes kids watch porn", "tv makes kids stupid", "list of Jericho makes kids kill each other"...in reality, parents and kids should talk more, this is all kids really need - someone who can understand them, help with their problems and show the way to live their lifes.
