The Ascension's RAW Debut

A little bit if a lull...
Would be helpful if their finisher wasn't a ripoff of
The Eliminators..Total Elimination!!
Anyone else catch that??

They did not impress me at all, it might just be they are just getting started. They are not ready for the Uso's, maybe feud with Los Matadores or New Day for right now. There needs to be more tag teams to help push them along so they can be this Awesome destructive force, than maybe Wrestlemania the Uso's vs. the Ascension.

The Ascension was bad on NXT, too. They aren't very good at all, and just about anyone else in NXT in the main event scene would have been great on the main roster. I get it that they're trying to rebuild a tag program, but the Ascension were not impressive one time on any NXT programming. They look and wrestle and ACT like a team from 1988 in Crocket's territories.

While I missed it when it aired live, I went back and watched The Ascension on RAW. I had a few thoughts. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The crowd was generally dead, which can't really be blamed on The Ascension as most people don't know who they are - but it was a debut... something to get excited about it, which is a little telling. In-ring they did well, but the face paint did look hokey. I'm not against face paint but they should at least have had intricate or bad ass face paint if you are debuting in front of millions of people. Their size surprised me just a little as well (though I figured this would happen), Miz is bigger than Viktor and Mizdow is just about as big as Konnor. They did not look big and destructive.

I question why they had them debut against Mizdow in ring (other than he's a face), as Mizdow does not typically go out of his way to sell fast, high impact moves. Watch him take a Zig Zag, he just falls flat with no theatrics. It made their finisher look kind of crappy when he just lazily fell over to the Fall of Man, when they should have put a guy in there who looks like he gets folded in half with the move.

This and the obvious comparisons to The Road Warriors or Demolition, except these guys aren't small but aren't super jacked. I still dig The Ascension and hopefully they have a bright future in WWE, but I was wondering you guys' take on their debut.

I'm glad to see a new face in the tag division. It seemed like it was getting stale, it's only so many variations you can do Goldust and Cody Rhodes, Los Matadores and Usos.

I wasn't a fan of the timing of their appearance of the show. The crowd seemed either bored or tired.

I was hoping they would have debuted as soon the tag titles changed hands and destroy the Usos and Miz and Mizdow. It's been a while since there's been a dominate tag team.

Hopefully, when Usos and Miz and Mizdow have their rematch, The Acension come out and destroy them.

That's the Ascension?

Saw them for the first time last night on Smackdown. Are you kidding? This is what we've waited for through all the promos?

I suppose if soft-looking bodies with protruding guts (especially unattractive on such young men) are your thing, Ascension is the wave of the future.

To me, the smaller one makes me think of Duane Gill with a razor cut....and the larger one is trying so hard to make fierce faces that it looks contrived and stupid.

I dunno; maybe they've got some special psychology I'm not seeing, but without the Legion of Doom get-up, they remind me of the two tomato cans that Ryback used to take on in one match.

Well, we've got to give them a chance, I suppose.

Why do they bother with NXT if they just alter everyone for no reason, just bring them up from NXT with no alterions unless it makes 100% sense(i.e The Shield) I know they havent made a major adjustment but it still hurts that connection they have with the fans already. The Ascenion were a way better team when they were similar to the Undertaker but a tag team.

Piss off Vince and your recent years of horrible Creative tweaks to perfectly fine NXT gimmicks!

The Ascension were GOOD in their NXT version of the gimmick. They looked nothing like the Road Warriors and had their own thing going.

But they come up to the main roster and Vince thinks it's okay for them to do a modern rip off of the BELOVED Road Warriors? It makes me sick.

I feel so bad for the guys in The Ascension. They had no real options. If they refused this gimmick tweak they'd be delayed, their push would be terrible or they'd get no push at all!

It just plain sucks.

Even if they DO get rid of the Road Warriors rip-off look. They already mentioned them and they already looked like them. They will be forever compared to them and that's unfair because Road Warriors were great and should never be repeated.

UGH. Vince!

The Ascension might be the first team to get buried in their squash matches. The announcers called them stupid, not comparable to the Road Warriors and made fun of the fact that they were beating local talent. Jeez.

I don't care much for The Ascension, but I can't begin to tell you how pissed off I was at JBL trying to bury (I hate using the word as it's overused in wrestling talk but it's the appropriate word for this) them in only their second appearance on RAW. Pretty sure the heel commentator is supposed to help build the new heels on the block up? As I said, I don't care for The Ascension, but the tag team division needs all the help it can get. Why turn these guys into a joke? No reason they can't book these guys super strong, even if they're not the best in the ring or whatever. WWE continue to shoot themselves in the foot and fail to build up new guys the correct way.

3 matches for these clowns and 3 unimpressive showings with a promo bashing the Road Warriors... these guys are a waste of time... already an automatic fast forward when I get home from a late night at work

I thought the way they've booked Roman Reigns was bad, but it's nothing to what they're doing to the Ascension. Absolutely terrible. In a tag team division that needs a lot of help, here we have a ready made team. These guys aren't the stoogies that JBL is making them out to be, they are a legitimate team who held the NXT tag titles for over a year.

What they've done to them is a crime and every NXT star should be shaking in their boots watching it. Out of the all the NXT call ups, I was hoping the Ascension would have been one of the best. In three outings, they're getting the shit kicked out of them by the announcers of all people.

JBL you're a piece of shit for the comments you've made and the sooner you don't have a job the better. We can only hope it gets better, because Jesus Christ it can't get any worse.

The Ascension are a group of out of shape Indy Fed shit monkeys. They were terrible in NXT, they are terrible now. They are fat, but not in the Super Heavyweight way, but in the "I'm too lazy to work out" way. They are mediocre on the mic, cutting on Hawk and Animal is the closest thing to success they'll get.

Everyone in NXT should be paying attention. Getting over in NXT doesn't require much. Getting over in WWE is a whole different animal, and us WWE fans aren't going to let two lazy slobs off the hook. I don't blame JBL, Cole, OR Booker T. for what they said. The Ascension shouldn't even be on TV.

I hated the way they debuted. If you want to debut them to be monster heels, you send them in to attack a face tag team (ahem...the Usos). Have them do an interview promo instead of giving them a mic and hoping for the best. Their moves set is outdated and stale, and they want to make an impact by disrespecting two of the greatest tag teams in the history of the WWE. JBL is a tag team guy at heart so for some new tag team to come out and make that type of statement hit him a little close to home. Maybe by next Raw JBL will be back in character...until the Ascension show up again.

Not only did creative scrap the gimmick they refined, they stuck them with some road warrior rip off gimmick, and they also got buried on commentary. These guys never stood a chance.

Sorry, more like, these guys got over on NXT, but literally anyone can get over on NXT, just be "Not WWE", and then they discovered that they weren't NEARLY talented or skilled enough to actually be on TV. I just hope that they don't lose their jobs over this, and that they can go back down and learn how to be a good WWE TV Tag Team instead of chubby VFW wrasslers.
