Speculation Regarding the Death of Chris Benoit

It's really sad everything in his wrestling career will not get much respect now. I know watching his match at Wrestlemania 20 now it would be hard to focus on Benoit's wrestling skills. You'd just think of how he killed his wife, kid, then himself. And on CNN they played the part after he won the belt where he hugged his wife and son and it was just....I don't even know just so eerie. It's a shame that he did that because it just ruins your image of him no matter what you do to cover it up.

Well i was a Bret Hart fan first and fore most, but Benoit was close i really am confused and i dunno wot to think anymore about from the fact a guy i respected as an entertainer has done sumfin terrible and murdered his family, i am not meaning to upset anyone but my god this is like i said beofre a dark damn day

unfortunatly, benoit joins the list of performers whose personal life eclipses their hard work in the ring. i would never have imagined that he could have been capable of something like this, and am still hoping in vain that what i have read is all wrong. but i will never be able to watch a chris benoit match again, without feeling sorrow for his wife and child. i cant speculate how the wrestling world will continue after this, but i believe benoits name and career will always be tainted

Well, there is nothing much I can say about this. A couple months ago I was angry because I wanted to order the Chris Benoit:Hardknocks DVD but for some reason, amazon wouldn't let me. Now I'm glad that I didn't, buy it because I would of thrown it in the trash. I could watch the matches, I just couldn't be able to watch his family praise him and saying what a great person he is knowing what just transpired over the last couple of days. The thought that he had his 7 year old son in a choke hold, killing him, just makes me sick to my stomach. The way he killed his wife just makes me even more sick. I remember watching Woman in WCW. While I was watching WWE OnDemand last week, I was telling my brother how much I loved Woman as a manager. Even though she didn't speak much, her actions at ringside spoke for what kind of a manager of she was. God bless Beautiful Nancy and Adorable little Daniel.

He wasn't a hero. Should've never been viewed as one. I admit, when I was a kid, I was all about Hulk Hogan as my "hero" but the truth is, Chris Benoit had demons.. ugly demons.. and he wasn't the great guy we all thought he was. It's a damn shame and ya, it hurts. It just teaches me to show my son that those guys on TV, whether it be baseball players, basketball players, pro wrestlers.. just aren't heroes..

Well i gotta disagree i mean heros are meant to b honest good living peole with good morals.....i was obviously wrong in this case and pride is the hardest thing to swallow

"Regarding a comment Ballard had made about the deaths being "bizarre", Ballard said that he felt the presumed timing of the deaths of the victims and the suicide was bizarre, as it would mean that Benoit was in the home for several hours with the dead bodies. " that crazy stuff. he totally lost it, i he bared a day and some hours in the same house where he murdered his wife and seed. damn pimpin, its crazy , the way others described him as good folk. weird shish

dis is still hard 2 digest i mean now he will 4ever be known as a murderer not as a wrestler dat was da best at wat he dun

Yes he was an incredible wrestler hell i even compared him to Bret Hart which should b a compliment but as things stand now its an insult to Bret Hart, i juts wish this was all a bad case of murder and nothing else i know that sounds terrible but it would b easier to digest

What the fuck man...WWE issues a statement....saying that steroids were definately not involved. That is so incredibly seflish it's ridiculious. ONE OF YOUR CLOSEST FRIENDS AND MOST POPULAR EMPLOYEES MURDERED HIS FAMILY BEFORE COMMITTING SUICIDE AND ALL YOU CAN THINK ABOUT IS WHAT THE IMAGE OF STEROIDS MIGHT DO TO YOUR COMPANY?! That's despicable, completely despicable.

No it's not. As soon as it was stated he killed them all the wrestling haters started calling it roid rage as a valid cause and used this as leverage to attack the WWE and wrestling in general. The WWE had to state that steroids had nothing to do with this and the roid rage thing is an false and stupid comment to make. I support them in saying what they after the baseless attacks on this industry I have had to witness.

In a second message to a neighbor, Benoit said that the door of the house was open and the pets were outside.

"And our assumption is that that was an effort to try and get somebody to come find the bodies after the suicide," Ballard said. "That is our assumption."

Well a day has passed, and it's finally sinking in that he did this. All i can say is the WMXX match with him winning the World Heavy Weight title use to be one of my top moments watching wrestling but i can no longer look at it the same and it's really sad, just a shame no other way to put it. Everything he ever accomplished down the drain just like that. I don't understand how people can still praise him after this.. Yea he was or was one of the best pure wrestlers of all time, but what he did over shadows that and it doesn't even matter anymore. The saddest thing for me though is his child, heres a kid with a respected dad that was suppose to be his hero, and he was going to grow up and follow in his footsteps and live a great life. All snatched in a moment. Truly sad

Hey, Just a quick one but in our local UK paper it says his text messages mentioned quotes from the bible and parts of his will. Thats why they alerted authorites so quick.

for better or worse, i think this kind of publicity will increase wwe's ratings as much if not more than the donald trump storyline, vince explosion storyline, etc. While it might decrease viewership among diehard fans, it will dramatically increase intrigue among the general public.

WWE has NEVER gotten this much publicity. From a business point of view, all publicity is good publicity.

Gotta say i feel sorry for Benoit's closest friends in the wwe, imagine finding out someone you thought you knew so well turned out to be a killer. I cant even believe Benoit did something so disgusting.

I am big fan of WWE, and I'm sorry to say this but I think they're just trying to cover their asses right about now. The bibles don't prove that he wasn't suffering from roid rage... if anything it proves that he was out of his mind at the time, which is what the doctor said on the news conference today; that roid rage causes a person to go through hallucinations and deep depression... if that was the case, Benoit obviously wasn't in his right mind. I love how WWE tries to completely rid their website of everything involving him but they jump on a chance to defend themselves when steroids come into play. April 10 Benoit was tested and passed... that was a long time ago, he could've been using steroids from then until now. WWE just doesn't want to face the questions of why they don't uphold a stricter policy ever since Eddie Guerrero dropped dead.

What a load of crap thiis is they may get publicity but you honestly think they're seeking it? No!

IF these reports about Daniel Benoit having needle marks in his arm caused by growth hormone inducing drugs, are true. What type of parents let a 7 year old boy use these kind of substances? Unless of course - a)They had no idea he was using them (unlikely) b) They turned a blind eye (shocking) c) They encouraged their use (disgraceful) d) Chris Benoit administered a lethal over-dose prior to the asphyxiation (unthinkable) . The latter would make no sense due to the "quite some time" part of Ballard's comment.

where did you hear that?

I've read several reports that said that Benoit has shown signs of a mental illness in the past. Perhaps he was a psychopath. Who knows. There was definitely some mental problems going on with him. One thing that is true is that "roid rage" does not last 2 days. That's impossible.

All Publicity is NOT good publicity.... but if as I suspect, roids are ruled out... we have a simple, sad case of mental illness... it can come at any time, for any reason. WWE will NOT be improved by this... no one will watch because this happened... REAL fans will not desert Benoit's colleauges, indeed, it is the least we can do for all they have done for us over the years... but any casual fan may be deterred for a while...

It is sad, tragic and a little unsavoury, but it happened... he was not evil... he was clearly ill... his act was not intended to make any grand statement or there would have been a note... this was not Kurt Cobain with his "little moment, as read by Courtney" in front of thousands on the lawn... this was the sad end of a man who clearly was not the same as his friends knew... those who use it against WWE, Vince or anyone are the evil ones in my book..

The kid was 7,so if this is true, more than likely someone in the house was giving them to the kid.

I'm not saying that Chris Benoit didn't commit this crime but here are a few things to think about before deciding that Chris Benoit really did kill himself and his family:

- Could somebody else have murdered the Benoit family. Could an ex of Nancy be out to get revenge on Benoits family? Reports have stated that for the last year Benoit had become paranoid that "Someone was out to get him", and that he was also worried that someone was out to get Nancy as well. ( http://www.1wrestling.com/news/newsline.asp?news=29059 ) . Who was Benoit worried about? Clearly there was atleast one person that Benoit believed could potentially cause harm to him and his family.

-If someone has decided to commit murder, and try and get away with it, the best thing to do is to make it look like somebody else committed the crime. Even better, make it look like one of your victims committed the crime, that way it is impossible for them to defend themselves, and the police don't need to prove the case, make any arrests, or do anything aside from declaring the situation a murder-suicide.

-Chris Benoit hated religion, yet bibles were found by each of the bodies.
Also the timing of the murders doesn't make a lot of sense, and the police even called it very bizarre. His wife was killed on Friday, his son on Saturday, and then Benoit killed himself on Sunday? It seems very convient that the murders are spaced out just enough that the investigating officers would be able to tell that Chris Benoit died after Nancy and Daniel, thereby making Chris Benoit the obvious culprit.

- Why would Chris Benoit kill his son? If it is true that Benoit did snap at the marital problems between he and Nancy and kill her, why would he kill his son? Because his son witnessed him kill Nancy? that doesn't make sense seeing as Chris planned on killing himself and wasn't trying to get away with it. The police said Daniel was found asphixiated in bed, did Daniel and Chris sit in the house for a day, each knowing that Chris had just killed Nancy, and then after close to 24 hours Daniel went to bed and Chris waited until then to kill his own son? Why would Chris Benoit wait almost a day to kill himself after killing his son? It seems to be that in a murder-suicide the suicide happens pretty much right after the murder takes place. But conviently in this case (and keep in mind, even the police described the timing of the murders bizarre) all the murders are spread out by just enough time that it would be obvious to the police investigating the case that some of the bodies had been dead for longer than other ones. Clearly, whoever was alive last must have done it (see point 1 about framing someone else for the murder).

- Communication from Benoit to the WWE during this period was all done through text messaging, which only means the messages came from Benoit's phone, not necessarily from Chris himself.

- Here's is where things get dicey: Is it plausible that someone (perhaps the person that Benoit was worried was out to get him) spent some time plotting this murder, and plotting to frame Benoit for it? Could someone have entered the Benoit house without force and killed Nancy, then either restrained or sedated Daniel and Chris (and anyone who has watched enough AandE can tell you there are plenty of sedatives that won't show up on a toxicology report, especially if nobody is looking for it), then waited for a day to kill Daniel, and then a day to kill Benoit, just so there would be no doubt to the investigating officers that this was an open and shut case of murder-suicide, and no further investigation is needed.
Quite possibly this explanation could be seen as far-fetched, but answer this, is it more far-fetched than Chris Benoit, a man everyone liked, who everyone said loved his children more than anything, decided to not only kill his wife but put a bag over his own son's head killing him, and then waiting for possibly as long as a day to take his own life?!

Yes, it seems like this would have been an extremely well-thought out, calculated plan, but how many times have the police convicted someone only to find out later they convicted the wrong person because the real murderer made it look like someone else had committed the crime?

Not that I know anything or that any of us do. But it would not make sense for Chris' Good friend Dean Meleanko (sp) to say all he did about the love Chirs had for his family. And I am pretty sure Dean would have received a text as well.

Secondly yeah he had steroids in his home but he had just recently come off a injury and with chronic neck problems steroids help with the growth of bone after an injury.

Last, I hope that when we find out what happens it will point to something other than a premeditated murder. And if it is "roid rage" the WWE will have hell to pay.

I'm pretty sure the investigators know what they are doing and what they have reached is very sadly the truth.
