South Park Season 15 discussion

I liked it, the idea that by eating fast food crap from all of those restaurants gave Cartman the ability to produce a delicious super chemical was cool.

The main story reminded me of all of our cynical opinions. I sometimes can't decide if I would rather enjoy crap or see through the bullshit (kind of like some of the discussions of being a John Cena fan around here).

I do agree with people that single Randy could have been a funny character and led to new stories. I don't expect Stan's drinking will go too far. Everything will probably be back to normal next week.

I didn't mind the episode, thought it had its moments but dragged on pretty good at some parts.

I absolutely loved the Ass Burgers subplot with Cartman making delicious burgers by shoving them up his ass and although there were funny parts with Stan having asbergers the story line was boring in other ways. I did like the parts where Stan was drunk, especially when he confronted Kyle but the rest of the Stan storyline was pretty forgettable but at the end everything went back to normal and with South Park that's never a bad thing.

Ass Burgers was hysterical. But all the Matrix crap was stupid. The movie's 10 years old, why mock it now?

Finally, I don't get all the sadness the show is making. It's supposed to be funny, not serious, and a 10 year old with a drinking problem isn't that funny.

Oh, and can someone explain why South Park is now allowed to say Shit on US Television? Does the FCC just not care anymore?

The episode last night had it's moments. It was fucking hysterical when Kyle was yelling at Cartman and the assburger thing was fucking funny. I felt they played it to safe. They had such a good angle with the parents divorcing and just ruined it by making them get back together. There was no point in even divorcing them in the first place. Altogether a good episode, but i've come to expect more than that.

I made a prediction that Stan's dad attempted to get his mom back only to find out she has been with Chef who has come back from the dead. Needless to say, I was way off.

From what I remember from my Media Law class last year, stations such as Comedy Central and TBS are not controlled by the FCC like you're local cable channels. I think it's whether a channel is on cable or not, but I can't completely remember. But those channels are self-censored, meaning they control what they allow. Of course, they still can't allow ever allow nudity or the word "fuck" before a certain time, but for the most part they are self-monitered.

I think I got that right. At the very least, I'm close enough to remembering it for you to get the gist.

I too was thrown a little off by the Matrix reference, but it was very, very funny ("Or Aliens or whatever...fuck you") and I'm interested to see what they have planned with that swerve at the end.

It's not just Comedy Central, Spike's "Blue Mountain State" says shit quite often as well. Not sure of the laws, but i'd assume after a certain time, words are allowed to be said.

I'm not at all offended, I love it, I just never heard it before and as such was shocked.

I still don't get why they seem to slowly edge away from the funny stuff. I watched most of the block of South Park last night on Comedy Central, and the whole Stan depression thing is not even attempting to be funny. South Park is a comedy. Yet they end on sour notes it seems now.

I also found absolutely nothing funny about Stan becoming a 10 year old Alcoholic. It's actually sad.

I loved everything else about the episode (even the Matrix stuff, I just didn't get why they mocked it now, 10 years later, instead of when it was actually popular).

I finally get what they did there and it makes a bit more sense to me now. It's like they were aware that they backed themselves into a corner and they didn't know where to go with it. Thus Sharon saying, "It's best to just stick with what you know."

Doesn't Stan portray one of the creators of the show while Kyle portrays the other, or am I just full of shit? If so, maybe this portrays their lives growing up? I may not even know what i'm talking about, just going off a rumor that trickled it's way down to me.

That was the intention. Stan was supposed to be Trey while Kyle was Matt. But then they both realized that they're actually both a lot more Cartman.

When the show started Parker used to describe Stan as himself and Kyle as co-creator Stone.

I do not know if his parents got divorced for a short period of time or if he had a drinking problem at age 10.

When they do commentary Trey talks about his parents all the time, but through all of it he never actually mentions whether or not they're still together.

Also, Kyle's parents are named after Matt's real parents, Stan's are named after Trey's. Just a fun fact.

I thought last nights episode was pretty fucking hilarious all around although I shouldn't be surprised every time Butters ans Cartman are paired up its nothing but gold. I liked pretty much the whole episode and especially enjoyed Butters new "family" giving him a leaf blower and when he wants to go home they drop him off at el pollo loco, awesome stuff!

SP last night was solid. It was consistently funny and clever without beating any jokes in to the ground. How do we get Butters nominated for an Emmy?

This was one of those episodes where you looked at it and just shook your head saying "wow did I really just watch that", but in a good way. It started slow but then by the end it was total over the top insanity which South Park pulls off like no one else can. Good stuff.
