I thing you misunderstood me by a long shot. The American "thing/tradition" part was a joke. What I was saying was that I have just read two posts here that came off as slightly xenophobic - or as they call patriotism. I posted in a U.S. forum regarding the celebration of days like Cinco de Mayo and, well, that's where my joke comes in. I was just surprised to see people across the pond feel that way.
