While I missed it when it aired live, I went back and watched The Ascension on RAW. I had a few thoughts. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The crowd was generally dead, which can't really be blamed on The Ascension as most people don't know who they are - but it was a debut... something to get excited about it, which is a little telling. In-ring they did well, but the face paint did look hokey. I'm not against face paint but they should at least have had intricate or bad ass face paint if you are debuting in front of millions of people. Their size surprised me just a little as well (though I figured this would happen), Miz is bigger than Viktor and Mizdow is just about as big as Konnor. They did not look big and destructive.
I question why they had them debut against Mizdow in ring (other than he's a face), as Mizdow does not typically go out of his way to sell fast, high impact moves. Watch him take a Zig Zag, he just falls flat with no theatrics. It made their finisher look kind of crappy when he just lazily fell over to the Fall of Man, when they should have put a guy in there who looks like he gets folded in half with the move.
This and the obvious comparisons to The Road Warriors or Demolition, except these guys aren't small but aren't super jacked. I still dig The Ascension and hopefully they have a bright future in WWE, but I was wondering you guys' take on their debut.
