Life's A Bitch, And Then You Mosh
The original, done by Black Sabbath, is a cult classic, and is revered by fans and potheads alike. The music is a little softer than what Sabbath is best known for, and the lyrics resemble Ozzy's solo work more than Iron Man, but it's still a very good song. What's less known, is that Godsmack covered this for one of the tribute CDs made for Ozzfest. They rocked up the music a little, and Sully's vocals are good, but no one can match Ozzy.

Personally, I like Godsmack's version a little more. While Ozzy clearly nails the vocals, Sully does as good a job as you'd expect from a then 3rd or 4th year band. I also like the music a little more, since it's a little louder, and fits the vocals better than the original fit Ozzy's. Of course, if I were stoned, I'd probably want mellow and slow...

I know you're a huge fan of Godsmack NSL, so I won't rag on them or anything. But to me, Black Sabbath's version is untouchable, and Godsmack's version can't even hold a candle to the original. The original is not only a rock and metal classic, it's a stoner jam for the ages, passed down from generation to generation my man. One of my very, very favorite Sabbath songs, and there's just no way Godsmack's version could ever even compare to it in my opinion.

Nice choice though. Any excuse to listen to Sweet Leaf is okay by me.

Black Sabbath all the way. I like Godsmack and Sully's vocals are very distinctive, but nothing can compare to Ozzy's delivery. Truthfully, I think Godsmack's cover of this song would come in 3rd place, because Ugly Kid Joe did a great version of this song 15 years ago.

Never been a Sabbath fan and Ozzy's vocals can sometimes be irritating. But I am a Godsmack fan and think they're really underrated, one of the best post-Grunge bands. So I gotta go with Godsmack on this one.
