[OFFICIAL] Husky Harris / Cody Rhodes Discussion Thread

D-Man

Gone but never forgotten.

This is the first pair that has been chosen for the second season of NXT.

It's pretty interesting to see two legends' sons paired up on NXT. But since Cody is a heel, I'm assuming that Husky will be a full-fledged babyface. However, I could be wrong, if you consider the pairing of Jericho and Barrett.

What do you guys think will come of these two? Let's keep their discussion in here.

If I'm not mistaken, Husky Harris is Duke Rotundo from FCW, he also has a brother named Bo, but that's beside the point. To be honest, if used right, he could be the WWE's version of Samoa Joe, the body is definitely similar. Let's not forget, he is a 3rd generation superstar, so even if he does lose NXT, the WWE can keep him around if they want to use him with Ted Dibiase.

As for pairing him with Rhodes, it's interesting. Rhodes is a 2nd generation superstar, so I can see some arguments about who's father is better, Dusty or IRS. Who knows, maybe we can get cameos from the two.

Once you get past Husky Harris' awesomely bad name, you realize that this pairing actually makes a lot of sense. Harris and Rhodes are both sons of wrestlers, and that will probably play into their interactions a lot. They will either argue over whose dad was better, or get along because they both were born into the wrestling business.

I don't know much about Harris except that he's IRS' son. Does anyone know how his mic and ring skills are?

Perhaps he could get involved with Ted DiBiase Jr. once this season is over. It would make sense, as Cody Rhodes has history with Jr. and IRS and DiBiase Sr. used to be in a tag team.

Interesting pairing.

Glad he was one of the guys called up. But the name change really pisses me off. Is his real name, Duke Rotundo, really that bad? Especially compared to Husky Harris:banghead: But I cant help but think how ironic it would be if he did go under his real name, and ended up on Raw with Dibiase. Granted the history between their fathers in WWE.

Having his pro be Cody Rhodes, just another way for WWE to say here you go Cody have some TV time cause we're not doing anything for you. Have his pro be Dibiase!!!!! With Virgil there, I mean come on thats just awesome.

I think it could be a very interesting pairing. Not so much the history between the two fathers, but more the history between Dusty & Blackjack. Although the WWE doesn't go so much into history prior to 1984; especially concerning areas outside Stamford, I believe they'll have a good deal of chemistry between each other.

I had to laugh out loud when I heard his name is now Husky Harris! Windham Rotunda is a pretty good all-around wrestler (he has the pedigree), and NXT should be a good platform to get him to the big leagues. But the name alone is enough to not take him serious in this competition imo. Big mistake, they should've allowed him to keep his name and play off the 3rd generation aspect, but it will interesting to see how he plays out and carves a niche of his own.

I hate the guy's name, I burst out laughing when I first heard it. I think a few guys have mentioned Samoa Joe and Joe is exactly the first guy I thought of when I saw Harris for the first time. He has an overall build that looks pretty similar to Joe and I really don't know how that's going to go over in the WWE. Even though Vince has drastically cut back on guys that have the bodybuilder physique, he still does prefer them to be in good shape. However, maybe looks will be deceptive in this guy's case. To be honest, Harris actually looks more like a son of Dusty Rhodes than Cody does.

I like the idea of pairing the sons of two legends on NXT, especially with both of them being pretty young. I think Harris is only about 23 and Cody Rhodes is only about a year and a half older. Another interesting dynamic that could work out.

I'm not really intrigued with it all, I think Cody could very well prove to be a decent pro, but he really should be focusing more on doing things on Smackdown, accomplishing himself more or less than trying to build a potential future star (which I sincerely doubt will ever happen).

Husky seems like a odd spot to me, he could go far, he could fail miserably, but I'm gonna need some time to properly judge him.

Have his pro be Dibiase!!!!! With Virgil there, I mean come on thats just awesome.

Shit! I didn't even think of that. That's like a family reunion.

Yeah, would have made more sense if DiBiase Jr was his pro.

As for the name, even Dick Duke would have been a better name than Husky Harris.

His WWE bio picture looks terrible. I used to love IRS, but sorry Irwin your son is deemed to fail. He is even wearing old school fat boy tights. If Playboy Buddy Rose was still alive he could of been his pro. Buddy could get Husky on the "Blow-away" diet.

I see no reason for him to be kept around for very long. He's fat, his name is awful, and his pro is Cody Rhodes, a Superstars wrestler. I keep reading about how he could be a Samoa Joe type wrestler, but I don't see it. I know that they are going to give him a horrible finisher, and he just looks like he's doomed to fail. He 's the Skip Sheffield of the group, and we all remember Skip. He did nothing at all.

The good news is even though his name is Husky Harris, he isn't even the silliest or even the second silliest name on the show. That's a big break for him. I actually am a little excited for this guy. WWE needs some more wide bodies. He's someone's so too, isn't he? O ya, IRS. Who gives a shit.

The worse news is he's paired up with Cody Rhodes, who hasn't even been able to do anything of note with his own career. There's a chance Husky could surpass him simply with his 3 months on NXT. That's how shit Cody is.

Thus far, Harris is actually the best I've seen of the new batch of NXT-ers in terms of overall ability. He's got size (even if a large portion is in the belly but that might work for him) and he can really move for a big guy. He also seems to have a wrestling style that uses that great bulk of his as a weapon, which I like. I keep thinking the fact he's not a pretty boy means he'll be landed firmly in the heel category, but that baby face (literal) of his may put him in the position of comedy face. He may just be too hard to place to be allowed to make it. I don't like his chances of winning NXT, but I like him as a wrestler so far.

The fact he's paired with Cody Rhodes is interesting, particularly since Cody seems to be looking to prove himself by "making something out of" Harris. It'll be interesting to see the result.

He seemed like a pretty decent guy last night, I liked him in the ring, that's at least a positive side of him, and from the little bit of microphone work we heard from him, I can say I'm a little more intrigued and interested in him than I was before, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

I think he might go on to become one of my favorite rookies, not the favorite, but top 4 or 5.

I was surprised what he could do in the ring given his "Husky" nature. Microphone work didn't interest me all that much, kind of a watered down Skip in that respect.

Also, those tattoos are atrocious. You have to be a real douchebag to get wings tattoo'd on your back. Even worse they are tribal wings that are meant to look like they are bleeding. And even WORSE he's fat and has those tattoos! It's like the douchiness is turned up to 11 or something.

i was impressed with him overall......very talented in the ring with the little time they gave him.....didnt seem nervous at all on the mic....i see him at least making it to the top 4

of the 4 rookies that performed last night Harris was the best in the ring. He's the type that could be a big crazy brawler like Stan Hansen or a babyface like Dusty Rhodes. The only thing holding him back is that his pro is shit. seriously why have Cody Rhodes, the pros are supposed to be established.

I like what I see from him so far. When he jumped on Watson similar to the style of Samoa Joe, it looked very painful. I don't know if he is going to do very well in this competition, but he was pretty impressive last night.

I laughed when he put his hand around Striker, and Striker immediately removed it and looked disgusted.

I thought this guy was alright. I don't know about his lineage or career prior to last night so it was a first impression for me. I thought of Samoa Joe like some of you as well. He seemed pretty good in the ring from what I saw, no complaints there. The name could use some work, but for the time being it's not that bad. He is a big husky guy, and the last name is irrelevant, it works. Not my favorite of the rookies but not the most disliked either.

I see Husky being part of a tag team when the show is done. I see him getting bogged down in the lower midcard as a singles star, but with the right partner can make serious waves in the tag team division. Hmm...similar to his father, come to think of it.

The obvious problem with this pairing is that Cody Rhodes should be on Smackdown trying to make a name for himself as a singles wrestler. Since being drafted to Smackdown he's appeared twice on the show and any other week he's appeared on 'Jobbers', sorry 'Superstars'. The fact is, Cody himself could just as easily be one of those rookies paired with a pro! The only reason I think Creative made him a pro is because it gives them an excuse to keep him off Smackdown since they clearly haven't a notion what to do with him there.

So, I'm frustrated that Rhodes isn't being used on Smackdown as I'm a fan of his, he needs to do much more on his own before being able to call himself a true 'pro' on NXT. As for Husky Harris, he seemed decent in the recent tag match on NXT and I actually feel that the pairing of him and Cody could be fairly entertaining despite my overall feeling that they should keep Rhodes on Smackdown and off of NXT, as he needs to establish himself as a singles wrestler before 'mentoring' anybody on NXT.

Aside from having an awful gimmick name (which I don't see the point of if they're just going to say that he's Mike Rotunda's son anyways, which they did), I don't see much in the future for Husky right now. Well, outside of one idea, which would likely be his safest bet to stay employed, which would be if he was paired up with Ted DiBiase as another enforcer type character. Would make sense considering the well-storied history between their two fathers who were former tag champs together. He could play a really good Luke Gallows type of role for DiBiase, but outside of that frankly I don't see much in his future in the WWE right now, simply because I have no idea how else they could use him.

I dig that Cody Rhodes is his mentor though, as that may be a hint that DiBiase will become involved with those two at some point in the future.

Me and my friend were picking NXT I winner when the show debuted.. I said Wade Barrett was my sleeper pick. I picked Danielson to win the competition, but I felt Barrett was the sleeper of the competition.

This year I'm making a very similar prediction. I got Kaval as my prediction.. but don't sleep on Husky Harris.

Love his in-ring work.

Man, this guy looks like dogshit. I'm sorry, but you could be Stone Cold's son and if you're fat and out of shape, it doesn't matter if you could go in the ring. The days of the Adrian Adonis's and Dusty Rhodes's is gone. Cosmetics go a long way in this business and I could give two shits if the guy could run a 4.9/40YD.

Yeah, he's got some skill in the ring, but babyface is not the direction he should go in. I believe he needs to embrace the fact that he's on the same wavelength as being the Samoa Joe of the WWE - he's a fat guy that can move in the ring. He should have the pros and other rookies make fun of his weight and look so he could pull a tantrum and use his impressive fat-man-agility to pummel the ones that mock him. In my eyes, that is the only way this guy will go anywhere.

What a shame... Rotundo was such a great talent. You'd think he'd be smart enough to stop his kid from eating cheeseburgers.

I'm not too impressed by Harris but at least he's better than Cottonwood. I think he has better odds now after attacking Striker on tuesday. It sent a message that needed to be sent.... However, he's still not all that impressive. I would be shocked if he made it to the final four rookies this season since he needed to attack the host in order for him to be even remotely interesting. Also.... Cody Rhodes as a pro? Why? He has only been in the WWE for a couple of years! How does that make him a "Pro" other than the fact that he's on the official roster?
