Somebody Convince Me to Start Watching iMPACT! Again

In my opinion, TNA has the most interesting personalities around. We are also seeing less and less of the older stars and seeing the younger and homegrown talent finally getting their shot at the limelight. The feuds and matches are making much more sense. Most of all, I can sit through the whole two hours of Impact and feel pretty much satisfied at the end.

WWE is another thing, though. I am constantly finding myself clicking back and forth between channels, watching other stuff and checking back for something interesting. I'm sick of Michael Cole. The Twitter over-exposure and guest celebrities is too much to bear anymore. I'm tired of watching anyone hold the WWE title and meaning an instant feud with John Cena. I'm tired of Cena's "super powers"....ie getting beat-down for 30 minutes, then instantly jumping up like he was never hurt, two flying shoulder bumps, 5 knuckle shuffle, Attitude Adjuster and one-two-three. Cena Wins...again, again, again, again, again and again. Diva matches...3-5 minute championship matches. Ugh! Really??? When a Diva's entrance is better to watch than their matches, something is terribly wrong. Bland, generic characters makes Masked Kane's character look all the more cartoonish and out of place. I can go on, I'm getting mad again. LOL

:worship: TNA :wtf: WWE

I have not posted in these forums in quite a while, but this discussion was good enough to drag me out.

I will admit that I prefer WWE's product to TNA's. WWE is just crisper (from music, to promos, to overall production value). But the fact that TNA is not as crisp and is in these smaller arenas with clearly a different type of crowd is what makes it quite interesting.

Sting is still an electric performer and is great in any on-screen capacity. Bobby Roode has really taken the World Championship and run with it and become a legit top tier guy. I am not a huge fan of James Storm (been there done that with drinking rednecks before) but even he can be entertaining at times.

As far as the pure wrestling value. People like Daniels, Styles, Shelley, Aries and of course Kurt Angle keep this promotion as good as any out there. I am not blinded by the fact that wrestling is about a whole helluvalot more than technicians in the ring. But it definitely is nice to see really solid matches on a regular basis.

If you are a wrestling fan, there is no reason to not keep up with RAW, Smackdown! and Impact! All three of them have great performers and solid storylines going on right now.

I am not saying I watch every minute every week. But Impact Wrestling is on an upswing and is fresh on a regular basis. I don't know if they are anywhere near competing with the E on a serious level ... but I know that they are worth watching as the best alternative.

I would watch impact because impact is an alternative show. it is not watered down. although lots of flaws, i think it is a better fit for 20+ years old viewers. if you don't like impact and watch WWE instead, i would still watch Impact, because if Impact gets better viewership, it will only make WWE better than it is right now. Don't forget WWE's best years were not when they had every great wrestler in the world in early 2000s but when they had to make the show more interesting in late 1990s.

What a terrible analogy. You're not asking the equivalent of a salesman to convince you to watch TNA. You're asking the equivalent of the customers to convince you. That's not our job. That's great, you got responses, but you don't find it a bit silly to ask people to give you reasons to watch a show? Watch the show and come up with your own reasons.

Wow, haven't been here in a while. Howdy, y'all.

Just had to come on here and say how ridiculous this response is.

Your analogy of asking the customers to convince somebody actually helps his argument too.

Have you ever heard of customer reviews?? That's pretty much the customer selling another person (or convincing a person not to buy) a product based on their experience. I know I have researched many things from hotels to cameras and other things based on reviews, both consumer and professional. And I'm normally very satisfied with the results of my effort.

Therefore, it's the equivalent of him asking for customer reviews. Which is logical, makes sense, and is perfectly normal. And not silly by any means.

Nice way to kill your own argument and help his in the process. Have a nice day! :)

I am not into torturing people so I will NOT give you a reason to watch that garbage. I forgot who it was that said this but the show gives me a damn headache. Just too much useless crap crammed into two hours. They only have a few decent guys, not much else. I recommend DVR because you can usually watch all the good parts in about 45 minutes or less. If you can DVR it or if you are not busy or a basketball fan, go ahead and watch it, just don't expect too much.

There's not much else to do on a thursday night. Always Sunny won't be back on until fall. O'Reilly factor re-airs three times so you could either watch it twice or switch over to TNA. They don't always dedicate 20 minutes to women's matches that no one cares about. Just sometimes. And you can change the channel durring the talking segments and mute the announcers during the wrestling. There are some talented guys on the roster so if you ignore the storylines and day dream your own finishes to what otherwise would be a decent match you'll enjoy the show just fine. It actually makes decent DVR theater since you can pick and choose which parts to watch.

I'll give you that some of their screwy endings are getting tedious at best. SOmetimes I would like to watch a PPV without 5 unclean endings on one card... But has it not been like that consistently for the past few years? Was it not like that in WCW for a LONG time? Is it not like that in WWE from time to time? Maybe it's not a GOOD thing, but I've just come to accept annoying booking as a part of wrestling... I also happen to think TNA's women's division isn't all that bad. Certainly more enjoyable than WWE's! I'm not even going to touch on "changing the channel during talking segments". :banghead:

As for your argument about there being nothing to do on Thursday nights? That is total bullcrap. Thursdays have long-since been one of TV's most populated nights, and outside of Sundays most of the prime-time draws that aren't rivaling MNF and Raw are held then. Just in comedies alone, you have the Office, Community, Big Bang Theory, and Psych. In fact, one of the primary reasons that Smackdown left Thursdays is because they stopped being able to compete with several top draws.

Because, If you can get pass seeing Hogan and Bishcoff on your screen, they really do have a very talented roster.

The only reason I'm not going to bitch you out about this...about having the most recognizable face in wrestling and one of the all-time best kayfabe leaders on TV when you desperate need it as a lower-end product...is because you saved yourself in the end.

Last I could tell, Beavis and Butthead episodes run on Thursday nights at 10, with previous week's rerun at 9 or 9:30. Stick with those, I'd say. Not a fan? Watch anyway; still better than Impact.
I'm guessing you have gotten a few infractions and/or warnings for posting spam. I say that because your sig is obviously a passive-aggressive slap towards the mods are the rules here in the forums. Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, there are reasons for the rules, and even more reasons that you're getting in trouble for not following them? Take this as a perfect example... NO, they don't require long essays from you, they require you to state your opinion, and provide REASONS for your opinion. Just saying "Beavis and Butthead is better than watching Impact" is your opinion, but you have NO reasons. It doesn't take a damn essay to write ONE or TWO more sentences defend your post. Don't blame others for your incompetence.

I like how you TNA fans use this thread to bash WWE!
A couple things have been said against the WWE, most of them fairly accurate. If anything that was a response to a TON of terribly-worded attacks against the TNA product... Notice how all of the anti-TNA crap in this thread, as totally expected as it all is, shows no signs of intelligent writers or well thought-out opinion backed up with fact. It's just the same recycled garbage over and over again...

Should they not defend themselves against hordes of ignorance, whose slander not only makes them look bad, but makes the perpetrators product look even worse...? I wouldn't say Bully Ray, the best heel currently in pro wrestling, is worse than watching paint dry. I wouldn't say James Storm, who is quickly becoming one of the best promo workers and faces in TNA, is worse than paint drying.

Dynamite, honestly I watch Impact for the differences it has from WWE. And because I have to...because if I don't I get in a lot of trouble. As I said, Bully Ray has evolved into this heel machine, and I LOVE his recent work in the last few months. Jeff Hardy's return has been handedly splendidly. They are building up Gunner in a very intense, but slow-ish route that will ultimately benefit him in the end. Storm and Roode, two homegrown talents, have evolved into truly great talents and are on top of the company. AJ has taken more of a backseat to put over other talents, but hasn't slowed down one bit. I dont' want to say "watch TNA because they do certain things better than WWE"... Watch TNA because you're a wrestling fan that may want something different on a weekly basis. Personally I just can't get enough weekly episodic wrestling, so that's enough for me. If you need to be sold, watch the weekly TV from the start of 2012 to right now, and if you don't like it after the next PPV, stop watching! I will say, their TV is WAY better than PPV. Haven't really enjoyed a single TNA PPV since BFG...

Why to watch TNA?

The main event scene is actually compelling. Since Bound for Glory the main event scene has consisted of Robert Roode, James Storm, Bully Ray (who gets shitted on way to much in this forum, that's another topic) and Jeff Hardy. How many times in recent memory you seen a tag team break up & both people in the tag team get equal run? Name the last time. Storm has been built up way, I am actually a fan of Jeff Hardy when I couldn't care less, and Bully has continued to shine each and every single week since the company put faith in him.

Austin Aries equals win. Nuff said about him.

The Knockout Division is the deepest, most talented group of women on televised wrestling, while the booking can be better for the talent they have, an objective person will tell you the booking is way better then The E, which isn't saying much I know, at least they aren't squashing their most talented Diva's in TV matches that last one minute and twenty seconds. If Natayla were in TNA, she would at least look some what good in defeat, not the bullshit thats happening now with her jobbing to everyone under two minutes.

Somoa Joe and Magnus have excellent chemistry together. Heck. Even the Crimson/Morgan tag team is starting to work with me. Their feud reminds you of the days where wrestling was physical. The guys don't like each other. What could be better.

Sting is a cool authority figure. He shines without overshadowing the talent. You know Sting is there, but he is not THE show.

So there are plenty solid reasons to watch Impact Wrestling. You'll like some stuff, you'll hate others. No wrestling show is 100& perfect. Watch for the people you root for, and when someone you don't like comes on screen turn the channel.
