Well I was on FB and saw a post about the new WWE title design and well I stumbled upon the APPARENT new title.

What are your thoughts on this new title.

Mine is that its BAD and I mean BAD its actually worse that the spinner and thats saying something it looks like a child made it.

So apparently, this is a picture of the new WWE Championship Belt. Now, keep in mind, this is just a rumor. If this truly is the new belt design, im not too big of a fan of it. It looks like the outside design was modeled after the US belt, and the details look way to bland. What are your opinions on the new belt?

My initial reaction is that it is very bland and generic. Obviously that's not the finished product, so with some color and rubies and diamonds to spruce it up it may stick out - may.

Every belt prior to this has had it's own originality. They've had traits that seperate them from the other belts and this one is simple and just does not pop out to me.

WWE is missing out on a huge oppurtunity to develop an iconic belt as they move on to a new generation; a belt that would represent the new generation.

Something tells me this isn't the belt. CM Punk said the new belt looks much better than the current Spinner Belt, and this one just doesn't do anything to be stylish or creative. It doesn't have the grandiose feel of past belts, like the Winged Eagle or Undisputed Titles did. I have a feeling that this is either a fake, or it's a prototype. Either way, I hope it isn't the final product.

It looks horrible, IMHO. Looks way too gaudy. I'm a fan of the classically styled belts, and was hoping for a return to the Eagle belt or something in that vein. I'm sure they're still working to add more to it... hopefully. Either way, if this is truly the new belt, I'm not liking it either.

It looks crap at the moment, but with a bit of work it could be massively improved.

I'm wondering where the current champion's name would go on it though. Doesn't seem to be any obvious space for someone's name.

Man I hope it's not true, we ALL, like in EVERYONE, want the eagle eye belt or the undisputed belt, it'S not that hard to give a belt that doesn't look like a child toy. Or maybe is it what they want, so their fans with belt replica don't feel like they have a cheap knockoff since the real one is just as bad and ugly.

It's basically a square spinning belt that doesn't spin...

It looks horrible to me, but www.wrestlezone.com said there will be some changes to the belt, before it is finished.
So i am curious what the final result is going to be.

They said it will have a couple of tweaks to it. Honestly, I like the current design better. I was hoping the new title would have retro old school look.

I wonder how they would debut this? It wouldn't make sense for Punk to debut the new title because he has been holding the current title for a while. Whoever is the next champ should debut the new title imo.

I remember Punk saying he wished he wore the "Bret Hart" era belt. I would love to see something retro. I think its better then the "spinner" belt.

I would have either the new champ debuting it, saying that he'll do what Punk failed to deliver, or if Punk was going to win back the title shortly, have the new champ mention how Punk didn't deliver, then have Punk reveal it after he wins it back.

It would just seem totally random for Punk to turn up one night on raw saying "oh look new belt!". Wouldn't put it past WWE to do that though...

This design deserved a better run than 01-05. It's not too much yet just enough. This belt is sharp and has the WWE's original look.

That thing looks like a cartoon belt. The jewels are ugly, the words are big (as if someone doesn't realize that belt = champion), and I can only imagine how bad it'll look once they add color somewhere. It'll probably look better once it's on a strap and has some accent plates, but better is a relative term when you're comparing it to "whoa, that's awful."

PLEASE bring back the winged eagle belt, the undisputed belt or even the corporate championship belt. I'll take either one of those over that new one. But if those don't work, just keep the spinner belt.

Update:

I've been reading a number of comments and apparently its a side plate but even as a side plate its horrible. I don't see why they don't just bring back the undisputed title that was the best one in recent years.

So far, it appears they haven't given up on making the WWE title look like some rapper's bling.

I find it hard to believe they would commission that piece of crap. Even if it's a side plate, it looks like trash. I'm pretty sure almost all of us here could come up with a better design.

Why do so many people want the Undisputed belt back? It looked like fucking mid-card title!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that's just a side plate, not the main plate. There's no room for the title holders name.

However, I will say this, setting up Big Show for an Attitude Adjustment would be easier than carrying that bitch! Shit looks heavy as hell!

As a sideplate, it's perfectly servicable in my view. When I first saw the pic, I was thrown off by the shape of the plate because it's so different from the center plate from any other title we've seen. The more I looked at it, especially how it tapers to something of a point at the bottom & the way CHAMPION is written, the more I was convinced it was an extreme close up of one of the sideplates.

Honestly, I think people are getting FAR too worked up about this and, as usual, are jumping the gun. What's sad about this is that, again as usual, I think the repsonse thus far to something as generally inconsequential to the title as a whole to a close up of a sideplate design for the new title is a perfect indicator that you're not going to be satisfied no matter what the overall final design looks like. I have my fears that the title as a whole is going to look like shit as well, but how about actually giving something a chance before taking a giant dump all over it? I know, I know. It's a scary idea to ask internet fans to actually give something a chance & to wait until something is actually completed before trashing it or praising it.

The design will be 50\50 as far as pleasing the crowd goes. It wont spin, but wont likely be a re-boot of a previous popular belt either. No matter what it looks like, someone will complain. I say give the final design a shot and dont pass judgement on a design that isnt complete. If it is an epic fail, then so be it. I cant really see it being any worse than the current title, but they have surprised us in the past as far as what gets the ok. The last 2 designs (divas\tag title) were bad, but this is going to be the 'main' belt representing the company so I bet they put a bit more thought into it.

With the WWE leaning toward a bit more of an edgy product and the addition of 'attitude' into the video game might be a clue to the direction they are going. It obviously had issues with being clunky\heavy so I bet that what Punk saw was an early mock-up. Belts are expensive to make and take time to get done correctly. I assume Vince has some creativity left and will take things into consideration that he might not have previously. This new design will likely be around for some time, so I bet he would want it to look decent enough to market for years to come.


All in all, It will piss half of us off, some wont care and some will like it. We dont call the shots. It will please the people that hate the 'spinner' design- but will piss off everyone who wants the old school belts back. You cant win them all, but at least its a change. T

The WWE shouldn't reintroduce the old belts except as a short-term gimmick. But the new belt shouldn't look cartoonish. I'm pretty sure they can find some jewelers/engravers that can make a better looking belt. It shouldn't be over-the-top, it should have a look that gives the championship some visual prestige.

If the leaked photo is in fact just one of the side plates, then I would have to think the front of the belt is going to be a new design because it would be pointless to a big wwe logo on the side and in the front. I hope they go back to having a globe and eagle on the front with text saying WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Now that pretty much is the winged eagle/attitude era/undisputed championship belt, but they can always tinker with it and add something to seperate it from those.

If the new belt is in fact the pic that leaked?... holy shit. It's about tje same level of gaudy ugly as the current. It's a monstrosity that has a way too big wwe logo and too many jewels. Smplicity is better suited for title belts. The divas and tag belt is bad enough. Damn wwe, get a grip

Well hopefully the new title belt doesn't look like an abortion, but based on the Divas Title and Tag Title designs, that is a strong possibility.

I honestly don't mind the whole spinner belt thing when Cena holds the Title, because that makes sense (somewhat). Austin had his cute "skull" belt, Cena gets his spinner belt. Whatever. But it's silly to see someone who isn't Cena walk around with his title, especially when that someone is CM Punk. Punk holding the spinner belt is a walking contradiction, it weakens his character.
