Regular moves that could be used as finishers

Hulk Hogan's Brother

Stop asking me what I'm gonna do!!!
It goes without saying that a finisher is a very integral part of a wrestler's makeup. However unlike the the attitude era there are very few finishers that people use these days that excite me much. The best finishers in wrestling today are probably the Undertaker's tombstone, Orton's RKO and CM Punk's Go to Sleep. The rest just range from mediocre to bad. There isn't a finisher these days that gets the crowd excited like say the Stunner used to back in the Attitude Era. The RKO might just be the only exception.

However, I think there are plenty of moves that could be used as finishers but are instead used as regular moves. Here are a few examples.

1. The Edge-O-Matic

I would also like to mention the sleeper drop in this context but the way Edge performs this move looks way more cooler than a regular sleeper drop. Now before people say that Ziggler and Slater use the same finisher all I want to say is that when they are executing their finishers they take more of a bump than their opponent and that is the reason why I do not buy into their finishers.

However when Edge does it does not look that way at all. He merely sits down after grabbing the head of his opponent. It looks like a reverse X-Factor in some ways. It is a simple move that can be performed in an instant and to opponents of all weight classes. It looks pretty devastating too if sold well.

2. Flapjack

For some reason I have always liked this move a lot. This looks like a high impact move that can hurt you quite a lot. Also it targets the face area and most finishers that target the face area get popular pretty quickly. I feel that some changes could be made to the move in the sense that you eliminate irish whipping your opponent. Maybe a wrestler could grab the other like he would do when performing a spinebuster but instead he would just slam his face onto the mat backwards just as he would have done had he performed a flapjack.

3. Electric Chair Drop

Another one of Edge's old moves. I have no problem whatsoever in believing that this move would result in a three count. It could also draw a pop from the crowd when the wrestler who is about to perform this move is looking to sneak up on his opponent.

Those are the three I could think of for the moment. I would love to learn your views on this.

Which regular moves of wrestling would you like to see being used as finishers?

I have a thing for knees and kicks. Lulz

John Morrison's Knee
I know John has been using this move as of late, and there is no reason he shouldn't be. I think I've seen him put away both Cody Rhodes and Sheamus with a running knee to the face. He hits it so well and whoever takes the knee, sells it so well. Hopefully we'll see this knee as a finisher instead of a set up move. The Starship pain has run its course. And a knee fits Morrison so well.

AJ Styles' Pele Kick
This move may be my favorite kick in all of wrestling. I never saw this move until AJ Styles did it a few years back. It even made its way on Smackdown vs. RAW 2011 this year as a regular strong strike. I know AJ has put a couple guys away with this move but I love it. I would love to see some guys like Evan Bourne, John Morrison, or even Chris Jericho start using this move if they can. The Pele Kick is fucking awesome.

Evan Bourne's Diving Double Knee
You know where he jumps off the rope with both knees into his opponents face--another great move. Its like a reversed Pedigree. I'd like to see Evan take this move more seriously and maybe use it as a finisher as an alternative to the Air Bourne. Its a smart move to execute on anyone.

Cody Rhodes' Spring Board Kick
Its a bit different than John Morrison's spring board kick. It'll give Cody a high flying style and keep people interested in his gimmick. The move is something you wouldn't expect out of a ground based wrestler, Cody Rhodes. A very great alternative to whenever Cody Rhodes can't hit the Cross Rhodes.

IMO, any suplex variation can be a legit finisher, the way your opponent lands on his/her back/neck/head looks really painful. And the Enziguiri looks damn painful if it is taken properly.

The DDT. It was used as a finisher for years up until the 90s. I mean, sure, a few guys still use it, but it could be a lot more common. Think about it, you're dropping your opponent on his head, that's bound to be able to finish a guy off.

Another one would be the Backbreaker Orton uses. That legitimately looks like it could hurt a ton, and if done right it could be a quick-strike finisher. You're actually bending the guys back and slamming it down pretty much, that would be an excellent finisher.

I would love to see the DDT become a finisher again.

Although we do still have Raven's evenflow DDT and Drew McIntyres double arm version, I still think a regular DDT should end a match. When executed and sold properly it is a fantastic looking move, and should result in a 3-count much more than it does. It surprises me if I ever see someone get a pinfall after a DDT these days.

Also, the moonsault needs to be brought back as a match-ending move. It is still one of the most spectacular moves in the business and I used to love when Lita or Essa Rios would nail the moonsault to get the victory. Definitely needs to come back as a legitimate finishing move

i really like the fame-asser as a finisher. since billy gunn hasnt been on Tv in awhile, other people has just been using this as a regular move. dolph zigg and cena has been using it. i dont really count kelly kelly's modified version.

Orton's IEDDT- The inverted, elevated DDT with his opponent draped from the ropes is pretty sick looking to me. The impact and force with which they hit the ground following it is sick, but its always used as set-up move.

Chris Master's sit out Spinebuster- When someone that strong gets that much elevation under a move, you shouldn't be getting up before 3 seconds. Not only that, but he needs something other then the Masterlock.

Kofi Kingston's SOS- Drew McIntyre is probably the only person Ive seen actually be pinned by this manuever. This one armed gutwrench that sweeps the opponents leg while peforming a forward flip looks absolutely sick, especially the landing for the opponent. I prefer it to TIP.

Shining Wizard- Christopher Daniels, John Morrison, and Gregory Helms have all used this as a set-up move for years, but the knees to the face of the downed opponent looks devastating. I was happy to see Morrison use an inverted form of this to defeat Sheamus at Survivor Series. With the right force, its a great finisher.

The finishers that I would like to see again are

The Shining wizard = Quite alot of lightweights have used this move as a set up move and I think this move could become a crowd favourite in it's own right because a kick to the head in any move is good looking but this move with the right force could become great.

DDT = Whilst DDT are usually used as set ups for wrestler in their move set I would like the DDT to be used as a finisher. Their are some variations off this move like Drew's double under hook move that should lead into move wins than it already does.
