[Official] X Marks the Spot: Xfearbefore Xclusive Thread

So is it just me, or was Bryan Danielson's best theme song without a fucking doubt "Self Esteem" by the Offspring when he first started in ROH? Seriously, what a great entrance. I miss the American Dragon days. Final Countdown holds nothin' on Self Esteem.

Yes.

My brother and I used to listen to his Offspring CDs together, so I'm biased. Great song, great theme. Love the Final Countdown though, and that's what I want him to use in the E.

Yeah, I sometimes forget how good the Offspring were when they started out, from like 89-99 they were a pretty fucking awesome band. Then "Kind of Fly For a White Guy" came out and they just became awful. Such a shame, Smash was probably one of the best albums of the 90s. Self-Esteem is probably their best song IMO. Could listen to it a thousand times and never get tired of it.

I'd love to see him use Final Countdown in the E, but no way is that happening, no way would WWE buy the rights to the song just to use for Danielson. They might do a Jimmy Hart version of it though, I could see that happening.

Wish I could find some YouTube videos of Danielson's entrances when he first started in ROH. All they have is the Final Countdown. :(

I remember when Raven began using "Come Out and Play (Keep'Em Separated)" in some indies

Damn, Smash is such a good album

Has an awful start, that's all, I wouldn't mark out for the start, but it's a pretty decent one, definitely better than Final Countdown, always found that somewhat boring.

Sadly we'll never, ever hear anything of that kind of music in WWE.

"Come Out and Play" was always Raven's theme, starting back when he first started in ECW.

They hardly ever use non-original songs anymore. Or they'll have some shit modern rock band write song. If they used it it would be a cut and butchered rip off much like Jericho's theme in WCW.

Only time Jericho's theme music was any good was in WWE when he used the original theme (Break down the walls) or the time where he had the non mash-up version of Big Show and his own theme (the good version being the one called "crank the walls down")

Yes, definitely.

I also wish Spanky would have stuck with Christina Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle" as his theme. Every one in ROH he used after that sucked.

I always liked it when he used Jurassic 5's "Quality Control" much more actually, thought that was his best theme ever, he went back and forth with that one and the Genie in a Bottle song, but Quality Control was awesome, made his entrance epic as hell and every time he won a match that sick beat would start playing again, lol.

Some awesome themes back when ROH first started. I still can't watch Christopher Daniels enter a ring without hearing Disposable Teens.

On a short list of 5 albums I can get into everytime beginning to end, "Smash" is up there. I think there's one track I may skip, and that's because I heard "Come out and play" too many times at Jr. High dances.

EDIT: Also, FUCK! I was waiting for the other shoe to drop with Twatofrko. Why'd I have to miss it? That's the nature of this place, I suppose. Many thanks around to those responsible for deciding to can the turd.

I would say that after the success of "Pretty Fly for a White Guy," Dexter and co. stopped trying to produce great albums and focussed more on trying to garner singles success with more mainstream type music.

They have produced plenty of songs that I consider enjoyable - Staring at the Sun, Kids Aren't Alright; A Million Miles Away; Rage Against Myself; You're Gonna Go Far, Kid to name a few - but they have increasingly moved away from their original sound. I still enjoy listening to them but for different reasons.

Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace is far more in the 'easy listening' bracket than their 'neo-punk' roots and that saddens me.

Holy Shit, this went to the fifth page fast.

How's things, X?

Pretty good Steve, watching Smackdown from this past Friday, having a drink, don't have to work tomorrow so I'm just relaxing. How about yourself?

All good, man. Going to check in on the game in a bit. You better hope the Celtics win now. And hopefully, I get a reply to Tastycles' thread in the music section up as well, plus I actually get a thread in the Cigar Lounge started.
