The Scarred One
The Greatest of All Time
After watching the Tough Enough finale last night, one thing really captivated me about Luke and Andy being the final two.
That being that they were polar opposites with Andy being the devoted family man and Luke being the party animal bachelor. That was made apparent when they showed Andy helping his wife in changing diapers and washing dishes while Luke drank and partied with chicks in bikinis on a boat.
But in regards to the family man and the bachelor (this could also be implied to family women and bachelorettes as well, not to sound sexist), whose going to be the one who goes further?
With the family man, they have something other than themselves to fight for. Back home, they have a family to support, so they may be willing to go the extra mile for their sake. By putting his family first, he wants to make sure they have a roof over their heads, food in their stomaches and clothes on their backs. At the same time, they may need to take a leave of absence once in a while for family reasons, whether the wife is going into labor or their kid is in the hospital. So they may not be reliable in that sense, especially if they're in line for a major push.
With the bachelor, they don't have anything back home to really, for lack of a better word, hold them back. They can stay on the road for as long as they want because they don't have to go rushing home when they have time off. They would also be reliable when it comes to major pushes and storylines. But at the same time, they don't have anything, other than themselves, to really give that extra effort. They can spend the money they earn on themselves, whether it means several expensive cars, jewelry and tailor-made clothes, huge houses or other unecessary luxuries. But all that could mean nothing if they were to get fired.
So in summary, whose more likely to be more succesful? The family man, whose hungrier because he has something to fight for, or the bachelor, because he has no attachments slowing him down?
