I have to agree with Josh on this one. Either you're watching a different Joe or you're smoking crack.
While I haven't watched TNA in awhile I've seen some of his work there+fair share of his work in ROH. He's no Flair on the mic but he's adequate enough to "go." For his size, he's quite amazing in the ring. Pretty easy to see why he's over, you don't have to like the guy (can't recall if you ever said if you did or not) but you can't deny his ability.
This. Especially the part about the original poster being on crack.
I also second the opinion that people like the way Joe carries himself, and that it is similar to the way that Taz used to carry himself. To me Joe is a believable badass. If a guy is going to walk around threatening to kill people, I need to believe he is willing and able to do it- and Joe pulls that off.
But i'd like to focus on his wrestling if we can...
I can't even begin to understand how someone can so easily discount Joe's ring skills.

He is on the very short list of best performers bell-to-bell in the whole industry. The guy can have a solid match angainst anyone. He can adapt to work against any style and any size opponent. If you put Joe in with another high level worker and give them time to work, its a potential classic everytime.
I will agree that all of the guys that Joe has had classics against are elite world-class wrestlers, but that doesn't mean that Joe's not in their class. The fact that he has had five star matches with so many different guys, and in different companies, is a credit to Joe.
And you really need to go back and watch Joe and Punk's second 60-minute draw. I agree that Punk carried the action in the first match, due to the fact that nearly the entire match was fucking headlocks by Punk. The second match was far less "headlock-heavy" and Joe kept up with Punk the whole time. And also Joe primarily drove the action(apart from more headlocks) in the rubber match to get the win.
In fact I don't believe I've ever witnessed a Samoa Joe match where he didn't deliver a lot of strong offense throughout the encounter, includuing sprinkling in all of his signature stuff and almost never missing a beat with it. He seems to always make good decisions on when in the match to interject specific signature spots. He also has a nice array of moves in his arsenal. He has lots of nice strikes and his basic striking is stiff and looks convincing. He also has alot of true submission knowledge that he carries into his ring style as well as lots of suplex variations and a few different slams that he employs.
I also don't get the questioning of Joe's selling.

I have never seen anyone knock the way that Joe sells. I would go as far as to say that he sells more realistically and convincingly than any other heavyweight on TNA's roster.
I think what ultimately draws people to Joe's ring style is the fact that all of his offense is aesthetically pleasing, even if Joe himself is not.
