The first is one of my favorite horror films without a doubt. When I was a kid and that movie came out, it was just the biggest fucking thing EVER. Literally every single Halloween for the next five years after that movie came out, you'd see the streets just filled with kids with Ghostface masks on. I must've seen the original a hundred times, and I still never get tired of it. Watching it is like going back to my childhood or seeing an old friend you haven't seen in awhile, I love every fucking second of it.
Scream 2 is another film that I've got alot of memories tied to as well, I remember playing for my little league team and my dad coming to tell me all the gorey details about the movie which he had seen the night before and how excited I was when I finally got to watch it. Not as good as the original obviously, but I really enjoy the second film as well. It's joined at the hip next to the first one for me. I'm still pissed they killed Randy though...
Scream 3 was different. It was the first in the franchise I saw in theaters (with my dad again) and I really liked it then, but over the years it's definitely become clear that it's the worst in the series. It's still head and shoulders above 99% of other slasher movies, but it just felt a bit forced at times. Good cast though.
As for the new film, I've been keeping tabs on it for years, and it's finally getting off the ground now. Arquette, Cox, and Neve Cambell are all signed on to the film, as is Craven and (I believe) Kevin Williamson, so I'm excited as hell. Unfortunately though it sounds like Campbell is only going to be in the film in a small role, the idea that they've been throwing around is just rebooting the whole franchise with this new film by finally killing off Sydney and moving onto a next era. Not sure how I feel about that.
Yeah, I'm a huge fan of the Scream series. How can you not?
