Possible Returns: Sheamus, Chris Jericho and Others....

Hard Hit Prince

Not really working as a

I'm just summing up a lot of reports that have been posted at various websites from PWTorch to Wrestlinginc about potential returns to WWE Television, particularly at The Royal Rumble Match - and some of them are big figures that people have been overlooking and forgetting.

1. SHEAMUS
The former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion has been sidelined with an injury, early reports stated that he would be out until the January pay-per-view and the most recent reports note that he'll be in Pittsburgh two days after the event.

Last time we saw him, he was not in a singles feud or involved in any storyline. He lost a match cleanly on Raw to Daniel Bryan right before SummerSlam 2013 and he's off ever since. Therefore I can see why it would be hard to get him in once again involved with the current programming, but as one of the WWE's top babyfaces it sure as hell means that he'll be returning to the ring this Sunday to boost the match - and we should never take it lightly the fact that a former Royal Rumble winner (2012) has a special return at one of the biggest matches of the year. Overall we all know that Sheamus works a lot better as a villain, but inside the ring he's a good worker in both hands and can tell a good story - but how's WWE putting him back as a babyface when they already have five big big babyfaces in John Cena, Batista, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and The Big Show? A lot to be expected and an interesting subject to discuss about the Celtic Warrior.

2. CHRIS JERICHO
That's right IWC's favorite part-time wrestler Chris Jericho is once again slated to return at the Royal Rumble event. After last year surprising everybody and getting one of the biggest reactions (as well as one of the best performances) the first ever WWE Undisputed Champion seems to be going after it once more. But what for? Last time we saw Jericho he was in a feud with "The Big Guy" Ryback and he even put him over at WWE's Money In The Bank PPV, this right after stealing the show at WWE Payback and creating a lot of buzz around one kid named Fandango at WrestleMania.

Some think that his return is only to put young guys over and there is even a thread in here about a potential Chris Jericho v. Big E. Langston feud towards WrestleMania, but will they use Jericho as once again an enhancement talent? Because let's be honest, he can still go with the same amount of passion and determination as he could back in 2001/2002 and even later with the re-creation of the methodical Jericho on SmackDown. Will he go after Randy Orton as well? Or could The Undertaker's streak be a goal? I for once believe that him and Miz could create a very unique tag team and run with it for sometime, but unfortunately WWE only sees the value of Jericho in losing to younger stars and maybe that young star could be The Shield's Dean Ambrose... A lot of paths to take for the former multi-time World Heavyweight Champion.

~~~~~~~~~~~ (no indication that the following could return at The Rumble)~~~~~~~~~~~
3. CHRISTIAN
The former World Heavyweight Champion - Christian was last seen as one of The Shield's latest victims when they put him out to scare WWE Hall of Famer Edge. He also had a cameo appearance at 2013 Slammy Awards where he showed signs that he was still injured. But does WWE remember that? Will Christian return at this years Royal Rumble and go after the members of one of the best factions that WWE created? Or could he just be put in the back burner for the remaining time of this Road To WrestleMania? Either way, latest reports state that he's ready to return, he's healthy and he still is a good asset to WWE's roster.
4. EVAN BOURNE
WWE's resident high flyer has been out for over a year with an injury after a car crash. The 30-year old performer from St. Louis has been hinting that his return could be imminent and that he's ready for action for sometime now. His latest pictures show a more jacked up Evan Bourne and a more determined person to get to the top. But will the former WWE Tag Team Champion return at this year's Royal Rumble? If that's so, what will he be doing in The Road To WrestleMania? With Kofi being promised a singles push and a renewal of his character it's unlikely that Air Boom could reunite, it is also unlikely that Evan Bourne could get a singles push ahead of people like Big E. Langston, Damien Sandow, The Shield members and Bray Wyatt when it comes to have a match at WrestleMania 30.
So my money is on the postpone of Bourne's return to after WrestleMania. He is still one of the most exciting wrestlers WWE has, and the live crowd as shown more than once their appreciation for the appearance of the former Matt Sydal. Thus that mean that he'll be getting a push by his return? Or that he'll just be put alongside Tyson Kidd and JTG in the "wanted" list?
5. ROB VAN DAM
The former WWE and ECW World Champion made his return last year at Money In The Bank with a 90+ day contract. In that time period he had feuds with the likes of Alberto Del Rio and Dean Ambrose but what does he have in store for the future? It's been reported that "The Whole Fn Show" could return for WrestleMania season as his contract obligations state that he'll have a 90 day run, time off and another 90 day run until WWE finds him as a loss of money and time. Could he be one of the surprising returns for this years Royal Rumble? Maybe #2 and square off against a CM Punk in the beginning of the match. I can see him getting a spot at WrestleMania, maybe against someone like Big E. Langston or even Ryback if that's what they are aiming...
- Other new stories could be the return of Drew McIntyre to his former gimmick as the Chosen One as he's been hinting that on Twitter for sometime now and getting himself in what seems a storyline with Sheamus.
Discuss everything about possible returns and what you would like to see of said superstars going forward in one of the most exciting roads to WrestleMania.
Jericho and Sheamus are going to be in Pittsburgh this weekend, in fact, I'd be surprised if they weren't here now. They're signing autographs at a custom car show tomorrow.
That doesn't mean they're going to perform at the Rumble though.
I honestly would be shocked if Sheamus doesn't return. In order of most likely to return to least likely, this is what I have:
Sheamus
RVD
Jericho
Christian
Bourne
Sheamus, even though we've gotten no real confirmation about anything, it just seems all but confirmed that he's going to return at the Rumble. RVD too seems very likely in my opinion, I believe he even said in an interview that Royal Rumble was a target return date. Jericho I do believe will return for the Road to WrestleMania, but I don't think it'll be in the Rumble. Two years in a row? That's kind of ehh if you ask me. Christian could return, and I expect him too soon, but will it be in the Rumble? I don't know... maybe. I put Evan Bourne down as the least likely because he's been out for SO long and he has never been all that big a deal in WWE, no offense to him, I find him very entertaining but I sort of feel like him returning in the Rumble would be a waste. Have him return on a Raw.
I was earlier this week predicting Hogan as well, but I'm not anymore. According to WrestleZone and a few other websites, he took a physical and the results weren't great so I don't see him doing any physical activity. Plus I couldn't see a scenario where he gets eliminated, anything I came up with either wouldn't work, or sounded strange/weird/awkward.
If I had to truly guess, I'd say only Sheamus and RVD return this Sunday.
I'd like to see Sheamus, Jericho, Christian. I don't care about RVD or Bourne.
I was also thinking about this the other day: The Undertaker.
We're all expecting him to wrestle a match at Wrestlemania but what if they bring him back at the Rumble to start a feud with his WM opponent?
The Rumble match is a good way to bring him back because he can sit in the corner/lay on the mat, and doesn't have to constantly be fighting, the way he would be in a one-on-one match.
I think this is going to be a weak Rumble as far as surprise entrants go. We're all already expecting Sheamus and Jericho to return, with them having scheduled appearances in Pittsburgh. I expect RVD to be in the match, he's about due to return. And as far as Christian and Bourne go, I think there'd be crickets for them. I like Christian, but it's hard to stay interested in a wrestler that constantly gets injured. And it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people don't even remember Bourne.
Nash wouldn't shock me, with him recently posting a picture of his hair and beard dyed, claiming it was for a pilot. He said the same thing back in 2011.
There's 10 spots in the Rumble that haven't been claimed so far, so they could all be taken by legends, but I doubt it. The only guys who could come down that aisle and truly surprise me would be Warrior, Sting, Scott Hall, and Taker.
I think that it's pretty well advertised that Matt Hardy will be in the area that weekend, regardless of his affiliation with ROH, it's always a possibility.
I am expecting from the reports I have been reading,that Sheamus is damn there a lock to return.. We havent seen Sheamus since early summer 2013.. He will make his return as my guess is somewhere in the low 20's entry. As another entry,Jericho is interesting and this is the time he always makes his return.. Jericho stays,puts over younger talent which is awesome for the business..
Christian,while i like him he is hard to stay behind because christian as of late, he is always injured.. RVD and Bourne I really dont care,about either of them.. RVD to me,will never achieve legendary status,while he is/was a great performer is someone that people really dont clamor to see return.. Bourne,the business has moved on without him quite fine and really i dont see a scenario in where you could stick him. He almost screwed his own career by popping positive for drugs twice.. Plus he had a career threatening injury,Bourne if he were to come back has a lot to make up for..
Sting posted quite an interesting tweet the only thing for Sting is nothing is for sure.. There has been quite a bit of talk lately and it seems like this time it has legs that sting will be in the WWE.. While 5 years too late Imo,it be really a shock to see him walk down the ramp at somewhere 26,27 entrant.. But i wouldnt be surprised at the same time.
This gave me an interesting idea. If Stings music hits at say 26 or 27 and the stadium goes insane, imagine what would happen if the buzzer goes off for the next entrant and the lights go out and the gong. IF WWE was going to do Sting vs. Undertaker at WM, that's the perfect way to set it up. Have them fight (very briefly) in the Rumble.
I'm excited for the return of Sheamus and Jericho. Sheamus is someone that is undoubtedly talented and it will be great to see him back. He can work heel or face and that makes his return so interesting. I honestly think he can win the Rumble because matches against Lesnar, Cena and Orton are all possibilities and, in my opinion, he is a better choice than Batista.
Jericho is another return that interests me. My main question is, if he returns, what will he do. Jericho is a top quality superstar and it will be great to see him once more. It is difficult to predict but I think, with the other names, he might be relegated to a multi-man match. Maybe something like Jericho and two others versus the Wyatt Family.
Christian is just kind of meh. He is a great worker but there is so much talent on the roster that I'm fine either way. There is no way in my mind he can work a singles match at WM and thereafter I can't think of anything good. Of course it depends on who the mid-card champs are but I think a feud with Seth Rollins would be a decent choice.
I hope Evan Bourne returns. He is still young and while he will never be a world champ he still has potential. Mid-card or the tag-team division is a good place for him. He can work exciting matches and has the potential to be extremely over with the crowd. I do hope he returns.
RVD is like Jericho. There isn't a massive amount he can do but I still want him back. We know he can work great matches and, like Y2J, he'll probably be resigned to a multi-man match if he returns for Mania.
Sting is a no and hope the IWC would give up on the Taker/Mania pipedream.
I expect Sheamus and RVD to show up, and that would be good.
I don't trust Y2J o return at this year's Rumble, I think the card was well plated last year.
Evan Bourne I would love to see back but I don't know specifically were he s health wise.
I'd love for Jake Roberts to return like he wanted..that would be great.
Undertaker would be a good refreshing way to set up a Mania feud, but I doubt it.
Sheamus will be returning soon enough, if not at the Rumble he will be at Raw the following night. Jericho always returns around money season, he could be brought in to elevate Bray Wyatt now the Bryan's involvement has changed and he was switched back to a face. RVD may return, but jhe wont make an impact. Bourne, the midget that noody cares about???? Christian i surely ready to be released, with his constant flow of injuries, he would be better suited as a color commentator than an active 40 year old in ring talent
I don't see how WWE is going to have room for all these guys unless they put them all into a bunch of tag team matches. PWInsider.com released a report earlier today stating what WWE's five top matches at WrestleMania will be. IF correct, it'll be:
WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton vs. Batista
Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus
John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt
CM Punk vs. Triple H
The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar
I know everyone wants to be part of WrestleMania, but there's only so much room. As I said, if all of these guys make a return, they'll probably be involved in some tag team matches. Otherwise, there'll be close to a dozen matches on the show resulting in a lot of matches that are too damn short to mean anything.
