WWE said:Ted DiBiase has been pushed by Cody Rhodes ... and he’s not going to take it anymore.
As former allies in The Legacy, Rhodes and DiBiase worked together to do Randy Orton’s bidding. Flash forward to today and Randy Orton is World Heavyweight Champion and Rhodes is Intercontinental Champion.
But, what about DiBiase?
Perhaps his biggest accomplishment was holding the tag team championship alongside Rhodes for two reigns in 2008. Then after losing the tag titles, DiBiase went on to test Daniel Bryan in some competitive matches for the United States Championship – but he always fell short.
In 2011, Rhodes claimed to be the one who could help revitalize DiBiase’s career. But his intentions were highly suspect. For weeks, DiBiase endured humiliation, including being berated by Rhodes, having paper bags put over his head – and even taking the brunt of physical abuse from the likes of Orton (WATCH) and the massive Ezekiel Jackson (WATCH).
Finally, on the Sept. 16 edition of SmackDown, DiBiase snapped. While disguised as a paper-bag-wearing member of the WWE Universe, DiBiase leaped from the crowd and assaulted his mentor. (WATCH)
Now that DiBiase has let his rage out of the bag so to speak, will Rhodes suffer the consequences?
Can't see a thread on this yet; thought I'd do it. So, Rhodes/DiBiase has been shoehorned onto the NoC card. Might as well discuss it all in here.
See Ted DiBiase Strikes Back! from WWE.com - This article adds to the feud, since DiBiase got no mic time on Friday.
I'm not sure on the victors but I think if they want Rhodes to eventually drop to DiBiase they need to pad out the feud a little more first. I'd use this as the first match to get the ball rolling properly. Still, this could be a great way to revive DiBiase's run and give his character some life again. Either way I'm sure the match will be enjoyable!
I'm gonna go with Rhodes to win, but only just.
