Want some Green rep? Read below and see if you'd like to do me a little favor.

So anyone who plays RPG's knows that gaining levels or gathering up money to buy better items can both be painfully boring time consuming tasks. It generally tends to be far more enjoyable if I have some good music to listen to. In the past I have levelled up while listening to stuff like Dragonforce, Linkin Park, Nightwish, and classic rock with other random artists thrown into the mix.

I am currently in my second play through of FF13 and will soon be going on a huge levelling spree. Fang is my lead as a Commando, Lightning is a Ravager, and Hope is a Medic, while the other three have not seen as much use. I'm still levelling Snow/Vanille/Sahz, but none are working toward a specialist role at the moment. My goal if possible is to get my main three to become Super Specialists in their respective roles, but gathering up those Crystarium Points takes forever, plus my levelling playlist has remained unchanged for almost two years. It needs some new material.

If you'd like to help me out (or if you're just here for the rep), recommend me something cool to listen to. Tracks you listen to during levelling sprees or that help you get through long boring tasks of your own are what I'm looking for. I like anything that is heavy, catchy, or has a good beat. Rock is my favorite genre, country is my least favorite, although I'll give anything at least one listen. Surprise me with something cool. :)

The ones I like the most will be rewarded with Green rep.

I've always found Rammstein and several other European metal bands to be the greatest way to pass the time, depending on the game. Turisas for Skyrim, Nightwish for FF... the list is almost endless.

If video games are boring, don't play them. As a non-gamer, this seems rather obvious. Go do something fun.

Depends what you're after.

Mad capsule markets are worth a listen. Japanese industrial

Polysics are J-pop but they're anarchic enough for them to keep their sheen

Anything by SOAD, QOTSA or things of that ilk usually help time fly

Let me know what bands you listen to and I'll see if I can come up with any you might not be familiar with

Anytime I have to grind in an RPG or MMO I listen to a lot of instrumental stuff like Pelican. I throw some Daft Punk and other similar tunes in to keep it fresh

I've always found Offspring, Everclear, Journey, Slipknot, Sublime, Blind Melon, Counting Crows and stuff like that to the trick. Anything that is up beat, but not so similar in sound that in blends into background noise, to do the trick.

......................................Second....play-through....of FFXIII....? I think I'd rather play X-2 again -- or commit suicide -- than attempt to wade through that game one more time. I can see drudging through the first 20 hours on your first play-through, but what the hell does that game have to bring you back a second time? You might as well just watch Avatar over and over again, since Square is obviously just making gorgeous movies with limited interaction at this point...

Anyways. I'm only going to help you because I love music so much. I'm also an eclectic listener, so you might not actually like anything I have to offer:

The above video is "God is an Astronaut", the song is "Snowfall" and it's off their self-titled album. It's purely instrumental post-rock, but it can get me through just about any level grind. This album actually fits FFXIII perfectly too, so you can blast it and watch the videos unfold and have an orgasm all at the same time.

It's probably not what you're used to, but give it a chance.

Nothing to do with music, but if you're only leveling your characters through one paradigm, you're playing the game wrong.

Country. Any Country is amazing. Brad Paisley. Blake Shelton. Jason Aldean.

Country is the absolute worst genre of music. It's even more of a joke to suggest listening to it while playing a game like FFXIII.

FFXIII and X-2, bad taste in my mouth. Use the good memory tunes to cancel it out:

Also, I remember that party formation, you must be quite far through.

Nyan Cat and Epic Sax Guy. Infinite loop. Simultaneous.

EDIT: I feel the need to explain I'm being entirely facetious and have no interest in your rep.

Two bands I find very easy to listen to and concentrate at the same time are My Morning Jacket and Between the Buried and Me.

While the game is disgustingly linear, I do end up playing most RPG's a second time through, and FF13 ended up joining the list of games I did a second run in. I find them to be more enjoyable since I have a better idea of what I'm doing and can attempt challenges (such as going the Super Specialist route rather than balancing out like my initial run).... and Avatar kicks ass, despite being a little over-rated. Saying you'd rather play X-2 again is a bit harsh although you're entitled to that opinion. ;) Neither game is anywhere near as bad as FF2, I will NEVER play that game again. Let's beat ourselves up to gain more stat upgrades! Horrible.

I was more balanced my first time through by levelling three different classes for everyone, the three everyone starts with. This time around I wanted to try the specialist route.... and I hate country too. Good call.

My mother-in-law's boyfriend loves Nyan Cat. He once had it looping for four hours straight. His then-roommate fought the urge to walk into his room, grab the computer, and throw it over the balcony. That would have been hilarious.

I haven't got my rep yet.

Done. I'll get to everyone I missed tomorrow once my rep reloads.
