[Official] X Marks the Spot: Xfearbefore Xclusive Thread

Thanks for the kind words guys, my sister was in a car accident yesterday and I had to rush to the hospital to see her right in the middle of my coverage of the TNA PPV on 411, but luckily she's fine and has already been released. Thanks for thoughts guys, I appreciate it.

Solemn nod to the sis, dude. Prayers and strength, she seems like a sweetie

Got the movie Wasted in the mail today. I saw you mention it when talking about Aaron Paul, looked it up and thought it looked great (I'm also a big fan of Nick Stahl, so him starring in it as well was another huge selling point for me). I'm going to watch it sometime tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Also, rewatched Delirious yesterday after Raw... such a great fucking movie. I know you're going to love it when you FINALLY get around to watching it, lol.

And have you ever seen Zero Day, man? EASILY the greatest movie about a school shooting ever made. Blows Elephant right out of the fucking water. I first saw it a few years ago, and liked it, but watched it again this weekend and fuck it is great. It's a shame those actors and that writer/director didn't get a break after that because they were incredible.

Jesus man, have you been reading my mind lately or something? Lol, I literally just watched Zero Day a few days ago for the first time and absolutely loved it, had been meaning to watch it for awhile. Really disturbing but well made film. I love Elephant though, it's a very different kind of film than Zero Day.

I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a download of Wasted online for weeks man. I haven't seen it in like 7 or 8 years but I remembered loving it and being really impressed by Nick Stahl and Aaron Paul's work in it. I may have to order the DVD myself man.

I also watched the movie Twelve last week, which I see in your sig you watched lately too. Totally agree with your rating, fucking awful film. It tried SO HARD to be a Bret Easton Ellis book and it just didn't work at all. There were a few cool moments here and there, but man, what a bad film. Joel Schumacher is such a fucking hack.

Oh, you ever seen The Last Picture Show? Watched that for the first time on Sunday and it blew me away. After thinking about it I realized that the same shit happening in that film to their town is happening in my own town right now. I got a bunch of great ideas and am considering trying to write-up a sort of modern re-imagining/remake of the film set in my own town.

I watched Four Lions this weekend, and it was pretty fantastic. Have you seen that movie, X?

I'm in a class this summer where the professor basically teaches us how to be a film producer, and one of the things he does is show us films that he worked on and stops and tells us how they did certain scenes or asks us how much time we think the entire shoot took and yada yada yada, but of course he only shows us films he actually worked on. Some aren't bad, like Atlantic City with Burt Lancaster and Susan Sarandon. Others, like Thirteenth Child (a movie about the Jersey Devil, hits close to home ) are GOD fucking awful, though in the case of Thirteenth Child he admits that it was a fucking disaster from start to finish.

Anyway, going into the class I was really excited because I was 90% sure I wanted to be a producer. The class is almost over and now I'm like, 10% sure I want to be a producer. Apparently you don't get to sleep, have a family, or do anything but work for about 20 years until you've made it big enough that you can basically just get people to do your work for you on name power alone and only concentrate on projects that you're really interested in. Now we know how Jerry Bruckheimer puts out so much complete shit every year.

Ahhh... the BEE thing crossed my mind as well! The movie so badly wanted to be a mix of Gossip Girl and Less Than Zero/The Rules of Attraction, but holy fuck did it fail miserably.

The only thing good about the movie to me was the song in the end credits.

I've been meaning to watch The Last Picture Show for years, man, but just never got around to it. Dawson's Creek is actually what made me want to check it out, but again... it's just one of those films I've continuously put off for something else. I'll finally get around to it eventually I'm sure, and I bet I'll feel like a big dummy for putting it off for so long once I finally watch it.

Oh, and have you watched the newest episode of Breaking Bad yet? If not, then you must do so immediately. It's perhaps a top 5 best episode in the show's history, IMO. I fucking LOVED it.

Afraid not. Is that the one with the kid from the Sixth Sense in it?

Sounds like an awesome class and one I'd be interested in. I've just started early work on my first attempt at a screenplay in several years. The last time I tried to write one I think was when I was like sixteen, and that was a cheap-o slasher flick that some buddies and I came up with. Only problem? We found out later on that basically the entire concept that we had come up with on our own was basically the same plot for the old slasher flick The Burning (which has a SHITLOAD of young soon-to-be stars and is one of the best slashers ever if you ever feel in the mood for one) but with a backstory thrown in about a pair of brothers and their abusive father.

Almost like...a punk rock re-imagining of The Last Picture Show, but with a lot of autobiographical stuff thrown in and set in my own home town, which is going through some of the same shit the town in that film was. For once I've finally got an idea that I actually like enough to start writing an actual treatment for it. Who knows, maybe if I actually finish it one day I can submit it to the Rhode Island Film Festival, they have a bunch of screenplay and other contests and shit they hold. Good festival.

Aye, it sounds like a hectic and stressful life. Ain't you ever seen Entourage negro?

Ahhh... the BEE thing crossed my mind as well! The movie so badly wanted to be a mix of Gossip Girl and Less Than Zero/The Rules of Attraction, but holy fuck did it fail miserably.

The only thing good about the movie to me was the song in the end credits.

Aye, that entire film just failed miserably at it's intent. I mean, I actually liked some of the stuff in it, but as usual Schumacher had NO IDEA of what kind of film he was trying to make. I kind of liked the main kid, the drug dealer though. And I've got a big old crush on Emma Roberts. Still, shit movie.

I didn't realize they mentioned it in Dawson's Creek but it would make sense since DC always dealt with alot of the same issues when it comes to relationships and always wanting something you can't have. Damn I've got to get back on my DC viewing, I haven't watched an episode in like 2-3 weeks now, still stuck in the middle of Season 3. I should get back on that.

Oh, and have you watched the newest episode of Breaking Bad yet? If not, then you must do so immediately. It's perhaps a top 5 best episode in the show's history, IMO. I fucking LOVED it.

Nah I'm going to check it out tomorrow afternoon, but now I'm excited as hell for it.

Can't get this damn R.E.M. song out of my head man...

The kid (handsome lead guy) pretty much plays the EXACT same character on Gossip Girl, except in Twelve he was a drug dealer. Either Chace Crawford has no range whatsoever, or they told him to be the Gossip Girl guy, which again shows how poor the film is.

And I think you're being a bit hard on Schumacher. Sure, he's hit or miss, but he's gave us some great movies. The Lost Boys, Flatliners, Falling Down, The Client, 8mm, Tigerland... these are some good flicks, man. He hasn't done much recently, but in the late eighties and throughout the nineties he was alright.

The last episode you watched was Dawson and the crew visiting Dawson's aunt, correct? Coincidentally enough, the episode right after that features The Last Picture Show during its most powerful scene. You'll understand it once you see it.

Nah I'm going to check it out tomorrow afternoon, but now I'm excited as hell for it.

Sweet, you're going to love it. It's good you're waiting to watch it though, since by the time you're finished you'll be that much closer to Sunday, whereas this wait has been killing me, lol.

Yo Xtacles, I was just curious if you were able to go back and finish the show?

Also jmt, did you happen to get a chance to check it out?

X, have you watched Justin Gabriel's match with Kaval for the FCW championship? If not, I strongly reccomend it. I actually like it more than DBD's match with him.

Also jmt, did you happen to get a chance to check it out?

No, I haven't, man. But I have an hour or so to kill so I'm going to check it out right now. I'll post here what I think by the end of the night. :)

Edit: Unfortunately the link I've found in this thread (http://soundcloud.com/chiguysshow/money-goes-downtown) says that the page is down. Any solution to this?

Edit 2: Nevermind. I searched your user name and a show called "Society Enjoys Drunk Bizzy" is up... I'm giving it a listen to right now.

Okay, just to give some right-off-the-bat initial thoughts... you truly have a great voice for radio (no kissing ass here, really mean that), that Bizzy chick does sound hot and seems cool as fuck on top of that, and this 666 song kicks all kinds of ass, never heard it before.

Thanks man. I know I need to quit with the uhs and ums and other crutches that I use, but it means a lot when people tell me that.

Check your PM box for a picture of Bizzy.

Bayside is pretty sweet.

So I made a list of all the movies I want to see between now and the mid-October. The list isn't complete I'm sure, but it's pretty full.

Captain America- Still haven't seen it, and my theater isn't showing it more than once or twice a day now. Better hurry up before it's too late!

Crazy Stupid Love- I love Emma Stone and Steve Carrell, I appreciated Ryan Gosling when he's doing a good job, and Jullianne Moore can be great... or horrible. Either way, I've heard great things about this and want to see it.

30 Minutes or Less- Probably going to get baked with Mr. Charles Hedberg this weekend and see it. Looks like that kind of movie.

Cowboys and Aliens- I've heard mixed things, but I still want to see it. Looks like an enjoyable popcorn movie.

The Change-Up- I could use some cheap laughs.

The Help- Love Emma Stone, love people coming together to beat segregation, and love sassy black ladies.

Fright Night- I like the kid who plays the lead, McLovin'/Red Mist/Albie... I can never remember his name. It looks like a fun little comedic-horror film.

Contaigon- I had a friend who saw this and said that what Jaws did to swimming, this movie will do to being around other people. Looks absolutely mind bogglingly scary, because of how real it could be. On a slightly related note, I saw 28 Days Later on sale for 5 bucks at Newbury Comics today, so I went ahead and bought it. I've never seen it, but I've heard nothing but good things, and I plan on watching it tomorrow night.

Money Ball- I'm a huge Brad Pitt fan, and the movie looks surprisingly fascinating.

50/50- Looks like Knocked Up V2.0 in that it takes a very serious topic and makes it humorous. Only difference is that it might not all end up okay in the end, and the stakes are a lot higher than having a bastard child. Love Seth Rogan, love JGL, love Anna Kendrick, and I think this movie is going to be great.

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil- Looks like a SOLID comedic horror film.

Real Steel- Dude, it's like Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots... THE MOVIE.

We Need to Talk About Kevin- Holllly shit, I just watched the trailer and I was gripped. Looks incredibly dark, and I love seeing John C Riley act in serious roles. I have high hopes for this movie.

That's one hell of a list dude, but you know HappyThankYouMorePlease has my endorsement. Red State should be available on iTunes soon as well, which is something I STRONGLY recommend.

Have you seen Hesher yet? I tried to see it at Sundance in 2010, but as you could imagine, I got locked out! A few other movies from the festival that I suggest checking out are High School (solid stoner comedy), Boy (coming of age comedy from New Zealand), and Splice, if you haven't seen it yet.
