Religious Wrestlers

It's more of a question, but It's something that could expand in discussion. The majority of wrestlers appear to be deeply religious. Is it an American thing? I can honestly say that I've never associated with anybody who really believes in that stuff.

I definately aren't a religious person. But it does seem more and more wrestlers are. The one that comes to mind being HBK. It's changed how he will act with DX, and stops him doing certain things, but I think it's also due to him not wanting his kids to see him like that.
In England, or where I live anyway, religion definately isn't a big part of society, but I've heard in America it is.

Yup, in America its the great debate. I am a person who is spritual but not really religious anymore. I belive that the orginzations that run the churches are corupt and feed into our fears, but thats what America is all about these days. The wrestlers that are deeply religous all seem to be "Born Agian" christians. They went to very dark places in their lives and thats what got them out of it. My personal belife is "whatever helps you sleep at night". I wish that there wasn't such an emphasis on Religon in this country, but i also wish that we weren't occuping foriegn territories and imposing our will on people. America is a pretty crazy place. But as for guys like Shawn Michales and the late Eddie Gurrero, they "found God" at a time in their lives when they needed something to help them change it for the better. If thats what they needed, so be it, as long as your not preachy or judgemental i'm cool with it.

well, this country was founded on religion, and religous freedom. I would definately agree its an american thing becuase of our tendency to clutch to tradition, and romanticism. we were started "one nation, under god" so its much more popular in american culture and tradition.
