Awww, come on!

Why must you do this to me, Lee? It seems like in every round you've put at least two games I love against each other, and it makes it so hard to pick! In this round, I was initially torn between Star Fox 64 and Link's Awakening.

Star Fox 64 is a brilliant on-rails shooter, probably one of the best of all time. It's fun, still fresh after all these years, and still as addictive as it was the day it came out. It introduced force feedback to the home console by using it in an effective way that few other games have managed to do. Seriously, try playing Star Fox 64 with and without Rumble Pak and tell me you don't feel the difference. On top of that, it had some funny and fitting voices that added so much to make it an experience that felt epic-in-scope.

Link's Awakening is my second favorite Zelda game, only surpassed by Majora's Mask. It was a BIG adventure in a small package, with characters and an ending that could tug on your heartstrings as well as any of the console Zelda games. It also had brilliant puzzles and level designs, and was one of the big pioneers of the Game Boy Color technology with Link's Awakening DX. It had good dialogue, great dungeons and puzzles, looked fantastic, played fantastically, and was absolutely massive with its sidequests and main quest.

Both of these games are near and dear to my heart. Both of these games have memorable and exciting levels and dialogue. Both of these games advanced technology in some way. But in the end, I'm going to have to go with Star Fox 64. It pains me to vote against Link's Awakening but nothing compared to turning on your Nintendo 64 and witnessing that opening sequence for the first time, with the controller shaking in your hand and the voices coming out of the TV set, only to start the game and realize that it was amazing in and of itself. It still impresses today, as I learned when I played it on Wii a few weeks ago.

Vote Star Fox 64.

I can't even justify voting for my beloved Crisis Core here. It is simply getting out shined by nearly every game on the list. Another game I really enjoy that won't be advancing is Jak and Daxter: The Precursor's Legacy. Really tough draws for both of these games. The votes really should be between two games. Link's Awakening, and Star Fox 64. It is really tough for me to choose between these two games. "Do a barrel role" is one of the most recognized phrases in video game history and the game it comes from was fun as hell. I'll vote for Link's Awakening though. It's my fourth favorite Zelda game, but I believe it deserves to advance to the tournament. It pains me to see nearly all of the games on the list go, but i've gotta go with Link's Awakening.

I picked Link's Awakening. Whoa, WHAT? Dagger Dias voted against a Final Fantasy title!? Did hell just freeze over? I like Crisis Core. Great game. However Star Fox 64 and Link's Awakening are both iconic for their consoles. They helped define an era. Star Fox was one of the best titles for the 64. Link's Awakening got my vote due to the fact that it was THE gameboy game for many years. It is still loads of fun to play and many childhood memories come from playing it while on a roadtrip or just anywhere. Link's Awakening for the win.

Any Zelda game on the Game Boy gets my pick here. If you owned a Game Boy, chances were that you owned or had to own a Zelda game, especially Link's Awakening. This is Zelda as one of it's finest and it's definitely a handheld classic.
