WWE said:
Ted DiBiase has been pushed by Cody Rhodes ... and he’s not going to take it anymore.

As former allies in The Legacy, Rhodes and DiBiase worked together to do Randy Orton’s bidding. Flash forward to today and Randy Orton is World Heavyweight Champion and Rhodes is Intercontinental Champion.

But, what about DiBiase?

Perhaps his biggest accomplishment was holding the tag team championship alongside Rhodes for two reigns in 2008. Then after losing the tag titles, DiBiase went on to test Daniel Bryan in some competitive matches for the United States Championship – but he always fell short.

In 2011, Rhodes claimed to be the one who could help revitalize DiBiase’s career. But his intentions were highly suspect. For weeks, DiBiase endured humiliation, including being berated by Rhodes, having paper bags put over his head – and even taking the brunt of physical abuse from the likes of Orton (WATCH) and the massive Ezekiel Jackson (WATCH).

Finally, on the Sept. 16 edition of SmackDown, DiBiase snapped. While disguised as a paper-bag-wearing member of the WWE Universe, DiBiase leaped from the crowd and assaulted his mentor. (WATCH)

Now that DiBiase has let his rage out of the bag so to speak, will Rhodes suffer the consequences?

Can't see a thread on this yet; thought I'd do it. So, Rhodes/DiBiase has been shoehorned onto the NoC card. Might as well discuss it all in here.

See Ted DiBiase Strikes Back! from WWE.com - This article adds to the feud, since DiBiase got no mic time on Friday.

I'm not sure on the victors but I think if they want Rhodes to eventually drop to DiBiase they need to pad out the feud a little more first. I'd use this as the first match to get the ball rolling properly. Still, this could be a great way to revive DiBiase's run and give his character some life again. Either way I'm sure the match will be enjoyable!

I'm gonna go with Rhodes to win, but only just.

This feud has a lot of potential and can be very good. I think Cody should and will win at Night Of Champions, maybe have DiBiase beat him down afterwards or something to give Cody a reason to compete with him again. This feud could very well last at least two months without the title exchanging hands and help Cody's reign become impressive. If things go well, he may have the best Intercontinental Championship reign since Ziggler and everybody knows that the Intercontinental Championship need worthy Champions which Jackson and Barrett weren't, mainly because of the way they were booked.

The match itself should be good, if given the required time like 10-15 minutes. Even though I think very little of DiBiase, he can perform well in the ring, as his matches with Bryan have proved. I know people will say that Bryan could've carried him to a good match but that wasn't the case with DiBiase. He did his part well. Cody has also been very good in the ring as of late, he's been in great matches with Bryan and Orton. He even gave Jackson a good match.

So this has the formula to be a good mid-card match, certainly to be better than most others recently.

This is Dibiase's sympathy shot. He's somewhat fortunate to be getting it and I am quite surprised it's getting PPV time. That being said, I think it will be short, certainly no more than 10 minutes. And Rhodes has to win to keep any momentum. A loss would be terrible for him as he is far more interesting now than Dibiase has been in years.

Hopefully Rhodes will get past Dibiase quite quickly and work with someone on his level, because unless Dibiase shows something, Rhodes will continue to be more successful.

To be honest I think Ted DiBiase should win the IC title. And Cody Rhodes can go on to upper midacard/main event. I think DiBiase has great talent and he can make a lot of segments so emotional. I think DiBiase would be great as the "badass babyface". I can even see him pulling it off better than A-Ry. If DiBiase can give a great performance at Night Of Champions even without winning the title then I am officially a fan of his.

I guess we'll all just have to wait till this Sunday to see just how good DiBiase can perform when he's given solid one on one Pay Per View match with a man that he has a lot of chemistry with. The Night Of Champions card looks pretty good right now and I think the event won't disappoint.

A few months ago, a great fantastic wrestler by the name of Wade Barrett held the Intercontinental Championship. However, his reign was short and lacked everything it took for the reign to be considered successful. It would be a shame for that to happen again. Here we have Cody Rhdoes and a perfect oppotunity to bring a great deal of prestige back to the Intercontinental Title. This feud needs to be long and drawn out - maybe over three or four pay-per-veiws before Dibiase actually wins it. I also think Cody needs to do a bit more then just giving Ted this Cross Rhodes. I was watching Smackdown and wondered why Ted was so pissed off? If it's going to be personal, make it personal. Cody wins this Sunday in typical heel fashion.

Hamler's Prediction - Cody Rhodes will retain the Intercontinental Championship

I hope the feud lasts for weeks past NoC, as Rhodes is very good and could help DiBiase get over as a face on Smackdown. I just feel that it is, as you said in the original post, shoehorned. Why didn't DiBiase do something during the matches between Rhodes and Orton? I certainly would love to see that feud for the WHC after Mark Henry's reign as champion (yes, I'm rooting for it).

But DiBiase should have come out a week ago and thrown a paper bag on Rhodes' head and delivered Dream Street after Rhodes lost to Orton. Yeah, Henry attacked instead, but Henry had the legitimacy that he didn't NEED to do that again. Still, can't change what the WWE's done already, so I just hope that Rhodes wins in some way that isn't legit. Maybe he takes off his mask and uses it as a weapon, delivers a low blow when the ref isn't looking, or even one of the bag men throws a cheap shot that sends DiBiase into Crossrhodes. Regardless, this could help both of them out if it extends into the following PPV.

It sure took them long enough to have DiBiase retaliate against Rhodes.

Cody is on his way to main event status eventually when he drops the IC Title, but it's not going to be this soon. He just won it against Jackson about a month ago, maybe longer.

I predict the following will win at NOC:

CM Punk
Alberto Del Rio
Randy Orton
Air Boom
Cody Rhodes
Jack Swagger*
Beth Phoenix*

*Just 2 new champions

I'm expecting Rhodes will retain at NOC. Either Rhodes gets disqualified or cheats to win. They could also have Dibiase get disqualified for being so pissed at Rhodes that he rips off Rhodes' face mask and uses it against him. I think any of those are good, possible scenarios. I just hope WWE has enough sense and doesn't have Cody go over Ted cleanly. (Ezekiel Jackson was ruined by basically getting pinned cleanly by Rhodes. Now he's wrestling on Superstars and only got slightly more offense than Vladimir Kozlov did against Mark Henry.)

Anyway, if Rhodes does lose the title on Sunday, I really hope they don't put him in the ME picture. With his scrawny looking physique and overall look, I can't buy him as a credible World Champion.

great possible feud between two guys with lots of chemistry and history. I have no doubt this will steal the show in terms of inring work, I just wonder how much time this will get given the indicator of its near non existent builup. I do wish they had put the Ted face turn off for a little bit because I really do want him to be the next IC champ after Cody but the latter just got it so it raises questions.

Basically I hope this gets the airtime it deserves and opprotunity to flourish over the next couple of months and not just a one time 5 min screwjob. Ted needs a revival after the year he`s had, the IC title needs a revival after Zeke and Wade put on such horrible matches with their mediocore inring ability, and Cody needs to continue fighting high end opponets each and every week so as not to get caught in the midcard category which the IC strap brings AFTER he moves on from it onto WC status. PLUS on top of all this need, this feud would just basically be massively entertaining with 2 of WWE`s finest.

Ted DiBiase is an undoubtedly talented star. Is he ever going to cut the mustard in the WWE? I honestly, at this point, think his train has passed the stop and he's not getting back on. Does anyone forget that these two had a triple threat with Randy Orton at Wrestlemania 26? Ted has gone from a triple threat match against one of the company's biggest stars, to about a year and a half later just fighting to stay relevant. Oh, and he's still trying to get past the other guy from that match, Cody Rhodes, who seems to be the one that will move on and have a career after Legacy.

Ted has the bulk of the ability, but he doesn't have the ability to stand out in an increasingly dense crowd, and that will be the death nail in his career. He might win this match, Sunday, but don't be surprised to see Cody get it back or even move on to a WHC feud. It's just not going to work out, for Ted, and I'm convinced of that. I hate it for him, because I like to watch him wrestle, but it just won't.

Well I guess we know which match will start NOC! I really hope its a godo match. I like Ted a lot his issue is he can't cut a promo. Cody is just a bit better on the mic but he's gotten a lot better in his matches since the move to Smackdown. I'd love to see Ted walk away with the belt.

Big match for Ted. He is getting a 2nd chance after his first push failed when Legacy broke up. Cody will win. Hopefully this feud last longer than 1 match at NOC. Thats how you will bring some prestige back to the IC Title. Have some memorable feuds and matches.

So pumped for this match. Rhodes is the future. I remember when he started with Hardcore Holly and I was like you can't be serious. He does his character now so good. I wish they had more build up so we can start to see what more Ted can do. I hope this turns into a great feud.

This feels rushed, it also has not had much build. Rhodes "mentoring" Dibiase never interested me much as an angle and I fear it will not end well for Ted. Rhodes is likely going to win because it's better for the belt's prestige to have a retention rather than give the belt to someone who has absolutely no direction at the moment. Even if Ted won, who would he feud with next and what direction would he take after that? Rhodes is going to end up feuding with Orton soon, so he does have to drop the belt to someone.... I don't see it happening here. Should be an ok match between two former tag team partners, with Rhodes retaining. Ted might win in a rematch or something so that Cody can move up the card.

DAGGER'S PREDICTION
Cody Rhodes will retain the Intercontinental Championship.

I can't help but feel this feud has been rushed. There was plenty for Cody and DiBiase to do before this feud actually happens. Ted could have accidentally cost a few matches of Cody's, patched things up and dragged out the team aspect a little more. Maybe a failed shot or two at the tag titles. I don't feel as if they really grasped on to the notion that Cody was trying to help Ted out enough. This feud could have been held off until after SS. That way Cody could have been champion longer and losing the title to DiBiase and then flip flopping it once or twice could have been a good idea. The feud could have been about the personal issues and then it just becomes about the Intercontinental title. Great way to envoke more emotion into this feud as well as add to the prestige of the title by making the feud personal AND about the title.

If they have Cody win by fluke or cheating then would give a reason for a rematch and its nice to see Ted Dibiase on a PPV again would be better to see him be a champion by rumble.

bout time, Dibiase is an unrealised success. Who's fault that is is up for debate but just think then Legacy had split, Cody was the no hoper and Dibiase was headed for success.

if dibiase dosent draw this time around with himself fueding with cody, then im not sure what use he really is... i feel that he is being somewhat held bak but he needs to step up to... he will not however win the ic belt

In all honesty, I like Ted. I wish Ted wasn't everyone's punching bag. This feud with Cody can only help him if he is handled properly. He's gotta lose at NOC but it has to be either by DQ because he just is too relentless against Cody (which seems the best option) or Cody needs to win by cheating in some manner... that way Ted can have a credible reason to hold onto this feud and keep going after Cody. Then when the title picture clears up and they can make room for Cody in the M.E.... let Ted take the IC. Just as long as the IC Title can maintain the strength that they're trying to give it.

Out of the two, Rhodes is definitely the stronger one. He's better at the mic and in the ring plus he has a bigger following than DiBase. It was inevitable that this feud would happen one way or another but it's hard to judge this feud fairly when you can easily tell who's better. Ted can compare with Cody in-ring but Ted is really going to have to improve his mic skills if he wants to be able to stand up to the high expectations of this feud (assuming this is only the beginning of it). Cody fought to get where he is now and Ted is going to have to fight just as hard if he plans on going anywhere in the WWE. I think Cody will retain.

I read online yesterday that this match had been made official. I think we all knew it was coming, though it would have been nice to have had a little more build up for it.

I think it'll be a good solid match for the title, though if it comes off as rather lackluster then WWE has nobody to blame but themselves for not properly promoting it. I fully expect Rhodes to retain here. He's been good for the title and has consistently done a good job of putting over the title in and of itself. DiBiase isn't nearly strong enough to be the IC champ right now, especially when you consider he's spent the majority of the past 1.5 years since Legacy's split jobbing his ass off.

But, like I said, it should be a solid match with Rhodes getting a good win as champ. At least, that's how I hope it goes.

Well, they have been testing the main event waters with Cody. Not sure if they will go full stop with him now because he hasn't been received very well. Then again, all he does it cut the same promo in some form or fashion about how everyone but him is ugly. And it has been well over a year of the same shtick, only difference is how he goes about it. :disappointed:

Wouldn't surprise me if Teddy got the win here. Not necessarily the title since Rhodes has started using his mask as a weapon rather than a really hard mask. Sure, they can get some mileage out of this feud, but I doubt a lot of people would want to see it tbh

i think these people will win

Triple H
Alberto del rio
Randy orton
Cody Rhodes
A-ry
Air boom
Beth Phenoix

now im not exactly sure of all these ik dolph will probley lose the U.S. title and mayb kelly kelly will win again but these are my predictions as for the Rhodes and Dibease feud i cant see it as that good because ted has been in the lower card for so long therefor i dont see him beating CR at NOC

I actually liked how ted came back and attacked Cody, it was a good way to make people care about him again. i don't want him to walk out with the title cause it would really kill all the work that's been put into rhodes. i mean when's the last time Rey lost at mania? he handpicks cody and puts him over, they aren't gonna waste all that.
idk why everyone always said that ted was the better of the two, i never believed that. it seemed like they were gonna make ted the star at first but im so glad they realized how good cody is.

I would say have ted win clean and have cody win it back dirty on smackdown. It could set up a decent feud and it would make ted look good and give cody heat. They could also talk about eachothers fathers and their past and what not. I wouldnt want to see them waste it but then again we have to see how good they work together.....
