Owen Hart HOF???

Post

Every year around this time I sit and wait for justice to be done. I watch RAW with great anticipation and hope. I wish for nothing more. That is, the long overdue announcement that Owen Hart will be inducted into the WWE hall of Fame.

Based on wrestling merits, it seems like a no brainer:

World Wrestling Federation Accomplishments:
WWF European Championship (1 time)
WWF Intercontinental Championship (2 times)
WWF Tag Team Championship (4 times) – with Yokozuna2), British Bulldog (1), and Jeff Jarrett (1)
King of the Ring (1994)

I know that Owen never won the Big One (WWE Championship), but he was bound to sooner or later. He was that good. It bothers me that someone like Eddie Gurerrero was inducted so very soon after his death. Eddie’s life was cut short because of substance abuse and a very fast paced life (read his book). Owen’s death was senseless and ended on WWE’s time. He actually gave his life for the company. I still think Eddie should be in, but to put him before Owen irks me.

I’m not sure Owen will ever make it, especially since his wife sued WWE and got a large settlement.

So, what do you think? Will Owen Hart ever be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? If so, who accepts for him? Bret, his wife & children, someone else?

Owen belongs there. I go through the same thing every year waiting for them to announce his name. I don't hold the highest opinion in the world of Vince McMahon but I like to think he wouldn't hold out a guy who deserves to be there because of the suit; especially considering WWE was clearly at fault there.

As far as not having a World Title; the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiasi technically never won it either. Then again he retired long before Owen passed and he's just now getting in.

I try to be optimistic and think he's getting in they're just holding on him for a while. You do bring up a good point though about them inducting Eddie right after he died.

Ugh...

And every year someone makes this exact same thread and every single year, the answer is going to be the same. It's not Vince's call. Owen's wife doesn't want him in the HOF because she doesn't want to be associated with the WWE after that interview Vince did with Brian Pillman's wife. That's all that can be said about the topic. Unless Owen's wife changes her mind, you will never see Owen in the HOF. Case Closed.

wow i did not know that about his wife...i just thought it was because of the "only 2 dead" rule vince made so that the show wouldnt become a depressing night. 1 question tho, couldnt vince go over her head and try to get bret to do it? and as well the bulldog?

I'm sorry bud but Owen would never win the big one, if he would have it would of happened in 1994-1995 when he was hot on a roll, really Owen was around when the big guys like Diesel, Razor, Sid, Mable and Taker were being pushed, had them guys never been pushed (Diesel more so) then Owen would of been a world champ, then came the HBK era, followed by the Austin era.

I'm one of the biggest Owen Hart fans you'll come across please believe, but Owen was never destined for a world title, yet his resume is top notch, and IMO he was one half of the greatest tag team of all time, (Bulldog/Owen) them two meshed well and IMO it was a dream team of sorts IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if Owen and Stu get a double nomination like the Blackjacks and Peter Miavia/Rocky Johnson.

no once someone is married usually any rights to anything goes to the spouse upon death. bret can try and convince her to change her mind but i doubt that will happen. They could do a loophole and induct the hart family tho.

No owen was great he did alot of good things in wwf era,But honestly if WWE wanted to induct owen in the HOF he should of been there since a long time. But like shafe_41 said if his wife doesnt want owen in the HOF O well WWE cant do nothing about it.Im not sure if one day he will be in the HOF but yet agian he might never be in the HOF.

Does he deserve it? Of course he does. But for those who dont know, in perhaps one his lowest moments, Vince McMahon intervierwed the wife of Brian Pillman the day after his friggin death, in an attempt to grab ratings, and exploiting his death in the process. Because of this, Owen's wife, swore off having ANYTHING to do with the WWE/F. Shes been critical of any idea of Bret returning, and has refused Vince's attempts to have Owen elected posthumously. Cant say I blame her. Was he a great performer, great athlete, phenomenal wrestler? Yeah. Will he ever be in the Hall of Fame? Thats up to Owens wife. I guess if Bret can make peace, anything can happen........

I'm not so sure about that statement. I think he may have had a rebirth when Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko and Saturn came in. Owen would have thrived in matches w/ those guys. There was alot of potential for feuds and tag matches, MOF thinking about those matches gives me goosebumps.

Back on topic I know the deal about his wife and I understand her POV and sympathize w/ her loss. However, a HOF induction or best of Owen Hart DVD will not make or break WWE's profit margins one way or the other. She should allow it for the fans, while negotiating a cut of the DVD sales for her and her family. Vince would jump at the opportunity to erase (in any way shape or form) that black mark from his companies history. Owen deserves to be in the HOF. I know its just a tv show and doesn't matter all that much, but considering that Owen is one of the most underrated wrestlers of all time I'll take what I can get.

I concur, but think about it, Owen was jobbing to Dlo brown and Steve Blackman, the chances of him ever getting a world title run, were thin, from 1996 on wards, Owen falls in the same catagary as Perfect, Rude, Bulldog, Million Dollar Man, a great talent, mega heel but just didn't get the belt but had the charisma and talent to run with it.

Owen should of been inducted into the HOF a long time ago, maybe when Bret was inducted even, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets inducted with Stu or maybe even Bulldog in the near future.

God, I'm trying to imagine the narrator, speaking over Owen's career highlights. How would any narration explain, being fair to both the Hart family and WWE, what happened? It would be too awkward, and anyone who knows what happened, or was watching that night would get pretty pissed about all of it. I think Owen's wife should stay away. Owen doens't need it.

And some of you are right, Owen never wuld have won a world title. Why? Because Vince is a vindictive SOB, mad at Bret for jumping ship.

That was Owen's catchphrase. how true that is Owen, how true. First off, the whole WWE Hall Of Fame Induction thhing is a SHAM. I mean, WHY DOES VINCE McMAHON GET TO PRETTY MUCH SINGLE HANDEDLY DICTATE WHO GET THE NOD FOR THE H.O.F.??? In MY opinion, I feel like this: ok Vince, You dictate who you want to see inducted up to a certain point. At LEAST ONE inductee SHOULD be nominated, and voted on by the people who fueled the success of that individual, and Vince as well. Look at football, basketball, hockey, the H.O.F. gets voted on by sports writers, coaches, owners, ect. WHY DON"T WE HAVE ANY SAY-SO??? I feel a list of legitimate, and rightful potential inductees should be composited, and then voted on by "THE WWE UNIVERSE". IS ANYONE IN AGREEANCE WITH ME ON THIS???
