Something that Linkara mentioned in regards to this bit puzzles me. He said that Richie's only real purpose in the show was to provide a red herring as to who the White Ranger could be. But there wasn't even the slightest hint within that two-episode frame that it could be him. What's that all about?

It was supposed to be some guy from VR Troopers and they tried again to get a VR guy with the Gold Ranger.

Actually, Jason David Frank was supposed to star in VR Troopers, hence why he was originally written out. It was only because of fans asking him to return that he was brought back as the White Ranger.

But you are right on the Gold Ranger part.
