JR Retires From WWE!

It's a shame we didn't get to hear more of him in recent years. I don't think we can quite say he has called his last ever match but it is a tragedy if so. He is, in my opinion, the best commentator of all time and his voice is intertwined with some of the great moments in wrestling history. Austin at WM17 is my personal favourite ("son of a bitch" )

It's not shocking that he retires. What's "shocking" is that report from Meltzer which people should be taking with a grain of salt. It's not like wrestling dirtsheets are the most accurate sources we have.

Other than that, I hope JR enjoys his retirement. He was great while he was around. I'm sure he will still be working on that BBQ sauce.

If being unappreciated means being the voice of Raw, being in charge of talent relations, making millions to do something you love, and to get to watch the best wrestlers in the world night in and night out...well you see where I'm getting with this.

The same Jim Cornette who nearly ruined Ring of Honor?

He was fired from talent relations back in 2004 and hasn't been in that position since. He's had no input in creative or booking or even in any hiring of talent or personelle since that time. He had a limited PR role and was used sparingly for that.

I know. Just mentioning some of his accomplishments in the WWE. Also, MAJOR difference between being fired and stepping down from that role. Do you guys believe everything the dirthsheets put out there?

Still not understanding the huge controversy here considering what JR's role has been since about 2011 or so.

The fact that this happeneed so close to so called Rick Flair WWE 2K14 'embarrassment' says to me JR was let go because of the incident. Which I think is bullshit. JR deserved a better end to his career with WWE than that. He was great on the mike, he had a real knowledge when it came to business and it's sad seeing him go.

Now everyone is saying maybe he'll go to TNA, which I think would help the company but I highly doubt it. But who knows.

Maybe fired is wrong word but he was definitely asked to leave more then he wanted to leave himself. though he was starting at time to have health issues, but still, it wasn't entirely his decision to leave that job. this isn't from the dirt sheets, it's from interviews he himself gave over the years.

Finally Ross is cut loose from that Vince's pet called WWE.

There was no reason for him to continue if he is highly successful with BBQ Sauce products and such. I wish him well in all his future endeavors.

Would have wished him to call one last show during WM30 but you can't have everything.

Also I do agree that he should have quit on his own terms and walked his path a few years ago when Vince started to bully him on national TV.

But now wrestling interviews will be awesome to hear when he starts to call the company out. There is a lot dirty laundry in there.

I haven't commented on the JR incident since it happened, but I think I speak for a lot of the old school fans when I say all the circumstances surrounding his "retirement" were shady. Jim Ross has been a great commentator ever since his WCW days and he was a loyal employee to WWF[WWE] at a time when he could have simply sold out and went back down south to WCW for more money. He is quite possibly the best WWE announcer of all time and to "retire" him because of something Ric Flair did on a game podcast is just an excuse and a rather flimsy one at that.

Anyone who watches WWE and knows the history of Vince McMahon, his family, and Triple H specifically know that they HATE anyone who has more knowledge about their own product than they do. Jim Ross is just a commentator but he is one that knows his history and knows it well enough to see patterns. We have seen this hashed and rehashed on WWE TV for years whether it be embarrassing promos, beat downs in the ring, or just totally smear campaigns by McMahon himself. This does not send out a good message for any potential WWE talents or staff because they can be as loyal as they want to be, but at the end of the day it will always be up to those who judge what is "best for business" based on their own shortcomings & personal agendas. Jim Ross was not the first casualty of the insane and shady business practices of the WWE and I am sure he will not be the last. Meanwhile, I'm sure that arrogant, overrated prick Michael Cole will have a job on commentary forever simply because of his amazing brown nosing skills. He is the very definition of what is wrong with WWE's perception of what is best for their company that they'd rather keep him on and "retire" JR. Nice work!
