Not sure if this has been done as a thread, but has anyone noticed the recent push for Zach Ryder on FCW... err ECW lately? Hes now had to my knowledge 2 ECW Title Matches so far, hes in the whole ECW Title Angle, and is being made to look pretty darn good if you ask me by Christian.

So I ask you, do you think that this will turn out good for Zach or will it all go to waste once he leaves ECW?

i LOVE Zack Ryder and think he has a lot of potential. I actually think they are making a joke out of Ryder in the Christian matches. Christian just comes off as a monster, doing everything he wants, countering practically everything Ryder does. Yet it's still a close match... I don't know how. He has the strongest gimmick on the show, lots of people like me and my friends love him and his catch phrases, he has the best music in WWE, he has the best pants (lol), cuts the best promos, and has some pretty good moves PLUS a variety. He's better than 90% of the WWE talent, easily.
I know Cena gets a lot of hassle for being viewed as some kind of unstoppable force... I agree to an extent. But no where near how Christian is being treated. I like Christian and I'm glad he beat Regal... but in 5 seconds? That's just one of the examples outside of Ryder...

WOO WOO WOO

Honestly i dont like his current character so i would like him to be repackaged again but thats just my opinion again.

I think he has the talent to be a main event player on ECW for a long time but I think that is where he should stay for a long long time.

I don't know what it is but i cannot see this guy getting anywhere on RAW or even smackdown. I see him as a midcarder who has the potential to main event the C show. Nothing wrong with that. I just don't see him moving any further.

Just My Opinion

i think things will turn out for ryder i like his wrestling skills and there still improving with every moving day. but as for when he leaves ecw if he does leave ecw i think he'll do just fine just as long as he gets a couple ecw title reigns before he leaves so he looks like a legit contender when he moves to either raw or smackdown i hope things work for him.

I believe that Christian "looks like a monster" because he's phenomenal at what he does. If you notice after every draft they come out with a main heel and a main face to push ratings. Christian is doing his thing to keep the show afloat, similar to Matt Hardy and CM Punk before him.
As far as Ryder goes, I love the guy. His character is by the probably the funniest gimmick I've seen on WWE. Every time I see him I always crack up
and think of the My New Haircut Guy. He's also really good at promos and having watched him back when he tagged with Curt, he's got potential. Unfortunately I think he'll be burried once he's off ECW.

Ryder v Christian is a lot of fun to watch. I think these two guys work great together and ryder is really underrated. Ryder deserves a PPV match for sure.

He seems alright in the ring with a vet like Christian, but once he gets out in the big, bad world of Raw or Smackdown I just don't think his current gimmick will be able to cut it. I'd imagine he'll end up on Raw battling Hornswoggle for a few weeks and getting some cheap kiddy laughs before WWE wishes him well on future endovours.

I think Ryder is the future of ECW if they keep him on the show. The thought of pushing him as a future ECW champ would be good for his career later when he can play against the big time players like Orton and Cena in the future. I see Ryder being passed the ECW torch in the near future, because I believe when Edge comes back, they'll promote E&C vs. JeriShow, which would move Christian to Smackdown

If Ryder stays on ECW, he'll be ok. His gimmick works on ECW and he should be on the brand for a long time. Don't rush this guy. Let him build up and have a couple ECW Championship reigns before even thinking about sending him to Raw or SmackDown. He's been having great matches with Christian so far and he just needs time to develop. He just needs to keep doing what he's doing. He's being managed well on ECW.

I think after seeing Regal, Kozlov, and Jackson interfere in their match, we can expect Christian and Ryder being forced to team up next week against some combination of Regal and his men. i don't know if this is leading to a face turn for Ryder, but I'd be for it.

I think their needs to be a second strong face behind Christian on ECW and Ryder could be it. Sorry, but Dreamer, Goldust, Hurricane, or Yoshi don't seem credible enough for various reasons. Ryder's offense seems more suited for a face. I think a feud between him and Regal could provide some entertaining promos.

So does anyone else think Ryder could be turning face?

I didn't want to say it, but yeah, i think he'll be a face, as long as he gets rid of those damn tights. LOL...but if not i see some good matches between him and the new blood of ECW, as well as seasoned vets like shelton benjamin and tommy dreamer. i guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Hey his tights are awesome! Yeah I think that you might see Ryder face turn, but I hope he still says bro during his matches, that's just awesome.

I think ECW should get Finlay back, it would be good to see him back on ECW where he could get more air time.

Zach Ryder has the talent to become an IC or US champion, Woo Woo Woo YOU KNOW IT!! Seriously though, he gimmick is just stupid enough to be catchy and he plays that "Long Island Kid" to perfection. Everybody over there talks like that, Bro! His in ring talent and aggression is undeniable. Ryder vs Christian was a showstopper on ECW, those two are great together. I am all for pushing Ryder, but what the fuck are they doing to Shelton Benjamin!? He shouldnt even be on ECW if he's not gonna be part of the main event. Benjamin is a multi time IC Champ, former US champ and 7 or 8time tag champ, has Vince forgotten how credible he is? He stole the show at WrestleMania in Money in the Bank! How about Ryder vs Shelton for the number one contendership or a triple threat at a PPV.

i think zach ryder has a cool gimmick... whats going of with curt hawkins not heard much of him since draft

First to your question, curt is in fcw. And next when is BIll going toget out of the Ecw title scene, he is too boring, he cant cut a promo, and he cant really wrestle. Now onto Zack, why is he not ecw champ, this guy is (not to quote tna) simply phenomanal.

Zack Ryder is a perfect example of what happens when a guy takes a ball and runs with it, blowing up into something that nobody thought would ever even sniff superstardom.

Last year around this time, Hawkins and Ryder were nothing more than jobbers. Their tag team title reign was long over, and their reign was nothing to write home about to begin with. They were collateral damage in the slow breakup of La Familia. They didn't sniff television, and every now and then, they'd go ahead and make guest appearances on The Dirt Sheet and the god-awful Scotty Goldman show. Around this time, Ryder started "Woo woo woo" and he kept on getting on the webshows saying that line. Soon enough he was drafted to ECW and was slowly starting to get built up. He had the awesome music (it goes to show that a wrestler's entrance music really does go a long way), and the unique tights. He would also "douche up" his look, with the spiked hair, the headband, the ridiculous tights, the sunglasses, and soon enough wearing what is basically a negligee to the ring.

But also, he became a hell of a wrestler. The jumping leg lariat is one of the coolest moves in the WWE today. He's put on a bunch of great matches with the likes of Shelton, Goldust, and most importantly, three PPV quality matches with the ECW Champion, Christian. Also, he's really improved in backstage segments and on the mic.

I do think he needs time on ECW to continue to improve. Hopefully he won't get drafted in a few months when the WWE reshuffles after Wrestlemania, because he definitely isn't ready for Raw (look at Swagger and Bourne as small fish in the big pond), and he's not quite ready for Smackdown yet. He can still do a lot on ECW though, and I hope he keeps improving. I think he's going to be a major player years from now, which is a huge improvement from a year ago at this time when he was a strong candidate for future endeavors.

I've watched bits and pieces of his matches since his singles run began, but finally got a chance to sit down and watch a full ECW episode this past Tuesday. Being booked from Long Island is perfect for the look, because he really does look like a majority of guys out there, trying to be cool, and generally being pricks.

His moves set works well for him, as it doesn't do too much, and isn't complicated. His look reminds me of a douchebag more than Tyson Kidd's, but I guess it works for a heel getting pushed on the "C" show. I think he'll end up with the title, just not yet, and certainly not on a big PPV. Christian made a good point. Yoshi Tatsu has beaten him, so he should be next in line for a shot.

I doubt it would happen, but the ideal order for the champs should be Christian-Yoshi-Ryder, and then Ryder feuds with whoever they get in the draft, or maybe someone else like Dreamer.

Ryder's not ready for a huge push yet. He's still a little green, a few more programs with some of the big dogs and he'll be ready. I think he does deserve a push, but mid-card at the most. I don't see where everyone gets that he's a world champion in the making, I don't see it. That's just me though.

I agree with some of the posts above that Ryder needs another year plus on ECW and a 3-4 month reign as champion to be credible threat before a move to Raw or Smackdown.

I think that they need to hone the Long Island "Bro" character just a little bit. In my opinion, the character seems too over the top to be considered a legitimate contender for a US/IC title reign.

I have been really impressed with Ryder on the mic. Whenever I see a guy repackaged into a new gimmick and given the mic solo for the first time, I just expect absolute nonsense and garbage. Don't know why. I just do. I love when he's yelling at his oppenents, "C'mon Bro!" like one poster said before. It just cracks me up.

Anyways, I think Ryder plays perfectly into the landscape of ECW right now. If given proper time to smooth out his skills, he could be a quality upper mid carder to challenge for US/IC gold.

Is ryder in the doghouse? he went from being in the ecw main event scene as well as fued and possible face turn against william regal to dropping down to superstars. seems like a sudden fall from grace. did he call taker bro?

Who knows what he did. Hopefully he's just taking a week or so off to recharge and then rise up again. The guy has been great in this new gimmick. I'd like to see him face Christian again. Hell, have him put Regal in his place or make him somewhat of a tweener and team him up with Christian and Shelton to face Regal, Kozlov and Jackson or something.

I think he might do ok on ECW, but after that he will be completely wasted on the other brands, and will probably end up wasting away in the mid-card on raw or smackdown. He's pretty good in the ring, and he has an interesting character, but he isn't really great on the mic, and he just doesn't look like he will ever be sized up against big names like Cena or HHH. He might have some decent matches and fueds, but he will end up probably like shelton benjamen, getting pushes here and there, but never quite holding on to a good position.

Tuned in to ECW for the first time in a while tonight, gotta admit, I liked Ryder but, the tights man, I dunno can't see the WWE putting a title on those tights lol, I almost flipped the channel hehe.

ever since the edgeheads, I knew Ryder had something. In the words of Kurt Angle, I thought,"Damn! Does that kid have talent!" Ryder had the extra attitude compared to Hawkins. Ryder has impressed the hell out of me. Quite frankly, i would rather watch Ryder vs. Christian rather than anyone on the roster!

give Ryder or Yoshitatsu the belt, they have proved themselves worthy of carrying the belt. Christian should instead go to Smackdown, and wait until Edge comes back
Edge & Christain II
