Should Cherry be Popped?

Skullz Crack'Em

Lord of the Skulls
There are five types of divas in the WWE:

1) Good-looking, but crappy wrestling skills

2) Average looking, but has great wrestling skills

3) Good-looking AND good wrestling skills

4) Valets

5) Mae Young

In which of these categories is Cherry? She isn't really Eye Candy(IMO anyway), and so far I am not impressed with her in-ring ability. She is better than Maryse, Layla, and Kelly Kelly when it comes to wrestling skills, but compared to Mickie James, Melina, and Beth Phoenix, she does not seem up to par with them.

I thought she was fine as a Valet, but now she is on her own and seems so out of place. I understand that she left Deuce and Domino because she was too sweet, but why not put her with Jesse and Festus and give her a Hillbilly makeover? Maybe I should give her more time, but right now I think she is best suited as a Valet.

What do others think of Cherry? Should she keep wrestling, go back to being a Valet, or should she be released?

:lmao: The thread title is single handedly the greatest I've seen in a few monthes. Well done on that.

As far as getting down to business on whether or not Cherry should remain, my personal answer is NO. Not as a wrestling diva, anyways. She doesn't show a tremendous amount of talent, albeit on Smackdown shes in the upper class of wrestling divas, so I could be wrong in saying she should go due to lack of skills in that department.

Cherry's ass is clearly retaining water, there is no other reason for why its rapidly expanding at the rate it is. People complained about Molly Holly being big, and to be honest.. Molly was the size of Trish in today's world, compared to Cherry. When she used to come out in that pink 60's style skirt.. it covered her darkside. She should go back to that, it got her over in a good way. Now it'd take Triple A to get her over.

As far as managing goes, who is there that she could truly be paired with, in which she'd do a decent job? She was a heel manager for Deuce & Domino and she down right sucked at that. She hardly ever did anything for them, and I'm shocked they didn't drop her sooner. As a face manager, she'd end up like a version of Ms. Elizabeth during the Randy Savage era.. she'd get into constant trouble, require rescuing, and never do anything but cost her team match after match.

On that note, I feel she should pair up with Shannon Moore & Jimmy Yang. They lose constantly already, at least now they'd have a reason other than sucking.

Have to agree with Will she needs to go. WIth the new Diva's title coming in (dear lord save us all) she'd be little more than a jobber in that "division" anyway. The only eye candy she has is a decent chest, and that's a dime a dozen, so why bother keeping her on? Her managing career was a flop, although for the most part so was the team she managed. Use her in the occasional swimsuit contest, but other than that, save the money from flying her into tapings.

Over the past couple of months Cherry has got over. She's not super over, but she's got a solid fan base. Which is more than Beth Phoenix has achieved, and she couldn't have been given a better push. So there's no real reason to not push Cherry. If she's over, give her 10 minutes on Smackdown. It doesn't make any difference. The new Diva's title is pointless anyway, put it on her. It really doesn't make the slightest bit of difference. No she wouldn't be missed. But females in wrstling hardly ever are. Even if she's awful in the ring it doesn't matter. Because if she developes a personality they fans will talk about how great she is anyway. See Mickie & Melina for prime examples.

I'll go out on a limb and say that she should be kept around, and given more of a push. Have her replace michelle mccool. First, she is talented, she just hasn't had a chance to showcase it since most of her matches have been against the untalented "divas". Second, most of the female wrestlers are heels. Right now there is a shortage of talented female wrestlers who are also faces.

And as for the comment about her "retaining water"....that doesn't bother me. Beth phoenix is a little thick too, but that doesn't take away from their wrestling ability. It's nice to see a few female wrestlers out there that are more than just eye candy who were taught a couple of wrestling moves.

really let Cherry do her thing. the fans like her. and apparently so does the creative team on smackdown so let her wrestle. she does her best and it might not be all that great but its 10x better than most of the other SD/ECW divas. so let Cherry be the first Diva's Champion and let her build an even bigger fan base and i guarentee that everybody will love it

Without a drastic makeover, I can’t see Cherry managing/fitting anybody on Smackdown/ECW. Now that she's started wrestling, I don’t see them putting her back in the valet role. Besides the only memorable thing Cherry did in her role as Deuce & Domino’s valet was wear roller skates to the ring. Also she is moderately over and with the new Divas title on the horizon, Smackdown/ECW need divas, so there’s little to no chance she’ll be let go anytime soon.

Right now, I see Cherry as an average-looking diva with average skills (make that category 6). So Cherry’s not on the level of Phoenix, Natalya, or Victoria but very few are. She’s clearly leaps and bounds ahead of Maryse, Maria, Ashley, Kelly, and Layla. In her defense, I think Cherry has come a long way in a short time already. Since she made her ‘wrestling’ debut in late April, she has had a total eight matches. Of those, four were singles matches. I’ve noted improvement in each successive contest. At first, we witnessed Victoria and Natalya toying with her and Cherry coming up with a surprise forearm or kick and scoring the schoolgirl pin. She’s shown she can sell in her matches with Victoria, Natalya, and even Maryse. Only recently did we start to see what she can bring in the ring (monkey flip, bulldog, neck breaker, and just this past Friday night an impressive hammerlock DDT just to name a few).

I see potential in Cherry, but realistically how much can she improve wrestling the likes of Maryse week in and week out? She needs the right person to work with and learn from. (A change in wrestling attire and actual boots wouldn't hurt either for her to be taken more seriously). Others have started out with little talent and gone on to be highly regarded. I think she’ll only get better in time, so I say give Cherry a chance to prove herself in the ring.

The title of this thread alone is worthy of some rep.

I say, keep her. Why? Well, its not like she's the sole reason dragging down the women's division lol. As Chasingamy says above me, she's the category of average skills, average looks. Pretty face, kind of weird body. Better wrestler than Maryse, but then again, who isn't? She certainly isn't going to give credibility to this awful idea of a new championship, but we're not expecting much anyway.

Personally, I think the women's division as a whole should be limited until they could find a solid number of women that can put on matches of quality that warrant attention. We have a few girls that can, but not nearly enough as you can count them on one hand. If there was a standard that you had to be at least as good as Melina, Mickie, Beth, or Natalya, then sorry, Cherry's gone. But in the WWE, where you can get hired based on the simplest things (Carlito speaks Spanish is supposedly another one), Cherry's here to stay, and not as a totally mute and wandering around oblivious to the world manager of a tag team that has gone nowhere so fast you'd think they really did circle back in time to the 50s.

I watched all of the latest Smackdown edition, and the closest I came to turning off the TV was during the Cherry/Maryse match (second closest was during the intensely tedious Punk/MVP). Cherry isn't great eye candy, as she's seriously started to pile on the pounds recently (mind you, someone also needs to tell McCool that the anorexic look isn't an attractive one either). Nor can she really wrestle. Admittedly, she's better than Maryse, who is barely watchable, but she seems stiff and tentative, unwilling to commit herself. Granted, she can do some moves (wow!), but they don't have any logical flow from what happened previously. There's no fluidity to what she does. Sticking the Diva's belt on her would kill any chance of it being a credible championship, ever. Assuming they want it to be a credible championship. They may not. Either way, I can't see Cherry being particularly useful, ever.

Props for the great thread name Skullz!

As for Cherry being let go. I dont think she should be. She has a decent fanbase. She may not be the greatest on smackdown. But she is improving. She is pretty good looking. Her role as a wrestler should be avoided though. She will be best sefved as a valet. Maybe for Moore and Yang as Will suggested. She might even be better served on ECW. Where she could be the valet of Evan Bourne or someone else. She should stick around but only as a valet. If she continues to be a wrestler though I say why not stick down the Diva title on her. It only there for a prop anyways.

While Cherry isn't the greatest wrestler. WWE might as well keep her around for a few months to see if she improves. If she doesn't improve, then just get rid of her. I mean, she isn't eye candy and her body isn't the sexiest.

Comparing Cherry to divas like Maryse, Mickie James and Candice Michelle in terms of looks and physical appearance, is like comparing chocolate to vanilla. Vanilla is so bland and gets old really quickly, while chocolate is more popular and has the better flavor. I think by the end of year, either Cherry will have improved vastly in the ring(doubtful) or she will be released. If she does get released, why the hell would Tna want her?? Their womens division is great and adding Cherry to it would be an insult to all the other TNA knockouts in my opinion.

A few months ago I must admit, I was high on Cherry. I don't know why but I just was unfortunately. Also, she should get rid of those awful pants she wears. They make her ass look bigger than what it already is.

So I hope she stays for 6 more months, then the WWE should make a decision as to whether she is worth keeping around or not.

They should keep her. Actually, I like Cherry. Saw some videos of her wrestling in the indys, under the Kara Slice ring name, and while she’s not at Victoria or Beth Phoenix level, she’s definitivily way better than McCool for example. She can perform some decent wrestling moves, along with some appealing ones, like a Lita-style moonsault and the “stratusfaction”.

That being said, I see two factors limiting her:

1- She’s obviously a little out of shape. We can’t really deny it as she was kept away from the rings until two months ago.

2- Her gimmick. She’s suposed to be a shy girl, so she can’t just satart performing moves like a “flying kick of awesomeness” from nowhere.

Or maybe I’m just a perv whit a taste for sweet looking girls.

Cherry is a very solid worker. Problem is that her gimmick is holding her back. She's not bad at all. Def. not the best but up there when it comes to wrestling. I'm sure she's developed ring rust but I'm sure she's working it off.

I hope WWE turns her heel down the line (kinda like bad Sandy in Grease :P) and then maybe we'll see how she really is in the ring. She's better then about half of the divas roster so releasing her would be a bad idea IMO.

Have to agree with Rawfannation about the heel turn and the Sandy from Grease thing. They could have her manage a heel tag team who would turn on Deuce and Domino! maybe Ted jnr and partner?
I dunno, but still, I think she's hot. Sure she's not the skinniest diva on the roster, but she's easily the most natural, and she's not perma-tanned like Kelly Kelly (who has very white armpits!). I have had some very rude thoughts about Cherry wearing just her roler skates!
Oh dear, its all getting a bit 'boogie nights'.....

The thing I like about Cherry is that she's unique - not every diva on the roster can/should look like Kelly or Maryse. She's not great looking, but she's cute enough and her look and gimmick work well. Plus, she can wrestle well enough. She's worth keeping around for a while.

I agree with Comet Cloud on the two points. She is a little out of shape and her gimmick is just not working. A change of gimmick will benefit here and also new clothes (please). She is kind of a decent wrestler but everything about her is holding her back.
Maybe she needs an underdog win against Natalya or she could turn heel by betraying Michelle and having a feud with her. Some ideas.

With Deuce and Domino breaking up it would be perfect for Domino to go crawling back to "his sister" explaing it was Deuce's idea to ditch her. Have her be a strong contender in Smackdown's Diva division with Domino being there to support her. I see him becoming nothing but a jobber so this will give him something to do until he is released
