[Official] X Marks the Spot: Xfearbefore Xclusive Thread

Del the funky homosapien is Deltron 3030- I think he did a number of songs on the first Gorrilaz album as well his own stuff- I really like that album- that song especially is good to relax to. I kinda thought you might have those two but its the only things I could really think of for Trip hop.

New stuff anyway.

Beginning with some Olafur Arnalds- a young Icelandic composor. My choice as the artist you probably don't know but should. So looking forward to his new album- give this song a chance- its true beauty.

And just to show where his new direction is taking him

This song blew me away so hard the first time I heard it.

This is another Icelandic composor I really like- a bit more of a slower paced song- but equally worth listening too

(Thanks for the comment as well Mr Steve- we must have a Radiohead conversation someday :) )

...Those are all so beautiful. I want to cry now. :(

Your stream of hipsterdom a few pages back made me quite happy.

Did it now? We have more and more in common by the minute. Yes I've been in a very...hmmm...I guess like indie/folk/electronic/trip-hop/shoegaze/post-rock mood. If that makes any sense, which it absolutely doesn't.

More music! MORE! Brand new Goldfrapp, just leaked a few days ago, pretty good album but a decline IMO.

That's probably the best song on the new album.

I am really gald you like them- I have been obsessed with both for the last few months :) Most of their stuff is on Spotify if that works for you in the US? Iceland seems to be one of the places to be for music at the moment anyway.

Indie, folk & shoegaze are like, 80% of what I listen to. Check out the album Hospice by The Antlers- specifically the song Bear.

I literally just threw my hands in the air and had to laugh when I read you recommend The Antlers because I literally just downloaded their album Hospice yesterday and listened to it and was blown away. Talk about a concept album, that one takes it to a whole other level. Absolutely beautiful album, I was very happy someone recommended it to me, and now you have as well!

You have awesome taste in music. Come hang out in the cool kids corner with me and Nita, we drink coffee and listen to Neutral Milk Hotel. Sound good?

X. We haven't talked in a while. I feel lonely and forsaken. I would cry if I hadn't already sold my soul so that I could fuck Lady Gaga. (I'm betting that she doesn't have a penis. Boy will I be embarrassed if she does.)

Oh and if you love Shoegaze, this used to be my sig on this forum and this remains my favorite album cover EVER:

Ahhh happy day other people who listen to the things I do!

In your defense, I would too. The dresses would be a bitch to take off though, but totally worth it...if she doesn't have a penis.

I'm ever so sorry Razor, I've been very busy lately juggling work, getting my wisdom teeth removed, going back and forth between Bristol and Newport (two cities in RI incase you didn't figure that out) all week long, haven't been on as much as I usually am. But you are here, and I am here. Let us converge in our paths and discuss the tranquility of our souls kind sir.

Oh and yes, yes we'd all have sex with Lady Gaga, penis or not.

It's a brilliant album, I couldn't even believe how I felt after I first listened to it. Powerful stuff.

Nita and I hang out in the Female Songwriters thread, which is basically populated by only us two, so I'm down. I take my coffee black. Let's meet in an obscure coffee shop nobody knows.

Well then. I'm currently seeing if I can argue Batman out of straight up dying to Cyborg Iron Man. And, since he's Batman, he can't kill Iron Man. He could, but I'm staying true to the character.

How are you today good sir?

It reminded me of Pedro Almodovar's film Talk to Her. In a good way. Hard to even place my finger on that Antlers album, such a unique experience.

I am quite good kind sir. Listening to Vampire Weekend, enjoying a bowl, and a nice glass of grapefruit juice. Don't ask. DON'T ASK!

How is the college life going?

This Antlers album sounds pretty interesting then- I would tend to trust both you and Cookie for musical taste. I must see if I can find it to listen to and get back to you guys.

Tis a little late in Ireland though now I fear so I think I may be leaving now. Meet you guys in that cool little coffee shop later on :)

I won't. Grapefruit Juice is fucking nasty. I usually try to add a bit of Coke to it to cut the tang, but I feel it sorta defeats the purpose of drinking the damn juice in the first place.

How is the college life going?

I officially changed to English/Creative Writing Thursday, and found out that the University of Arkansas Creative Writing Department is apparently really kick ass. I'm having fun. Oh, and I've finally hit a lull during which I have a lot of time to work on my writing. I should have this week and the next to really crank it out.

I'll tell you this much. Mao is getting PISSED. And people wonder why authors love to write. These characters in my world fucking surprise me sometimes.

I am certain you'll like it. Definitely check it out.

Until then, take it easy ma cherie'.

I took a medium dose of dextromethorphan and grapefruit juice helps in the conversion of DXO to DXM in my brain and a bunch of other jumble jamble. Basically it's like an accelerant to the DXM. Tis why I keep some handy.

Dude, what happened to bio-engineering?

Oh, you're using grapefruit juice to help you get high? SCIENCE!

Bioengineering was cool, but I realized that I didn't have the heart for it. I would end up working in a lab all my life, most likely not working on the cool things Bioengineers do, but rather the lame "Let's breed plants" shit. If you don't have the heart to take the crazy science classes like Organic Chemistry, Heat Transfer, and Statics, you're not going to pass. I'd rather major in something I love and teach and write for the rest of my life.

A true psychonaut knows his science. ;)

Dude you're taking the same exact route I did/am. Minus the bioengineering stopover. Gotta do what makes you happy man.

Yeah, so, sup?

A whole lot brotherman, how about you?

It is, isn't it Steven? I Know makes my toes tingle.

More music for the young ones to feed on.

I'm watching Wild at Heart for the first time in years, been too long since I've seen it. Need to reassess where I'd rank it among my favorite Lynch films.

Yeah, I was totally going to put a song here, and forgot which one is it. I do remember it's from the Bravery, which can totally kick ass....and I remember now

I'm on some type of electronica binge this week. Total ass-kicking week, surely.

Nice, Bravery are a good band and that's a good song. I've been on an electronica binge as well man.

So, I'm bored, just packed my first bowl, it's music posting time bitches.

First though, check out this shit, this awesome DJ called DJ501 mixed up Modest Mouse and Ratatat to create a fucking insanely good little album.

Other shit now.

Norwegian electronica/chillout

German dance-punk

French nu-gaze/anthemic black metal

And to lower the amount of hipster-dom I'm showcasing here, here's a random old rap song from Cam'ron that I used to bump the SHIT out of in high school.
