Raw LD

.....WHAT HISTORY? Stephanie has been beaten up before, but losing to BRIE BELLA would be historic?

This whole thing is such a waste.

I know this is leading to Bryan being in Brie's corner at Summerslam, but my goodness this is ridiculous to sit through.

I think they really believe we care. I get what they're going for, but they're missing a major point: it's THE BELLA TWINS. Their significant others are stars, not them.

I'll open myself up to the criticism. The Brie/Stephanie angle is not bad. I know they have three strikes against them with a lot of internet fans before they even get in the box. It involves women. It involves a McMahon. It involves a non wrestler. That looks like a recipe for a crappy match. I think this is working. Sure Brie is a little rough on the mic. "Have you still recovered from this?" "Karma has a way of coming back to get you." Uh yeah, that's what karma is Brie. So yeah, she's rough on the mic but Steph is great and makes up for that. I'm not going to try to convince you to like something you don't but I think if you can look past the fact that the women are the ones closing the show (is it really that big of a deal?) you'll see the story is not bad.

For me its not because women are closing the show but I don't think its good enough to close the show, especially twice in a row for their 2nd biggest PPV of the year. Also (and i said this earlier) I don't get giving Steph/Brie all this build yet they can't build a Last Man Standing match featuring the guy they want at the top of the company, a guy who is facing someone who has been a perennial main eventer for 10 years.

I don't hate Steph, I don't hate Brie but I don't think they are strong enough together to justify getting the big match build for Summerslam. Its not the fact they are women, its the fact that Brie just isn't that good, neither is Steph but I can forgive that since she's a heat magnet.

I'm fine with all that. You're right that it really isn't bad.

The problem I have with this is how low the stakes are. What happens if Stephanie wins? We laugh, wait a week, and then she's right back where we were before? Brie Bella just isn't the kind of person to be in this spot and the lack of interest it crippling it.

Yeah, it does feel like something should be on the line. Maybe Brie shouldn't have gotten her job back unless she beats Stephanie and if Steph wins Nikki is fired too. I think I might have suggested that in one of the LDs before this match became official.

It would help but it's the same underlying issue: why am I supposed to care if Brie gets her job back or not, especially when she quit in the first place? I hvae no connection to the Bellas other than who they're sleeping with, so why should I care if they succeed or not?

I guess either WWE is overestimating the Bellas popularity or you're underestimating it. Honestly I have no idea which is closer to being true.

They're Divas not named Trish and Lita. I have no idea what popularity they would have unless there's a BIG crossover audience from Total Divas.

Everything you need to know about the current product can be summed up with Brie and Stephanie closing the show two weeks in a row.

I suspect that this whole angle is leading up to a Nikki Bella heel turn on her sister at Summerslam, costing her the match, and therefore her job. Which is unfortunate because I think most fans will be just as apathetic to this turn of events as they have been to this whole angle and the fact that they closed two consecutive RAWS leading up to their big PPV.

Haven't watched it, but RAW sounded abysmal.

I find it hilarious that they're still promoting the WWE App despite the Network all but making it irrelevant. Not that anyone is going to be craving Rusev vs Sin Cara anyway.
