The Current State of Batman (comic books)

Cody Rhodes is an excellant
So let me get this straight, Bruce is back, and he's publicly announced that he's been the one funding Batman the whole time and that now they are going to take the Batman brand global, and from what I also understand Nightwing has taken over as Batman, Tim Drake has handed reigns of Robin over to Damian, Bruces son, and has become Red Robin, and there is a new Batgirl, the old Batgirl Barbra Gordon is now the Oracle, and Batman is also aligned with Batwoman, and The Huntress...Do I have all this right, last time I read Batman was the Batman RIP graphic novel, so I'm just trying to understand wtf is going on with everyone favorite caped crime fighter

EDIT: Oh and apparently Tim Drake was adopted by Bruce Wayne as well (when the fuck did this happen?!)

Pretty crap-tarded 'eh? Convoluted doesn't even begin to describe most of DC Comics anymore. That's why I prefer Supes and his current Gumpping across America shtick.

Justin, where can I find this graphic novel online? Links please

What the Batman R.I.P. one?, I think I found it at Borders of all places, if you're looking for a place to DL for free I have no idea, I don't DL comic books, there's just something about reading a comic on a computer that just doesn't feel right

And yet, there's just something about not paying for poorly written/drawn crap, that feels fan-fucking-tastic.

It's alot to keep up with, and why does Batman have to build a Bat-army, and go global? I thought that was the whole reason behind the Justice League no exist anymore?

For fuck's sake, DC needs to start shipping a few aspirin tabs with each of their books.

Barbara Gordon has been Oracle for a while. I think that's the only thing in that entire paragraph I actually looked at and said "Yeah, makes sense."

I still don't like the bullshit about Bruce Wayne coming back from the dead and starting a global Batman "brand." It's jackshit ******ed. The idea that people don't just retire in the DC world is what makes this crazy. Retire Bruce Wayne and move everyone up a rank. It makes a sort of inheritance undertone to it, and it cleans everything up. At least it sort of does.

From what I understand he wasn't really dead just transported back in time, which I thought was ******ed when I found this out AFTER reading Batman:RIP, I thought Bruce was suppose to be a normal mortal human being, yet he can not only recover from being paralyzed by Bane, but then years later "killed" and then sent back in time, and somehow he returns and it's like nothing happened, he's perfectly healthy and has seemingly not lost a step?

And was does Batman need to "go global", where the fuck are the rest of the DC universe superheros, are Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, & Aquaman, and so on, to busy to fight crime these days?

Last time I read a Spiderman, he was living with Tony Stark and Wolverine, along with Aunt May and Mary Jane in the Stark Tower, and most of the superheros knew who he really was. Screwed up stuff.

Having not read it, I assume it's because Batman prefers to get things done his way

I should also point out that Dick Grayson was - and is - Batman. Much more interesting to read, too. Just pick up Batman and Robin - it's all you need. Though I hear that Batman Inc. is quite good.

Someone was still under the illusion that Bruce is a normal human being? That's adorable.

Wait, what?! Thanks for the spoilers, douche!

and from what I also understand Nightwing has taken over as Batman, Tim Drake has handed reigns of Robin over to Damian, Bruces son, and has become Red Robin,

This was all in the resolution of Final Crisis and the build up to Grant Morrison's "Batman & Robin" series debut.

and there is a new Batgirl, the old Batgirl Barbra Gordon is now the Oracle,

Barbara has been Oracle for quite a long while...

and Batman is also aligned with Batwoman, and The Huntress...

I thought Bats had already had a semi-decent working relationship with The Huntress? Anyway, the new Batwoman's been around since after Infinite Crisis, I think.

EDIT: Oh and apparently Tim Drake was adopted by Bruce Wayne as well (when the fuck did this happen?!)

Not quite sure, but definitely before they introduced Damien Wayne.

Yuppp that sounds about right. If I remember correctly, Joker shot Ms. Gordon and paralyzed her so he could get Bruce's attention. That Joker is some guy. Definitely one of the best villains ever created.

And I'm perplexed with the whole going global with Batman as well. Makes me think that there's going to be a interesting plot twist somewhere. Perhaps this isn't the REAL Bruce Wayne and Wayne did in fact die. I don't know. I'm intrigued though.

EDIT: Oh Justin, I watched Red Hood on Netflix a few weeks back after you (or someone else- not too sure) recommended it. Any other Batman or Superman or any other Superhero movies worth watching?

So far I've liked pretty much all the DC Universe originals, I know you can watch Justice League: The New Frontier on Netflix Instant Queue, that one is defiantly worth checking out, others I would recommend are Green Lantern: First Flight, & Batman/Superman: Apocalypse

The only one I've seen out of those is Apocalypse. I'll watch the other ones this week probably. Thanks for the recommendations! :D

Is it me or has the Batman story gone the same route as Buffy Season 8? Basically decided there's little more to do with him generally so turned him into a leader of other Batmans and run a head of operations, kinda going against the whole, there can be only one policy?

I know the feeling, there's nothing better than holding a book when reading it. Reading online is irritating but there is no way I'm gettin these comic books where I live so...

Also Under the Red Hood is a gem, Amazing story-telling.
