I know he's sort of retired, but should JR come back and put togetherva team of stars that he brought to WWE like how Paul Heyman is doing? I would like to see this, and although I do not know if JR was responsible for bringing Ted DiBiase Jr to WWE or not, I would like to see him become one of the members. They could even have a feud going between Heyman and JR.

Anyway, I wouldn't be opposed to WWE giving it a shot if it weren't for one thing-- JR's Bell's Palsy. It limits his facial expressiveness greatly, and a bad enough relapse could ruin his ability to enunciate. Ross has done a great job managing it, but for WWE there's no real reason to bring in a guy with limited managerial experience who also has a condition of that sort. In any case, Ross is best used as an announcer and backstage adviser, just how he's being utilized now.

If he were healthier then it'd be an interesting proposition. I wouldn't want to see him with any kind of stable, though. I think JR (or any hypothetical babyface manager for that manner) would work best following the example of Arnold Skaaland, although with more energy/promo ability. That is, managing a single top-shelf babyface who isn't a great promo, but who people really get behind.

Not a terrible idea, but I think JR is the wrong guy.

The only "JR Guy" I think would be suitable would be Jack Swagger. JR signed him and they are both from Oklahoma. JR is a great talker and this might work, but Vince McMahon seem to have something against using him on TV so I don't think it will happen. But I like the idea, there are way too many heel stables right now and a face stable would be refreshing.

He did manage the late "Dr. Death" Steve Williams in an angle for a short time. This was in 1998 if I recall.

Besides to be a JR guy you have to be bald and I can't think of another good person to go with Kane and Stone Cold that isn't Ryback

I don't like JR as a manager because I've never been a big fan of face guys having managers...what's the point? Managers are typically there to help you win by cheating or causing distractions. I just can't see JR in a heel role...

But, I do agree that Ted Dibiase could benefit from having a manager...The guy that I think would be perfect is JBL. I could see JBL in an angle where he is posturing to buy the WWE from the McMahon's and steal control out from under Triple H. He could enlist Dibiase for all of his money, investor, and have him be his wrestler to win a title. Maybe the US title.

But, I don't see JR in the role of a manager...

I don't know how well it would work out in the long run, but it's something that'd be interesting, at least at the start.

While Jim Ross will always be known as, in my opinion, the best commentator in the business; I do think he could be a strong manager as well. Jim Ross is someone that has near limitless passion for wrestling and always has, so giving him a small stable of guys to help get over MIGHT be something that MIGHT work. Personally, I think if Vince allowed Triple H to ultimately have say over such an angle, it has a much better chance of succeeding. Like JR, Triple H has much more of an "old school" mentality when it comes to certain aspects of the wrestling business and I think they could come up with something that has potential.

I think a big part of it, however, would be who Jim Ross' boys are. It's tempting to go with guys who are already on the roster but, personally, I'd go with new talent from NXT with maybe one or two guys on the main roster like Barrett and/or Cesaro. Fresh talent to go with a fresh manager as part of a fresh angle. Jim Ross is quite probably the most beloved non-wrestler in WWE since Bobby Heenan & Gorilla Monsoon, so I don't think fans would have a problem rallying around him. At the same time though, the wrestlers paired with him would need to be able to carry their own weight.

I like Jim Ross, he embodies the storytelling and passion that the wrestling industry needs in order to thrive. JR can make you care about a match more when he commentates it. He'd be a fantastic manager and could help create a new face star.

I'd love to see Jack Swagger go to Ross for mentoring after Zeb Colter fails him. Ross has Swagger doing hundreds of squats backstage, and Swagger gets tired but Ross calls him a pencilneck and says to keep going. Basically Ross is teaching Swagger humility and motivation, and the fans get to enjoy a little comedy similar to the Rocky Balboa/Mickey relationship. As time progresses Swagger gets better, wrestles some serious heels and overcomes them. Swagger is becoming competitive, hungry and motivated with Ross in his corner. From here, you start positioning Swagger as a babyface in a big feud. Ross can help Swagger with promos, using his trademark emotion and emphasis. I think it would be a great pairing and they could work together for years.

I'd definitely be down for it. Swagger was the last guy he legit signed though, so unless they gave him some new talent to work with, pretty much anyone he signed who is still with the company at this point is very established and wouldn't really need him.

I would propose a good person to run this angle with is John Laurinaitis. As VP of talent relations for several years, he has signed a lot of people on the roster, including some that haven't been called up yet, and with him kind of getting pushed to side in favor of Triple H's ego it would be a perfect storyline that he's creating a stable to take back his power in WWE.

I haven't watched in 6 weeks but can we even call what Heyman has put together a stable yet? Have Axel, Punk, Lesnar tagged let alone been on screen together yet (ignoring this past Monday where one guy from Heyman's stable took out another)?

That being said, JR works best as a sympathetic legend character. Face stables aren't exactly compelling TV either. This may make for a nice one off Survivor Series story and match but doesn't interest me long term. While he's a good announcer I've never found him to be much of a compelling on screen character.

If JR isn't going to be used commentating than he shouldn't be on TV. He is apparently of poor health and a full-time role on TV wouldn't be ideal or even possible. I love JR, I think he is the best commentator of all time but I don't see the need for him to be brought back as a manager.

Well, if JR can't do it, what about other people, Jerry Lawler might be a good manager, or even Mick Foley. As far as having a face manager, one of the benefits of such would be that they would prevent the heel managers from interfering. And although I don't necessarily see any big shot faces being managed, it could help bring up some of the newer talents.
