Random Ponderings

One to Remember

Championship Contender
This is the first thread in a series of random wrestling related things that happen to be on my mind. Topics range from major logical fallacies to the minute and trivial..

#1. I love the maroon color featured on the WHC belt strap but why is it onthe back part where its not tobe seen?

#2. Why has Mark Henry not yet been seen with the strap around his waist?

#3. If Triple H was made the COO of WWE why did that by default onlg make him the Raw GM? Why has his presence not been felt at all on Smackdown if there was a supposed COMPANY-wide shift? Its as if SD! Is a subsidiary of WWE and thats negatively effecting public perception.

#4. Why can't WWE seem to make a clear division between Diesel and Kevin Nash? I believe he entered the Rumble as Nash, came out to the big rig truck theme. Then hes on Raw arguin over a text msg and comes out to the NWO theme for no clear reason. If hes kevin nash why is his hair black and not blonde..? Why didnt he just come out to his wolfpac theme?

#5. Has anyone else noticed anything funny about the top of Nash's mustasche?

#6. How is Hogan able to use the NWO b team music legally in tna and why even at all?

1. I think it's just a newer belt that was given to henry, the leather looks a lot bigger than the front plate, it has a lot of black leather room between the plate and the end of the belt.

2. He's too fat, sorry, but his waist is probably too big for any belt except the Andre the Giant special belt

3. He was on SD! but Theodore Long is still the GM, so he's got someone in charge, he doesn't have to worry

4. Idk, and honestly Idc, Kevin Nash is only good as a tweening interviewer nowadays.

5. No, but you have to remember that he is incredibly old (for wrestling) nowadays

6. I'm not sure, but I think since Hogan owns the Hulk Hogan name and likenesses and whatnot, that he can use whatever music he's already used or something like that, unless Bischoff owns rights to it.

1) Because it wasn't meant to be seen.
2) He's too big.
3) Because the days of the WWE pretending that SmackDown and RAW are equal brands are dead and gone. RAW is the tentpole show for the WWE. The Pope ruled the Holy Roman Empire; there was a King of Spain too, but everyone knew who the real boss was. I have no idea how you arrive at the conclusion that what most of the world understood en passant two years ago means that public perception of Smackdown is being damaged now. Demonstrate to me that favoring RAW over Smackdown is costing the WWE money that they'd otherwise have, and that's a conversation worth having.
4) Because he was famous under both names, so they are having their cake and eating it too. The Royal Rumble was a case of nostalgia. You bring back Diesel, a long retired character, so that people don't demand Kevin Nash, the guy who just left TNA/IW, on a weekly basis. His hair is dyed black because it is now mostly gray, which happens to most people as they age, and Vince is not too fond of any of his wrestlers having grey hair. He's not "Diesel" OR "Kevin Nash", he is a character that has built from the evolution of his career in the business.
5) If it was unusual, surely SOMEONE else would have mentioned it by now.
6) This is the only one I'm curious about. The only answer that makes sense is that WCW never held the copyright on it and instead purchased rights to use it, although in an era where "wrestling theme" albums were being produced every year, I wonder why WCW wouldn't commission a piece that they could then copyright. As far as why? You've already answered this yourself by recognizing what they were playing. You're thinking of the nWo, one of the bigger successes of Hogan's career; you're not thinking about how Dale Oliver is a hack whose only talent is creating lo-fi versions of contemporary hits.

Mark Henry is not too big for that belt strap. I'd like evidence if so..

Smackdown is dying of neglect. There have already in depth discussions about how the arena is so empty it cant be shown on camera. Everytime Raw comes to knoxville it occupies the Thompson-Boling Arena. When SmackDown! rolls to town it occupies the Knoxville Civic Colisium. They are less then a mile apart but the latter is four times smaller. Same town, same fans, different venues? Thats A sign of death..

How was DIesel nostalga if nash had been active if tna? His presence in the wrestling world has been prominent for the last five or so years.. its no more rediculous then kane becoming a denntist or Triple H proclaiming himself an equestian.. personas in wrestling arent meant to run togethor.

And think of the NWO and Hogan in his prime? No thats not what comes to mind when i hear that music , Horace Hogan, Scott Norton, and Vincent walking to the ring on a saturday afternoon showing of WCW Worldwide comes to mind..

On Nash, he came out as Diesel in the Rumble for nostalgia purposes, before they knew they were going to do anything with him. He'd only had a Legends contract at the time. When they brought him back to the actual product and the storyline, they knew it didn't make much sense to have him go as Diesel, especially when he's interacting with his friend Triple H. Having Hunter call him "Diesel" in promos just wouldn't work as well as calling him by his name these days.

And yes, his mustache is weird and other people HAVE noticed it. He shaves the top part of it off now, so his mustache is thinner. Personally I think it throws off his goatee, but it's his facial hair, he can do whatever he wants.

#1. I love the maroon color featured on the WHC belt strap but why is it onthe back part where its not tobe seen?

Because that is where they decided to put the maroon part. I think it's dumb too and the whole strap should be maroon, like the red part of TNA's Television Championship.

#2. Why has Mark Henry not yet been seen with the strap around his waist?

Champions having the belt over their shoulder is the norm now. They look weird nowadays to see someone with the belt around their waist. Over the shoulder is a lot cooler.

#3. If Triple H was made the COO of WWE why did that by default onlg make him the Raw GM? Why has his presence not been felt at all on Smackdown if there was a supposed COMPANY-wide shift? Its as if SD! Is a subsidiary of WWE and thats negatively effecting public perception.

No.... He was running both shows but Smackdown has a GM in Long so that is the kayfabe'd reason for why he was focusing more on running Raw instead of Smackdown or both.

Like others said.... He came back as Diesel in the Rumble for nostalgic reasons. They did not know how they were going to use him yet. Obviously they never figured it out if they had him text message himself to get rid of CM Punk.

#5. Has anyone else noticed anything funny about the top of Nash's mustasche?

It is very weird looking.

#6. How is Hogan able to use the NWO b team music legally in tna and why even at all?

It is a knockoff rather than the actual song. That is the same reason why Booker T used a similar song to his WWE theme in TNA and got away with it, it is due to the fact that they only run into legal issues when the same exact song is used without permission.

Does anyone know if the old strap was damaged or something? And several times mark has had issue getting the belt over his shoulder.

Hogan's TNA theme is the same one NWO guys on WCW Worldwide and Saturday Night came out too. Would he have to pay to come out to voodoo child?
