The Best Of CM Punk

Colamania

Finally. Colin has come back...
Now available at Woolworths for just over 4, yes 4, English pounds. The original and best Punk, all his ROH and Indy work. Actually a great watch for a wrestling fan. Although I don't know where you'd get it, I recommend this to our US posters as well.

This guy is so overrated it's not funny anymore.

No not really, like Jake said he just doesn't fit the WWE style, if you watch anything he has done outside of WWE, you'd see he's great, from his legendary trilogy of matches with Samoa Joe, his feud with Raven, and great matches with guys like Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, AJ Styles, & Colt Cabana (and I'm sure there are so many others that I've forgotten), the guy was a masterful heel in ROH, especially toward the end there, and had a fantastic match with Christopher Daniels for the title at a 2005 ROH show, WWE just needs to let him do the things he does best, and get rid of that stupid ass GTS finisher (does anyone else think that it sounds more like a name you would give to a submission hold, I mean think about it "Go To Sleep"), I think they should just let him use the Pepsi Twist...rename it of course, but I think that would be a good finisher for him to use in WWE, it looks better, and he can hit it on just about anyone, Bottem line, Punk is not overratted, he just doesn't fit with WWE current way of doing things

He's also a natural heel. Punk as a face just doesn't work.

This is true, he got so much heat as a heel in ROH, and portrayed so much better then he did as a face, I think he's another one of those guys that if they turned him heel, he would be a nice fit with Edge's stable, he would give them that mid-card guy, they are currently missing, that's not to see Punk needs to be in a stable or should be in a stable, I think he could do just as well on his own, WWE just needs to learn how to capitalize on a wrestlers strengths, though I can understand why they wouldn't want him heel right now, with his whole straight edge superstar thing going on, I can see why they would want to promote that as a positive message, especially since they are being watched very closely right now by the public eye

You said he generated a lot of heel heat in ROH. their is a big difference between the WWE and ROH. ROH is barely selling out high school gymnasiums, while the WWE is selling out MSG. I dont believe he would be able to generate a lot of heel heat in the WWE. He can't wrestle his style in the WWE, so i think he is overrated, he is highly praised by the IWC. I guess I am not seeing what you all see. He just isn't cutting it IMO.

Can someone explain to me what you see in him?

He could generate plenty of heat. If he changes his gimmick to simply I'm better than you because I'm straight edge then he'll be over. simple but effective.

If you are asking what people see in him then find some of his indy matches.

But Brian doesn't like ROH matches cause they have "poor lighting" and "bad commentary"

I just curious as to how the size of a venue has anything to do with drawing heel heat, ROH fans tend to focus more on the talent and athletic ability of the wrestlers in he ring, these fans will start chants for both the heels and faces, so if someone can come into that environment and get those same fans to boo them and hate them, the same fans that cheered them like crazy when they were a face, then as a heel they have to be doing something right

or they try and use 900 moves in one single match

.

They do have "poor lighting" and "bad commentary" and they do use 900 moves a match. But it doesn't stop them from having good matches. The same could be said fro TNA ''bad commentary'' and a piss poor director and they use 850 moves per match. With added run ins and ref bumps. Same could be said for WWE ''bad commentary'' every match looks the same because they aren't allowed to do 900 moves a match.

IMO it does, it prevents them from telling a story... Its like hey "we just spent 15 minutes working on the leg, but hey, i am gonna climb the turnbuckles 3 times in a row". It just doesnt appeal to me.

They have some bit of storytelling, and i only watch TNA for Cage, Angle, and Styles, other than that i couldn't care for em.

the WWE's commentary isnt that bad, and atleast in the WWE they have story telling, and they can work a crowd, and the majority of them can sell an injury.

I'd suggest buying The Best of CM Punk DVD, it's very good. The extras are good too, some good matches in there. (Plugs it again)

If I can find it I plan on buying it, I got his Best of from ROH (Vol. 3), and it's good, I've never seen much of his indy work outside ROH, but would like to, so I'll be looking out for this one

um... if you havent noticed CM Punk is one of the most over people in the WWE right now.

:lmao: then why is Cena on the "A" show?

The only reason Cena is the main guy is because he is decent on the mic and appeals to little kids. Cena is nothing special in the ring. None of his best matches are considered to be on the level of CM Punks matches.

doesnt mean he sells :lmao:... I dont know a lot of fans who go to watch a "C" brand superstar :lmao:

Smackdown and ECW tape their shows at the same time if im not mistaken. So the fans are the same, Punk is as over on ECW than he is on Raw or Smackdown. Being over means you put fans in seats because people want o come to see you BTW.
