Fuel The Fire

Getting Noticed By Management
Ok so I'm trying out a series and this is part 1 so if it goes well i will try to think of different topics as well.
For this its Old Vs new and its different people in the wwe that have the same role from old and new "present"
So the first topic is scary sherry vs vickie guerrero.
Sherry has been known to be associated with top stars and helped HBK move to the main event picture with association only. She did an excellent job at making her wrestler look like they where the next big thing. She was also associated with Macho man. She did wonders with the growd as was able to get heat and able to help elevate mid carders on a regular basis.

Vickie I think is able to get more heat the Sherri but I have yet to see her elevate someone to the main event status. I know they are working on dolph ziggler but im not sold on it yet. You cant count edge because he was main event before she came in the picture.

So who do you think is the better manager. Vickie Guerrero or Scary Sherry.

Vickie Guererro and it's not even close. Sherry, during her time in WWE, seemed so cartoonish in terms of the make up and the clothes that I just didn't really take her all that seriously. I recall a promo segment way back when Randy Savage & Sherri were allied with Zeus in which Sherri was stirring a "bubbling cauldron" while cackling like a witch.

Vickie Guerrero just excels in the role the WWE has for her. They've used her successfully in the past to sort of reinvigorate Edge's career and they've used her to successfully help Dolph Ziggler finally to build heat with the crowds. Aside from Michael Cole, nobody else in pro wrestling today can generate heat like Vickie. The woman's a walking furnace. You wanna get someone over as a heel, associate them with Vickie and it'll happen.

^^^ I concur with Jack on everything apart from the Edge part, I see it has Edge got Vickie over that bit more and sold her as a main event manager, but Vickie is probably the best ever Woman role WWE ever created, she doesn't need to wrestle just give her a mic and let her walk out on stage .. she wouldn't even need to open her mouth and the crowd on down on her like a hobo on bacon sarnie, that is gold.

As good as Sherri was during her time in WWF as a manager, none of her guys (Savage, DiBiase, HBK) ever won a title. In fact, they did better AFTER she was out of their lives. She did her best managerial work outside of WWF. Randy Savage and Ted DiBiase were well-established long before she came into their lives and didn't really need her. Shawn Michaels didn't really need her, either. I think they may have stuck her with him to give her something to do.

Vickie gets major league heat, but sometimes it's hard to tell if it's real heat or "get off my TV, you annoying bitch" heat. That said, she has definitely helped Dolph Ziggler's career as of late. Would anyone care about him if Vickie wasn't managing him? She should get a few more guys to manage and have a stable.

I'm gonna have to write in my own vote and say Stephanie McMahon. She got more heat than both Vickie and Sherri, definitely pushed more midcarders into the main event, and was just overall more important to the WWE than the other choices. In terms of heel female managers go, Steph is at the top of the mountain with Triple H and Degeneration-X, just like in 2000.

I guess I'll be in the minority & say Sherri. While true that she didn't manage a wrestler to a singles world title, she managed multiple tag team champions. She managed Harlem Heat to 7 tag team title reigns alone. She also helped to get Shawn Michaels over as a heel after he split with Marty Janetty. Maybe Shawn could have done it on his own, but Sherri certainly helped. Not only that, but let's not forget the fact that Sherri was a 4 time women's champion (3 in AWA, 1 in WWF). In fact, her reign in WWF was 15 months. That's impressive for any champion. I have to say, I'm not a fan of Vickie. I see that she gets a lot of heat, but I think it's more because people just don't want to see her anymore. I know she causes me to change the channel. I don't think she's anywhere near the performer Sherri was.

i pretty sure she helped HBK to the IC title !! and the manage harlem heat and she did manage macho man when he was king savage and wwf champ for a short time! macho just lost the title to hogan he dumped sherri and married elisabith .
so she has manage 7 time tag champs
1 wwf title
2 ic titles
and was 4 time womans champ
sherri own vicky
she worked for here titles vicky just stole hand handed them over as gm !!
sherri in a land slide sorry

I hate to word it this way, but I'm going to have to call bullshit on the part I put in bold. The simple reason is, it's a distortion of fact. Vickie never managed anyone to anything. She outright abused her authority, with the sole intent being to, literally, hand championships to whoever kissed her ass the most. She has never simply been an actual manager, until now. She has always been General Manager, or "Offical Consultant," which, for some idiotic reason that was never explained, had the exact same power.

"She helped Dolph's career." How? By literally handing him the World Championship? How long did he keep that title, anyway? Seriously, how does it "help" anyone's career to be known as having one of the shortest reigns of any wrestling champion..... ever? It completely buried the guy as being incapable of doing anything on his own. And, let's be honest, what has he actually done, on his own? He's a joke, and I expect him to be future endeavored by the end of the year. How is that an improvement on his career? (By the way, that's not a rhetorical question. I really want an answer.)

And, let's be honest. Edge got the exact same nepotistic treatment from a General Manager Vicky when they were "married." And, Edge never needed Vicky, to begin with. I say again, Vicky Guererro has never been portrayed as a manager, until now. She has always been a corrupt authority figure, who used nepotism to benefit anyone and everyone who would kiss her ass.

Sherry wins, by default. "Better manager" goes to the only actual manager in the discussion.

Sherri, definitely. Someone mentioned she was too cartoonish, but that was the era of wrestling we were in at the time. Any time you think of HBK circa WM8, you think of Sherri. The iconic pose. Hell, 15 years later they brought her back in a feud with Angle. I don't know if 15 years from now they'll ever want to wheel out Vickie for any sort of angle.
