Styles/Daniels - Reunited as Heels?

AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels were one of my all-time favourite teams - they had the flair, the gimmick and the pure athletic ability to just blow me - and many others - away. In many ways they were a perfect tag team.

The two have had varied success as singles wrestlers since. Most would argue that Styles' heel turn and re-characterisation has rebuilt him for the new TNA, leaving him to be called upon when needed. Daniels' heel turn on the other hand has been a bumpy road - a botched feud with Sting and short, insignificant reunion of Triple X.

Either way, both are now heels. Styles could use something to build him further in my opinion and Daniels needs something full stop. Why not reunite one of the most popular teams in TNA history, but as heels? I think we got a glimpse of what it would be look like when they temporarily reunited on iMPACT! I'll tell you what it would look like - pure, concentrated awesome. As a heel team, they could be even better than as faces. They could both build their character's and push up their status within the company. It'd be explosive if they had an actual feud when they broke up, rather than just fizzling out like last time.

Of course, I'm not saying this shoul happen immediately. Daniels is "fired" and Styles is engaged with this whole Tomko/Cage/Angle thing, but the door is open and opportunity is definitely knocking.

Didnt they lose a Losers Split Forever match against LAX?

I may have got the name wrong but I am sure their last match together ended in defeat and they were not allowed to ever tag together again. (ie; the same stip that split up AMW and XXX)

But saying that, I believe they have recently tagged in a 6 man match on Impact, which might throw my theory out the window.

Yea, they did, but that hasnt stopped some other people from teaming together, but anyway, I think that this would be an awesome idea, i mean, if they did that, and add LAX as faces to it, it could be better than WWE's tag team division is right now, well hell, it already is, but you know what i mean

Honestly I'm more interested in the current version of AJ Styles, and a Daniels team up is just another hot shot deal in my opinion. They have spent a good amount of time in investing in this goofy AJ Character. There is going to be a huge payoff with two good feuds with Cage and Angle later on down the line, and potentially a feud with Tomko (Hey, he's getting better).

Daniels is 36, he is not young any more. I hate to say it about someone that bust their ass, but the ship has sailed as far as Daniels being a legit main event threat. He is going to go down as one of those solid mid carders that never made it to the next level. It's not a knock, it's simple fact. Daniels is on the downside of his career and lumping Styles with him at this point is a step back for AJ.

I agree with Asparagus. You would risk falling into a trap of teaming guys together whenever an idea stalls just to keep them quasi-relevant. We see it in WWE with Benjamin and Haas - there is too much talent to release but to keep going to a tag team and splitting them up OVER AND OVER is a waste. You need to allow them both to move on, as great as the team was.

You saw the same stuff with America's Most Wanted. There was the tease at the split, the split, and reunion, and the last split. Ok, cool. Great feud, but it's over now. Don't resort to jamming them together if their momentum slows down.

I think with the Rep AJ has now being with the "big boys", Cage Angle and Tomko bringing Daniels into the mix could without a doubt sky rocket Daniels. Hes a good heel and i could see him in this mix on AJs side without a doubt like perhaps AJs conscious about what to do with Cage.

I dunno man. I loved the team when they were together and even now theyd be capable of some awesome matches (vs shelley and sabin anyone?) but i think itd be a step in the wrong direction.

2007 will probably go down as a wasted year for AJ. Alright, he's been pretty high profile, and in some awesome matches......but his character has stagnated and who can really say he functions well as a lackey for christian or angle.......priority should be getting him back as a face and giving him a decent singles feud (dont care who with really)

Daniels has had one reunion recently that hasnt exactly taken off for him, does he really need another? Again, giving him a meaty feud with someone (lethal?) would be great.......the feud with sting looked promising, but, as always, seemed rushed.......

so, no, in my opinion these guys would be better off flying solo for a while

I reckon that is a stupid idea, The 2 at there peek periods had probably 2 of the best Gimmicks going around in TNA. When AJ was on top he was great and i thought he secured a spot then and when Daniels was running the X Division he had all the potential in the world to move to Main Event status i reckon the Fallen Angel gimmick is a great Gimmick but i reckon Daniels should get himself a stable behind him to build he's character as a leader.

AJ and Daniels was a horrible team, I hated their degenerate gimmick. AJ was held back by the poor talents of Daniels, he had to carry the team by himself. But luckily Daniels has been fired, so AJ can go on and win the Title. Personally, I think he should join Nash and Hall to make the nWo. He's the perfect replacement for X-Pac! The WWE nWo rocked!

AJ/Daniels were a great team, one of the best, and it cause Daniels and AJ are two of the most talented guys in TNA, I really got to wonder if you have any wrestling knowledge what so ever, cause once again you think Daniels has been fired for real, and he hasn't it's an angle so they can repackage him, and bring him back, AJ is more than likely not going to being winning any single gold anytime soon, and the NWO would be the worst idea to date, Hall is done with TNA most likely for good since he no-showed a PPV and was suppose to be in the ME, a big no no, X-Pac sucks, I can't even remember the last time he's had anything resembling a decent match, and the WWE NWO was horriable, it was a complete waste of time, and went nowhere, completely pointless

I watch iMPACT, you know the two hour show that is on every thursday night, I've been watching it for the past couple years, I started watching TNA as soon as they started airing it on FSN and then followed to to Spike, AJ/Daniels were not horriable, their feud with LAX (not LXA) was great, and they faced them many times, any match containing high spots is going to have botched spots in it, that's just a fact, and their matches were great some of the best tag action out there

I believe Daniels has been fired for real, and a lot of others do as well. It's highly believable, especially after all of his backstage antics.

Daniels has not been fired, it's been reported by more than one source that he is simply just being repackaged, if they were going to fire him they wouldn't do it on national TV, that's not how business works, those things happen behind closed doors

and yes the NWO was pointless, name one thing they did that culdn't have been accomplished with out the NWO, Rock Hogan wasa decent match but ultimitaly had really bad story surronding it, I mean am I seriously suppose to believe that after Hogan beats the hell out of Rock, resulting in him needing to go to the hospital but not before the NWO chains the Ambulance shut so that Hogan can repeatedly hit it with a Semi, and then miraculously weeks later Rock is all healed up and ready to take on Hogan, and after the match they shake hands and everything is all good, even though just weeks earlier Hogan nearly killed Rock, please that's complete bullshit, I mean I've heard of suspending belief but that's just a bit much

Back to the point they shouldnt repackage them and aj at slammiversary is going to accidentally win the belt in the king of the mountain and then tell everyone to go fuck off. He is the most talented in ring performer in wrestling today and if tna would be intelligent they would look at what they did with him 3 yrs ago, turn him back face and have him dominate the way it was that got them their television deals.
