I came across a story at wrestlinging.com suggesting that WWE might be changing the characters of a few stars lower on the totem pole.
During an appearance on WWE's YouTube gaming channel, Xavier Woods appears with Sandow and Sandow looks like he's adopting a rapping/beatnik poet gimmick in which he's called "Sizzle" and he speaks in rhyme. He's described in the video as wearing a black Beret, wearing sunglasses, has some sort of kerchief around his neck and a black, sleeveless muscle shirt.
For a few weeks, Adam Rose has been dropping hints of a possible gimmick change via Twitter and it looks like it might be the formation of a tag team with Brad Maddox as somewhat of a fitness tag team. Rose & Maddox posted a picture of themselves on Twitter posing with Rose having a towel draped around his neck while Maddox is kneeling and posing with a towel around his waist. https://twitter.com/WWEUniverse/status/627642736514969600/photo/1
Going by their message, the team could possibly be called "Beef Mode."
As for Sandow, I think the guy has a ton of personality and is naturally comfortable on the mic, but it looks as though he's going to be in Santino Marella's role for the foreseeable future. I've gotten a kick out of his antics while he was Miz's "stunt double" and a lot of others did as well, partially because the gimmick was different, because Sandow was genuinely entertaining in the gimmick and in the hopes that it'd lead to a serious push afterward.
As for this potential team of Rose & Maddox, or really Sandow's, I'd have to see it to really be able to judge it. My initial feeling, based on the pic and description on Twitter, is that Rose & Maddox are going to be some obnoxious heel team who constantly rag on the audience for being out of shape, lazy, etc. though I think it's 50/50 as to whether or not they'll be something more serious or a couple of comedy jobbers. If they portray themselves as being harshly critical while bragging about their own physiques, which both guys are in really good shape, along the same vein as Ravishing Rick Rude, there MIGHT be something worth watching. If they're portrayed as these sort of highly energetic, super annoying, loud parodies of fitness trainers who's motivational pep talks "accidentally" come off as criticisms, then I certainly don't expect very much.
To be honest, I'm kind of interested in seeing what these two gimmicks are all about one way or another; I'd personally rather see Sandow portrayed in a serious light and moved up the ladder to be a serious mid-card title contender but that doesn't look to be in the cards. As for Adam Rose and Brad Maddox, just about anything would be a step up from Rose's Russell Brand inspired...whatever the hell he is and Maddox as this spineless gopher for The Authority.
