Sorry to go back to ratings, but I find it funny how websites and people laugh at TNA ratings, when WZ is telling its readers to put the Replay rating and the proper rating together to form the REAL rating.

Its amazing how much bias the bigger company gets in all these outlets, and the "little guy" gets assaulted.

I believe that the deal with ratings goes something like this:

0-500,000 more viewers than the rating let's on.
an 0.9 would usually stand for 900,000 viewers. But add 400,000 viewers and you have 1.3 million viewers. a 1.0 could mean a million viewers to 1.4 million viewers. 1.1 could mean 1.1 million viewers or 1.5 million viewers etc

I don't believe that replays are added together with the main show because of the huge crossover audience.

The thing is TV stations will look at a combined rating over multiple showings. I personally see the logic in it because I doubt too many people are going to watch both showings in this day and age.

Funny thing is if you do factor in the replay rating, Impact's ratings are actually lower than they were a little while ago because the replays were doing .5-.6.

The ratings points are a percentage based on the approximate number of TV's that have cable. Thus as time goes on, and more people get cable/satellite, a percentage point will mean more viewers. I think it's one point is worth about 1.1 million TVs, and then viewers are estimated based on feedback.

My biggest problems with the cheap finishes is when they are used in a match that shouldn't have them. Creed vs Petey at Hard Justice is a perfect example. Samoa Joe or for that matter Booker T should have been elevated from their feud but neither one was.

Not only that, but constant run-ins and screwjobs only condition the audience to expect it. And thus there's no drama to the match as everybody will realize there's just going to be shenanigans in the end.

And for those of you who want it, the Ask Jake facts.

So I've come to the conclusion that we both mark for ourselves. So what do you say Disco, a merging of the two threads?

Okay, when did your thread start, and when did this one start

and i find it interseteing that out of the 980 posts in your thread, you did 375 of them accounting for over third of the posts in the thread. and the other admin cm did 90. maybe we should exclude those

Well admittedly mine started several months before. But I haven't had the advantage of being advertised on the main forum, being a former wrestler, and being in a wrestling section. So it all evens out, and I am the victor.

Yeah, you win the respect and admiration of yourself and two other people on the internet. Congratulations! Your claim to victory is as hollow as George Bush and the Republican's claim to victory in Iraq years ago.

Question for the artist formerly known as Disco Inferno: Do you think Gail Kim's going to be the only the example of a Knockout leaving TNA in the future or do you think the WWE's going to start targeting TNA's Knockout division and start taking the top Knockouts away with more money and more benefits?

Also, do you think the loss of the Knockouts will effect the ratings and the product a great deal over the long term? Gail Kim's been a big ratings draw for Impact and now she's gone.

Third; do you think Kim deserved more money from TNA to entice her to stay with the company, since she was a good ratings bringer for the product and for the Knockouts division?

Yeah, you win the respect and admiration of yourself and two other people on the internet. Congratulations!

Thank you. It means a lot to me.

You're such a prankster Marty, we should socialise. It would be good for both of us.

Well if you eliminate my posts from the table then you've still got over 600 posts in the thread. Get rid of CM's posts and you've still got over 500. Either way I win.

C.M. is my Marty. And I am his Disco. My thread is more successful however you look at it. If anything I'm giving Disco the rub by posting in his thread. He did after all make a column about me, I'm yet to make one on him.

On the argument of clean finishes and interference. Here is my take.

Glenn's argument in his column was kind of stale and i will explain why.

Interferences are supposed to be regarded as important and completely against the rules. However, when they happen several times a show and usually determine the outcome of matches, it ruins the concept. It cheapens the shock. Matches in TNA usually only go as long as it takes for someone random to come out and decide the match for themselves.

As far as "Nobody wants to watch a loser", that is so hypocritical. TNA's own Booker T lost much of his career cleanly in WWE was able to draw again within months. A GOOD booker can work around that. With booking, you can do anything. You can manipulate an audience into thinking a guy that loses half of his PPV matches is a dominant force.

YES... if a guy loses a bunch of times, who cares anymore? However, there are ways around that. A booker has tremendous creative power into fooling the audience into thinking people are threats to others.

For instance... EXAMPLE: Samoa Joe defeats AJ Styles cleanly. AJ gets pissed and assault Samoa Joe the next week. People want to see the rematch and for Joe to get revenge. Joe gets too angry and AJ beats him with a roll-up after Joe loses focus. In a rematch, AJ defeats Joe again, THIS TIME by cheating. AJ now has 2 wins over Joe. Samoa Joe tags with Kaz against AJ Styles and Tomko. Samoa Joe pins AJ after bad communication with Tomko. In a final match, probably a gimmick. Joe gets revenge and beats AJ Clean.

I just booked a feud (gimmicks or not, whatever) with only 1 unclean finish. Competitors are competitors. The Red Sox and The Cubs still sold tickets when neither had won it all for years. People lose. There must be a winner and there must be a loser. Good booking and good stories make this possible.

Which brings me to my next point is the interferences are used a little too often when a unclean finish or just simply protecting a worker can be done dozens of other ways. Such as a other distractions, brass knuckles (or illegal weapons in ring), using the ropes, low blow, whatever. Those are simple ways a wrestler can be protected.

Having Wrestle A fight wrestler B who is feuding with wrestler C win because C distracted or attacked wrestler B is just boring now because it is done every week.

aj loses, gets mad, and attacks joe. so let me get this straight. the way to keep feuds going is for the losers to attack the winners afterwards? as if the people will give a rat's ass? you are making some assumptions which i don't think have anything to do with compelling television and drama. you're just trying to figure out a way to get a clean finish in. big deal.

I don't think y2jake gets paid jackshit... and i am guessing disco doesn't get paid too much either :p

I've noticed that TNA has been 'forced' to do clean finishes "at times". Russo probably has to adjust to the online reaction and the management reading the online fans' views. So, Russo lets the wrestlers lose - not necessarily "cleanly" - possibly due to distraction, miscommunication, and afterwards they'll do the runins, etc

Russo used to write more matches "not completing" and more interference/run-ins. I loved that chaos...

I find it funny that Jake thinks he's all that for getting a higher number of posts in a thread. There's this guy on another forum that got 8,000 posts in 1.5 years. That's like 15 posts a day, and the guy spends 5 hours at work on the boards. what type of life is that

If TNA changes their shows and works their matches around the opinions of people on the INTERNET (which I highly doubt they do) then they need to get a backbone. They're professionals, they should know the business, the writing, the booking and whats best far better then inexperienced, opinionated wrestling fans on the Internet who merely want to voice their views on the product. Do you think Vince McMahon changes his show or does anything based on feedback and opinions of people on the internet? No way in hell. Listening to the fans in a packed arena and taking feedback from their reactions is a Lot different then reading forums on the internet and changing your product based on a small segregation of fans (most of which probably don't even pay to watch your product).

I think you need to really drop that excuse because its silly.

I agree because McMahon had a backbone and let Russo write 2 1/2 years straight and was pissed when Russo called him and said he was going to WCW. Russo did email me once back in the day (a year ago?) saying that Dixie sometimes pays too much attention to the stuff online. McMahon was smart enough not to.

Russo would really write the shows completely different in my opinion, much like the way you saw him do it in WCW/WWF where it'd be chaotic.

I think TNA is not as professional as you think. I have followed them for six years and they do spend a lot of time reading the stuff online. Russo and Gilbertti are two guys that really go against the grain of what the majority of the online fans think and I agree with them for the most part on all counts..

I don't think it's an excuse because Russo has emailed me directly saying a long time ago that Dixie did invest in a lot of the opinions of the INternet. I would hope that has gone down, but it was weird in early 2007 that after there were a few "Fire Russo" chants during Abyss/Sting match that the direction took a much different direction (that lowered the ratings)

Yet if you get rid of my posts in Ask Jake the thread still has significantly more than this one.

Oi, cheeky.

Obviously people don't care enough to TRY to get Jake. He's a guy posting on forums on the INTERNET.

How did you do this post? Would I be off the mark if I said morse code?

do you get paid? that's how i would judge the difference between your success and mine.

If you were really successful you wouldn't be getting paid a minimal ammount of money to talk to us geeks.

Y2Jake.. this thread has 24,600 views. How many does your one have...

24,800 but like I said, it has been there a little bit longer.

Pft Jake is so sad with how he thinks he is so great, and over. I mean, how can someone be so pathetic.

If you all need to know the most over person on this site

I suggest you see the OFFICIAL All things NorCal thread. The post count in it completely owns Jakes.

AND this one. And its barely been around for over a month. So seriously, you all need to just stop. Becuase with that information, im pretty sure its fairly easy to see who is the person with the most accomplishments on this site.

and if Jake isnt scared to show them, he can post the stats of the NorCal thread in here.

Ownage.

My accomplishments > Jake >>>> Disco

do the mods actually admit to people what they do? I can't exactly picture a moderator in a bar trying to pick up a girl and admitting,"I'm a moderator form wrestlezone.com. I've had over 24,000 views in one of my threads. Do you blog?" I should use this line in one of my articles.

Well I do at least. then I ask if they want to come over and watch my ECW video library. pretty schweet.

I started telling them that my thread has more veiws than the Disco Inferno's but they never know who im talking about, so I had to stop trying that one....

I tried using the old ''I'm a wrestler'' line, but I'm always told I look nothing like Hulk Hogan. The ''I'm an admin on a wrestling forum'' works better, because most people don't know what an admin on a forum is, so I use it to my advantage.

that was funny. i will give you credit for being the funniest administrator on this site. your sense of humor can never be questioned.
