Swagger vs Undertaker

Mr. 619

Occasional Pre-Show
So because Raw was stuck in Europe, smackdown invaded monday nights and filled up the night. Jack Swagger came out and issued an open challenge....and the Undertaker accepted it!

Their match was one of the best matches I have seen in awhile, my favourite since Undertaker/HBK II. These two guys put on a lengthy ppv quality match and it was the only part of raw, where I was actually excited watching. When Swagger hit that DDT and went to pin the Undertaker, i got that excited feeling you get when you are watching a really good match. They told a good story and really got me into it.

My point is, I think that these two should deffinatly feud down the line, becasue I think they have great ring chemistry. Maybe even a Wrestlemania match one year. What do the rest of you think though??

I havent seen the match yet(I'm overseas and it doesn't get shown until tonight) but I do like Swaggers in ring ability. I think they pushed waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to fast with cashing in MiTB so soon. Remember its good for a year, they could have built him up more in that year. But I realize he cashed it in so soon because of the MiTB PPV comming up. Taker is great no matter what happens. I think it has a chance of becomming a good feud.

Hi, I'm a noob here and this is my first post. So, please go easy on me.

I think Taker vs Swagger last night was the greatest RAW match so far this year. We got to see some mat wrestling between the two.

While Swagger is a great wrestler and could pull out possible classics, I hope he will never face The Undertaker at Wrestlemania at all for one simple reason: His name isn't big enough. Taker should spend his possible last two Wrestlemanias battling iconic main eventers with big names like Jericho and Cena. Remember we already got the six nobodies for life (Giant Gonzales, King Kong Bundy, Big Boss Man, Big Show, A-Train, and Mark Henry) taking at least half the credibility of The Streak.

Swagger is a great wrestler, but his name isn't big enough to follow Batista, Edge, and Shawn Michaels twice. No offense, BTW.

While it was a good match, I am certain I saw Taker pretty much telling Swagger either what to do, or what he was going to do. I mean, I've seen wrestlers kind of "whispering" to each other, but I saw it way more in this match. While Swagger isn't a horrible wrestler, I believe that Taker did most of the work, and carried him enough to make this a good matchup.

it was a great match but i wish Swagger won because he has had 3 matches on raw since he won the MITB and has now lost all of them. Fair enough it was to taker and Orton but he could have maybe got DQ'd taking out taker and then taker could get some time off and make swagger look amazing.

Personally, I thought they would never face off, and when I found out that Taker was the surprise opponent for Swagger on RAW, i was like:wtf:, and before the match started I thought it would be another dominant performance by the deadman, but I was actually liked how the match went and made me wonder, just think of what it would do for Swagger's career to feud with taker, overall I would love to see SwaggervsTaker 2

I enjoyed the Taker/Swagger Match as well and probably one of the Best RAW Matches so far this year. Undertaker can still go and Swagger is probably one of the Best Wrestlers on the Roster right now. So when I heard the Gong I was like Oh Hell Yeah this should be good. So im sure we will probably get a Match with these two on a PPV somewhere soon. Maybe Summerslam if Swagger is still Champion by then.

I noticed this as well. It seemed like Swagger was resorting to that leg lock to figure out what he's doing... But, with the health of Taker's legs, Swagger may have been stalling or making sure he could continue.

Overall, it was a good match. I was wondering if I was going to see Swagger use that Gut-Wrench Powerbomb on Taker. I don't think Swagger's used it on someone with Taker's stature.

Yeah, it was a pretty good match so I wouldn't mind seeing these two go at it again on a bigger stage. Wrestlemania? I wouldn't say so at this stage, but if Swagger has a good year and becomes a top star in the company come Wrestlemania 27, then it could be a possibility. The thing is though, Taker only has so many Wrestlemanias left in him, so Swagger would have to have one hell of a strong year to warrant being in their against the Deadman.

I think there is a strong possibility of these two meeting again over the next year, whether it's a short feud or a lenghtly rivalry. I see both remaining on Smackdown, both are at the top of the SD card and one is a face and one is a heel. I know that doesn't automatically mean they are going to cross paths but it certainly gives them a chance. If Swagger can hold onto the title until Taker returns on a full time basis, then I can see Taker possibly being the guy to take the title off Swagger, although I don't see Swagger having a long title reign.

Anyway, I think there's a good chance of a possible Swagger/Taker feud down the line and it's one I wouldn't mind seeing. Taker could put Swagger over in a big way, even if Taker wins the matches.

I absolutely loved this match, I think it made Swagger look incredible strong, and I love how WWE is really building him right now, even though he's still loosing against the bigger guys (Randy and Undertaker to say the least) I still think they're building him into a legitimate champion, and I actually start to believe he'll retain at Extreme Rules.

they pushed swagger at first, he died down a bit, then they make him win MITB. then he wins and gets another push? I kinda like it. Its almost like a test to see if he can handle his own show.

Well it was a good showing from both, I thing the unfortunate incident of the Raw crew allowed them to analyze the possibility of Taker having a feud with Swagger and the match was very good, Swagger showed his potential and Taker even pulled some moves you don't see from him that often (the snap suplex looked really cool), so overall the match very good.

Umm, what? I didn't think it was a great match at all. A little sloppy at times and didn't seem like the two meshed really well together at all. I'm a big Swagger fan and he's had more better matches against the likes of Tommy Dreamer and Matt Hardy, not to mention some really good stuff with Cena and Christian. Just because it was a young guy facing a big star and it lasted over 10 minutes it doesn't make it a great match. Swagger/Orton from a few weeks ago was much better, This definetly isn't the Raw match of the year, not by any stretch.

Were we watching the same match? If it was a main event at a ppv it would be disappointing, but for a main event on any other live show then it would be great. The number 1 thing and the only major thing that I absolutely cannot stand about WWE being PG is the fans. This generation of fans are so not into the show. It is very rare to see them actually get so into the show other than at ppvs when there are a lot of older fans present. But last night the crowd was very into Swagger and Taker and it made for an incredible match. There is no doubt in my mind that there are numerous fantastic matches that take place right before our very eyes, but we just don't notice it because the crowd is so dead. Luckily that wasn't the case for last night and the skills of Taker and Swagger's match was shown to it's fullness. For some reason new fans and old fans alike all love Taker. It's rare to ever see a passionate Taker hater. His character is so unique, he has the skill, and he is very dedicated to WWE with all the years he's been with the company. And for that he is 1 of the most respected Wrestlers of our generation. Whenever a crowd is hot they seem to go nuts for Taker. He 100% deserves it. They were hot for him last night, and as recent as a few months ago when Raw came to MSG. Taker is highly respected.

As for the match, all the elements were there. Great competitors, great crowd, great match. It should be able to shut up the people saying Swagger doesn't deserve to be World Champ by all the people hating on WWE just to hate, but Swagger proved he could hang with the most respected man in WWE today. He did it and had a great match. A great atmosphere and a great match! Raw really had an impressive show when the deck was entirely stacked against them.
