Thanks for the kind words guys, my sister was in a car accident yesterday and I had to rush to the hospital to see her right in the middle of my coverage of the TNA PPV on 411, but luckily she's fine and has already been released. Thanks for thoughts guys, I appreciate it.
Got the movie Wasted in the mail today. I saw you mention it when talking about Aaron Paul, looked it up and thought it looked great (I'm also a big fan of Nick Stahl, so him starring in it as well was another huge selling point for me). I'm going to watch it sometime tomorrow. Looking forward to it.
Also, rewatched Delirious yesterday after Raw... such a great fucking movie. I know you're going to love it when you FINALLY get around to watching it, lol.
And have you ever seen Zero Day, man? EASILY the greatest movie about a school shooting ever made. Blows Elephant right out of the fucking water. I first saw it a few years ago, and liked it, but watched it again this weekend and fuck it is great. It's a shame those actors and that writer/director didn't get a break after that because they were incredible.
I also watched the movie Twelve last week, which I see in your sig you watched lately too. Totally agree with your rating, fucking awful film. It tried SO HARD to be a Bret Easton Ellis book and it just didn't work at all. There were a few cool moments here and there, but man, what a bad film. Joel Schumacher is such a fucking hack.
Oh, you ever seen The Last Picture Show? Watched that for the first time on Sunday and it blew me away. After thinking about it I realized that the same shit happening in that film to their town is happening in my own town right now. I got a bunch of great ideas and am considering trying to write-up a sort of modern re-imagining/remake of the film set in my own town.
I watched Four Lions this weekend, and it was pretty fantastic. Have you seen that movie, X?
I'm in a class this summer where the professor basically teaches us how to be a film producer, and one of the things he does is show us films that he worked on and stops and tells us how they did certain scenes or asks us how much time we think the entire shoot took and yada yada yada, but of course he only shows us films he actually worked on. Some aren't bad, like Atlantic City with Burt Lancaster and Susan Sarandon. Others, like Thirteenth Child (a movie about the Jersey Devil, hits close to home) are GOD fucking awful, though in the case of Thirteenth Child he admits that it was a fucking disaster from start to finish.
Anyway, going into the class I was really excited because I was 90% sure I wanted to be a producer. The class is almost over and now I'm like, 10% sure I want to be a producer. Apparently you don't get to sleep, have a family, or do anything but work for about 20 years until you've made it big enough that you can basically just get people to do your work for you on name power alone and only concentrate on projects that you're really interested in. Now we know how Jerry Bruckheimer puts out so much complete shit every year.
Ahhh... the BEE thing crossed my mind as well! The movie so badly wanted to be a mix of Gossip Girl and Less Than Zero/The Rules of Attraction, but holy fuck did it fail miserably.
The only thing good about the movie to me was the song in the end credits.
I've been meaning to watch The Last Picture Show for years, man, but just never got around to it. Dawson's Creek is actually what made me want to check it out, but again... it's just one of those films I've continuously put off for something else. I'll finally get around to it eventually I'm sure, and I bet I'll feel like a big dummy for putting it off for so long once I finally watch it.
Oh, and have you watched the newest episode of Breaking Bad yet? If not, then you must do so immediately. It's perhaps a top 5 best episode in the show's history, IMO. I fucking LOVED it.
Aye, that entire film just failed miserably at it's intent. I mean, I actually liked some of the stuff in it, but as usual Schumacher had NO IDEA of what kind of film he was trying to make. I kind of liked the main kid, the drug dealer though. And I've got a big old crush on Emma Roberts. Still, shit movie.
I didn't realize they mentioned it in Dawson's Creek but it would make sense since DC always dealt with alot of the same issues when it comes to relationships and always wanting something you can't have. Damn I've got to get back on my DC viewing, I haven't watched an episode in like 2-3 weeks now, still stuck in the middle of Season 3. I should get back on that.
Nah I'm going to check it out tomorrow afternoon, but now I'm excited as hell for it.
Also jmt, did you happen to get a chance to check it out?
Okay, just to give some right-off-the-bat initial thoughts... you truly have a great voice for radio (no kissing ass here, really mean that), that Bizzy chick does sound hot and seems cool as fuck on top of that, and this 666 song kicks all kinds of ass, never heard it before.
So I made a list of all the movies I want to see between now and the mid-October. The list isn't complete I'm sure, but it's pretty full.
Captain America- Still haven't seen it, and my theater isn't showing it more than once or twice a day now. Better hurry up before it's too late!
Crazy Stupid Love- I love Emma Stone and Steve Carrell, I appreciated Ryan Gosling when he's doing a good job, and Jullianne Moore can be great... or horrible. Either way, I've heard great things about this and want to see it.
30 Minutes or Less- Probably going to get baked with Mr. Charles Hedberg this weekend and see it. Looks like that kind of movie.
Cowboys and Aliens- I've heard mixed things, but I still want to see it. Looks like an enjoyable popcorn movie.
The Change-Up- I could use some cheap laughs.
The Help- Love Emma Stone, love people coming together to beat segregation, and love sassy black ladies.
Fright Night- I like the kid who plays the lead, McLovin'/Red Mist/Albie... I can never remember his name. It looks like a fun little comedic-horror film.
Contaigon- I had a friend who saw this and said that what Jaws did to swimming, this movie will do to being around other people. Looks absolutely mind bogglingly scary, because of how real it could be. On a slightly related note, I saw 28 Days Later on sale for 5 bucks at Newbury Comics today, so I went ahead and bought it. I've never seen it, but I've heard nothing but good things, and I plan on watching it tomorrow night.
Money Ball- I'm a huge Brad Pitt fan, and the movie looks surprisingly fascinating.
50/50- Looks like Knocked Up V2.0 in that it takes a very serious topic and makes it humorous. Only difference is that it might not all end up okay in the end, and the stakes are a lot higher than having a bastard child. Love Seth Rogan, love JGL, love Anna Kendrick, and I think this movie is going to be great.
Tucker and Dale vs. Evil- Looks like a SOLID comedic horror film.
Real Steel- Dude, it's like Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots... THE MOVIE.
We Need to Talk About Kevin- Holllly shit, I just watched the trailer and I was gripped. Looks incredibly dark, and I love seeing John C Riley act in serious roles. I have high hopes for this movie.
