Do I have everybody's attention now
After seeing that Promo, I'm convinced that Rock is probably the greatest entertainer WWE has ever had, and will ever have. But this also got me thinking...Rock or Flair?

Both of them are revered as the greatest talkers in the world but there can be only one..

Personally, it's the great one because honestly Flair never did it for me, his WOOO was well...alright, it was great at first when he did the chops but then it just got annoying. Rock makes people eat out of his hand. Heel or Face, he's the greatest main stream wrestler ever. WWE WISHES they had as much publicity as the Rock.

Hands down, The Rock. But, much respect to Ric Flair also. That man could insult anyone. I remember him single-handedly destroying Maven's image with one line: "I've had more championships than you've had women." (ROFL) I never took Maven seriously after that.

I gotta go with Flair. I may be wrong, but I believe that Flair came up with most if not all his material, while Rock was given the jist of what to say. That and the fact that Flair has done it for decades longer than the Rock...without becoming stale. the man STILL has it better than most guys on the WWE or TNA roster.

It's not fair to post this poll the very same night that the Rock returned and cut one of the best damn promos of all time. That said, I love Flair, but the Rock holds the crowd in the palm of his hands. Always has. I'm goin with Rocky. And for me to say that is pretty legit considering I'm one of the biggest Flair marks in the world.

Ric Flair is one of the best all-time overall wrestlers, but I HAVE to give it to The Rock. Quite simply, The Rock has been more successful than Ric Flair. Yes, Flair has the 16 World Titles, but in a "sport" where winning and losing Titles doesn't label one's success, The Rock has been more successful in terms of merchandising, headlining big events, branching away from wrestling, and making money. And that's a testament to his character. He's just a very entertaining guy. So is Flair, but especially after 7 years of not being The Rock and suddenly coming back, The Rock proved to me that he is, by far, the most electrifying man in sports entertainment.

We are talking about only promo work here right? Assuming so then Rock by a mile. Flair is good on the mic and all but he probably wouldn't even rank top five for me.

Rock on the other hand is debatably the best mic worker ever and definitely top three. He has more charisma in his one of his hands than 90% of todays superstars have in their entire body, he is funny, he is serious when needed, he gets the crowd involved in the promos, really he has every skill required to be great on the mic and he uses them exceptionally well.

Am i the only person that doesn't like The Rock? Same interview he's gave a million times and very predictable in my opinion. He had to develop this over time and alot of wwe wrestlers aren't getting the chance.

I'll take Flair all day

Im not even a big Dwayne"Rock" Johnson fan, always was more of a stone cold fan, but could always put on a hell of a match and is hands down THEE BEST TALKER/MIC SKILLS/PROMOS EVERRR!!!!!!! CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT HE HAS PLANNED FOR MANIA!!!!!!!!

I love Flair.... But he really phoned it in these past two decades. Flair's "abuse of power" promo on Nitro was phenomenal as was his "no heart/carlito" promo on raw. Everything else has been pretty dead to me on the mic. Granted he was great with the horsemen in the 80's and furthermore I believe Flair (along with Dusty Rhodes) invented promo hype.

The Rock however has seriously just blown the roof off the wrestling world after a 7 year hiatus. The Pop he got tonight was unreal, the only other time I've ever heard a crowd get remotely that loud was Jericho's 1999 WWE debut. Then the promo, I can't even begin to describe the level of ingenious this took. Rock has definitely staked his claim as the greatest promo man of all time.

5 best promo guys of all time
5. Chris Jericho
4. Michael P.S. Hayes
3. Stone Cold
2. TIE Dusty Rhodes/Ric Flair
1. The Rock

I've got to agree with the majority, The Rock is hands down better when it comes to mic skills and cutting promo's the man can make anything funny and is the most entertaining man the buisness has ever seen.
However if we were talking about in ring talent I've got give the edge to Rick Flair, Rick can make anyone look good and can still go at the age of 61 almost 62 {his birthday is feb.25} where as the Rock who is decent in the ring has never been considered one of the all-time greats in the ring like Rick Flair has.

U know I think BOTH are AMAZING..... Most of U guys are too young to remember FLAIR at his best back in the 80's cutting promos... LOOKING ONLY AS HE COULD LOOK....

THAT WAS RIC @ HIS BEST..... STYLIN AND PROFILIN.... I still tell ppl WHETHER U LIKE US OR DON'T LIKE US... LEARN 2 LOVE US... CAUSE WE ARE THE BEST GOING TODAY....

WHOOOOOOOO...

But then there is the ROCK!!!!

HE IS THE GREATEST TALKIER EVER!!!

BAR NONE!

Be4 U guys start jumping down my throat all I have 2 say is the "ROCK" had ppl who weren't even BIG WRESTLING FANS sayin his catch phrases... Back when the NWA and WWF didnt mention each other NO WWF fans were chanting HORSEMEN phrases but I am talking even casual FANS were using THE ROCK'S in everyday life. HE EVEN NAME THE WWE'S SECONDARY SHOW UNINTENTIONALLY!

The ROCK exudes confidence, charisma and star quality and that is what him the BEST PROMO guy EVER!!!

Rock is the best talker in WWE history IMO. He can grasp the crowd in the palm of his hand and control it like no one else can. He can do it as a heel and he can do it as a face. He is one of a kind and there is only 1 and there can only be 1 'Great One'.

With that being said, Flair oozes Flair. He is damm bloody entertaining on the mic too. With one of the most popoular catch-phrase of all time.(Not too sure its a 'PHRASE' though), Flair is no doubt one of the greatest on the mic. When fans used to chant WOOOOOOO when ever any form of Chops is applied, that speaks volume about how Flair owns on the mic.

However, I think that The Rock nicks it for me. Is their mic skills comparable? Hell Yes! But there is nothing quite like the Great One, Rock is in his own league when on the mic and tonight's promo proved it.

I don't remember a crowd ever chanting Die Flair Die...The Rock was/is great coz he mocks other wrestlers so well, but Flair always told a story with his promos - it wasn't just comedy value. I'll vote for Flair.

Its has to be The Rock.

I will never understand why people rate Ric Flair as one of the greatest promos guys of all time. He rambles on incoherently for ages adding in as many WOOOO's as he can while his head looks like its mere seconds away from spontaneously combusting.

The Rock came out last night and delivered one of the best promos of his career, and the reason I say that is because all he had to talk about was hosting Wrestlemania. A potential 10 minute promo that the Rock turned into 20 minutes of utter brillance.

For the first time in a long time while watching wrestling in general I got a rush of adenaline and awoke from the bore fest we had just been subjected to.

The Rock hands down in my opinion

I gotta agree with you on that. I seriously believe Flair was overrated, he wasn't a great wrestler, he was just able to sell himself better than those he was surrounded by. He was also part of the first major stable, that started it all. He was the second Nature Boy not the first, but he is the most recognized. He politicked, he suppressed talent, he and Hogan left a legacy of backstage politicking that cripples the creativity of the wrestling business that harms the business to this day. Hogan, Flair, like HBK and Triple H after them are threatened by those who could take the spotlight off them and do everything to ensure that doesn't happen.

The Rock is a better performer than most give him credit for but not as good as Flair. He can sell himself just as well and unlike Flair, didn't need 20 title reigns to make him relevant. I never heard anything about his politicking to get to the top, he made every performer he worked with look good, whether it was a main eventer or a lower card performer. And unlike Flair, he made money. He sold out arenas, he made wrestling tv program ratings history, and sold merchandise like very few performers could. Flair can't touch the Rock on his best day.

Honestly, I'm torn. However, I'll go with Ric Flair for the fact that he relied less on catchphrases.

You could recite The Rock's promos yourself, for the most part. Not so much with Ric Flair. True, you couldn't perform them like either, but you never new where Ric Flair was going. Good or bad, always entertaining.

I don't think in the history of wrestling, either man has received a "BORING" chant, so I don't think you can go wrong, really.

I'll go with Flair as The Rock isn't even in my top five in terms of promo and mic skills. Flair and Rock are great at being funny but The Rock could never draw me in when it came to serious promos like Flair did.

You can just see the passion in Flair's promos and it's what drew me in and bought into the man every time he wrestled. The Rock is good but I just prefer Flair better.

The Rock. While Flair was great and all, he was never able to capture the crowd quite like The Rock could. With Flair, his mic work would get boring after a while with him pretty much saying the same things over and over again. However The Rock was able to entertain the audience, and mix up his promos and promo delivery to the point that no matter what he said, the crowd would be interested. But this isn't just about promo-work, I feel that The Rock was a bigger draw when it counted most -- that just about proves that he was a better entertainer. I don't want to sound like I'm bashing Ric Flair, because I'm not. Flair was a very good entertainer in his own right, and his own ways. Now if we were talking about actual wrestling ability, it would be a toss-up for me. Since we're not though, I think it's pretty easy to say that The Rock was a better entertainer than Flair was.

Hold on a minute now. I remember about 90% of the Rock's promos consisting of shining various things, turning them sideways, and sticking them up someone's candy ass. To me, Flair had more variation in his promos than the Rock did. As I said before, The Rock never drew me in with the majority of his promos. They were good for a laugh and every now and then but I've been interested with promos from better talkers. The Rock relied on catchphrases too much for my liking and got repetitive fast.

That's true, and you're correct. However, you have to remember that the fans would pop pretty hard for Rock whenever he would use his catchphrases. Was Flair a better serious talker? No doubt. But in terms of just keeping people entertained and interested in what was going on, The Rock has the upper hand. Although, this could all just be personal preference.
